Chapter 43 - Your Kaiju Are Too -Chapter 43: What a Coincidence

"A Category V Kaiju!?"

Inside the command center, Marshal Pentecost stared at the waveform indicating the Kaiju's classification. His expression instantly turned grave.

The highest-level Kaiju they had fought so far was a Category IV. Now, a Category V had appeared?

Otachi, a Category IV, had already pushed Crimson Typhoon to its limits. What kind of power would a Category V possess?

Cherno Alpha was out of commission and needed to return to base for repairs.

Now, only Crimson Typhoon and Shaolin Rogue held the front line.

They had just finished a battle. Crimson Typhoon sustained minor damage, and Shaolin Rogue had lost an arm in that scientifically inexplicable attack.

Could they handle another fight?

Even if they could, how much stamina would Mr. Natsuki have to expend?

"Damn it."

"Crimson Typhoon, Shaolin Rogue—avoid engaging the enemy until reinforcements arrive!" Marshal Pentecost made the immediate judgment and spoke through the comms.

He then turned to the technicians in the command center and ordered: "Arrange transport aircraft to bring Gipsy Danger to the mission site immediately. Have it rendezvous with Striker Eureka and the two Jaegers!"

"Copy that!" they answered in unison.

Although Gipsy Danger had also just finished a battle, there was no time to worry about that now.

Having Crimson Typhoon and Gipsy Danger engage the two Kaiju—no matter what, they had to buy time for the other two Jaegers.

Getting Striker Eureka through the Breach with the nuke, while ensuring Mr. Natsuki conserved as much stamina as possible to enter the Breach, were the necessary conditions for the mission's success, in his estimation.

Soon, several helicopters lifted off from the Shatterdome, arriving at the shallow waters outside the base to secure Gipsy Danger's frame.

Striker Eureka was already advancing rapidly toward the mission site.

Meanwhile, on the eastern Pacific side, at the base beneath the San Francisco Kaiju remains:

"Knifehead failed..." Zachary Lyman removed his remote-control helmet, his gaze heavy.

The Knifehead just killed by Gipsy Danger had been under his control.

"Besides the Precursors' side, Pentecost's side has at least one too." He frowned in thought, determining that Marshal Pentecost's forces very likely also had a Traveler.

The Precursors' actions differed completely from his expectations, confirming at least one Traveler among them.

The Jaeger forces would naturally change due to the Precursors' changes, but the magnitude of change shouldn't be this large. This proved a Traveler was definitely involved there too.

"This is getting interesting." Thinking this, Lyman's lips curved into a sudden smile.

A Traveler in the Precursor camp and a Traveler in the Jaeger forces were clashing. Whoever won would benefit him.

"Fight. The more intense, the better."

"Too bad... whichever side remains, they can't stop me anymore."

Lyman strode out of the remote piloting chamber onto a catwalk in a massive underground factory. He looked at the numerous white mechs that had completed assembly inside, his face showing unconcealed satisfaction.

"The final victor can only be me."

Half an hour later, in the Western Pacific battle zone:

"This Otachi corpse should be enough." Shaolin Rogue, deep underwater, successfully salvaged Otachi's headless body and placed it on nearby rocks. After examining it, Natsuki said.

It was a miscalculation.

He had forgotten they needed a Kaiju body to pass through the Breach, and he had split Leatherback and the other Kaiju in half. Fortunately, when he killed Otachi, he had only blown up its head.

At that moment, another warning came from the Shatterdome command center.

"Category IV Kaiju codenamed Abomination and Category V Kaiju codenamed Venom are approaching!"

"They are less than five kilometers from your position!"

"Please avoid engagement!"

Hearing this reminder, Natsuki turned and noticed the change in the ocean surface ahead.

Amid churning waves, two massive Kaiju had surfaced, their appearances horrifying.

One resembled a bull with horn-like protrusions on its head, its entire body covered in gleaming gray-green armor. It had one pair of thick arms and another pair of agile ones.

The other looked like a hybrid of a demon and a hammerhead shark. Its dark green body appeared toxic, and three spike-tipped tails lashed behind it. Their size exceeded any Jaeger, already surpassing a hundred meters!

"Be careful, Mr. Natsuki!" Inside Crimson Typhoon's cockpit, Wei Hu Tang called out a warning.

He clearly remembered Marshal Pentecost's order to avoid engaging the enemy as much as possible.

"Isn't this perfect timing?" Seeing these two Kaiju, Natsuki's eyes lit up instead.

Hearing this, Wei Hu Tang immediately realized Natsuki was about to fight the Kaiju again.

He quickly tried to dissuade him: "Mr. Natsuki, please conserve your stamina. The Marshal suggested we avoid combat."

"Our reinforcements will arrive soon."

As Crimson Typhoon's pilot, following orders was his primary duty. He hoped Natsuki would listen.

Unfortunately, if this were a planet with sufficient danger levels, Natsuki definitely would have listened.

"You know, we need a Kaiju corpse as a passport to pass through the Breach," Natsuki said over the comms with complete seriousness.

"But you already salvaged Otachi's corpse, didn't you?" Wei Hu Tang froze, then forced himself to speak.

"It's not complete. What if we can't get through?" Natsuki countered.

"This..." Wei Hu Tang hesitated again.

Seeing his hesitation, Natsuki pulled off an action the Wei brothers would never forget.

"BOOM!"

Shaolin Rogue raised its arm slightly, aimed at the rocks exposed on the ocean surface where Otachi's massive corpse lay, and instantly fired a thermite warhead. It struck Otachi, and after a small explosion, the corpse began to burn fiercely.

Otachi was cremated.

"Sorry, hand slipped," Natsuki said without batting an eye.

"Well... looks like we need to find another corpse."

He then looked toward the two terrifying beasts with their overwhelming presence.

"Hey, what a coincidence—there are two fresh ones right here!"

Wei Hu Tang: "..."

Wei Hu Long: "..."

Wei Hu Xiang: "..."

You're right, what a coincidence indeed.
