Chapter 9 - Choy

Fu Hua walked quietly through the neon-lit streets, her thoughts drifting.

I was going to spend some of the reward on the gacha after switching to the White Night Deacon form…

She glanced at the card in her hand.

But looking at that kid's injuries… she'll need treatment. Better to hold off on the draws for now.

She tucked the card away and stepped into the hotel.

Inside the room, the white-haired girl lay unconscious, her body covered in bruises and cuts.

Fu Hua sat beside her, picked up the medical supplies, and began applying ointment with practiced care.

The girl winced, her brows twitching from the sting. Slowly, her eyes fluttered open—fearful and confused.

"It hurts…!"

"I know. Just bear with it. The medicine will help."

"It's… you. You saved me…"

Fu Hua didn't look up. She continued wrapping the bandages with steady hands.

"It's fine. Judging by your uniform, you're with the Silver Squad."

"You… you know us?"

"Not much. But I'll try to contact someone once you're stable."

"Relatives…?"

"Anby. You know her?"

The girl's eyes lit up.

"Anby! She's my sister! But… didn't she… didn't she die protecting me?"

"That's what people thought. But she survived. She's with a new organization now—doing well, from what I've heard."

"She's alive… That's… that's amazing…"

"Careful. Don't reopen your wounds."

Fu Hua finished dressing the injuries and looked at the girl—frail, but alive.

"What's your name?"

"Harin…"

Fu Hua nodded.

So this is Soldier 11(Harin)… poor kid.

The silence lingered awkwardly. Fu Hua glanced at the sandwich on the table.

"You must be hungry. Here."

She handed it over gently.

"Thank you…"

Harin hesitated, then looked up.

"I really want to find my sister… but until then, can I stay with you?"

Fu Hua blinked, surprised.

"I'm not strong like the others, but I'm smart. I can help. Please… let me repay you."

Fu Hua didn't answer immediately.

Harin reached out and gently tapped Fu Hua's forehead.

A soft pulse of ether flowed between them. Harin's anxious energy calmed, her pain easing.

"I understand. But first, rest."

"Okay…"

Fu Hua noted how composed she still was. No signs of deeper trauma—at least not yet.

"What's your name?" Harin asked softly.

"Fu Hua."

"Miss Fu Hua… can you tell me more about Anby?"

Fu Hua sat by the window, flipping through a theoretical manual she wasn't really reading.

"I don't know the details. But she's found a good place. And she seems happy."

"That's all I need to hear."

They chatted a little more—small things, light things.

Later, Fu Hua returned with warm food and medicine.

"Tomorrow, if you're feeling better, I'll take you home. If not, don't push it. Rest as long as you need."

She placed a phone on the nightstand.

"If anything happens, it's right here. Just call."

Fu Hua stood, her voice soft.

"I'll be in the next room. Good night."

She closed the door behind her, leaving Harin in the quiet glow of the bedside lamp.
