Fu Hua tapped open the system panel.
Inside: A pouch of Dennies and a keycard.
"Enough Dennies to last a month… First, buy a phone. Then repay Qingyi. That should leave me with half a month's budget. After that—let's check out this 'home' of mine."
She straightened her clothes and stepped out of the hospital.
After purchasing a basic smartphone, she followed the address etched on the keycard.
And her eyes widened.
"Wait… this place is downtown? That's prime real estate. Must've cost a fortune."
"If I sold it, I could make big money… But for now, I don't know the city well. So better to stay put. I'll think about it if I ever run out of food."
She entered the building, stopping at Unit 603 on the sixth floor.
A full-floor flat—quiet, spacious, and private.
Swipe. Click. The door opened.
Inside was minimalist, sterile. But Fu Hua didn't mind.
"Let's go get some furniture and some daily necessaries."
So she headed to a nearby store and bought a pale blue bed set.
Then, for reasons she couldn't explain, she picked up a ceramic jar.
Back home, she stared at her haul: steamed buns, pickled vegetables, and fresh greens ready for fermentation.
"Why… why do I instinctively want to pickle Spring Everlasting?"
Note-(It refers to a traditional Chinese preserved vegetable dish made from a leafy green for those who don't know)
She sighed.
"I wanted something better… but whatever. I already bought it. Let's just make do with what I have."
After setting up the bed, she sat at the dining table.
Expression blank, she ate—one bite of bun, one bite of pickles.
"Maybe I should find a job. Or take some commissions at least."
As for Hollow missions? Fu Hua scoffed.
"That level of erosion? Might as well be fresh air. I could basically live in a Hollow."
She yawned.
"Let's just go to sleep first. Then tomorrow head to the Public Security Bureau to repay Qingyi."
In the bedroom, she stared at her reflection.
"Technically, this world is blessed by the Temple. Based on my past gameplay… the women here are all absurdly strong."
"So I should be too, right?"
She grabbed a measuring tape, curious.
Fu Hua knelt on the floor, gray hair drooping.
Her face was pale. Her body trembled.
"Why… with my height and build… even without a D, I should at least be a C…"
"Why is it still flat…"
"Ha… hahaha… whatever. Time to sleep."
So she collapsed onto the bed, defeated.
The Next Morning
Sunlight spilled into the room.
Fu Hua woke refreshed, her energy fully restored.
After a quick stretch and wash, she donned her blue training gear, strapped on her wrist guards, and put on her glasses.
Using her phone's GPS, she headed to the Bureau.
As she stepped through the front doors, she spotted Qingyi—twin teal ponytails—and beside her, Zhu Yuan, whose physique screamed combat prowess.
They were having a conversation by the bulletin board.
Fu Hua hesitated at first, but then walked over.
"Excuse me. Do you two have a moment?"
Both turned.
"Oh, it's you. Feeling better?"
"I am still recovering but better than before now."
"Senior, who's this?"
"The girl I rescued yesterday. Found her collapsed in an alley, gawking like she was dying."
"Ahem… it was just a setback in cultivation. Got caught by a stray inner demon."
"I see. So you're here for…"
Zhu Yuan blinked. These two sounded like ancient sages.
She couldn't quite keep up.
"To repay my debt."
