Dorie Li was invited to a high class dinner to celebrate the new year by her grandmother , Qui Li, the current owner of the make-up and design company qui. The dinner was to take place in a local high class hotel known for the one's with heavy pockets only. The hotel's name was enough to send shivers down one's spine. Everyone with an invitation was in the hotel waiting for the doyenne of the family to make her iconic entry. After some few minutes the doors flung open Qui Li with her signature look , a ceo haircut and a staff that complements her clothing. Behind her was the heir of the qui company, Dorie Li .
~ At the dining table ~
Everyone had had a satisfactory meal when Qui Li stood up the make an announcement.
''Today marks the day I retire to pave way for the new generation a new generation that is destined to push this company to even higher greatness. I'd like to present the new leader of this company whom I have selected. Dorie Li if you will..''
Dorie Li stood on her summon and from the look on most of the faces present, one could tell that no one loved Qui's decision. The proper criteria to choosing the next heir is choosing the most prolific candidate among the children not grandchildren. But this was Qui's decision so no one dared to object. Everyone just clapped their hands on her speech but the energy around the dining table was different. After dinner, everyone went outside to admire the beautiful fireworks adorning the skies after which everyone left for their respective homes.
It was around 3:00 AM when Dorie got a call.
"who's seriously calling at this hour? can't they tell its already bedtime? (looking at her phone) "
"(picking it up) Hello?"
"Hello"
"What do you want from me"
"I just called to make sure you were enjoying the last minutes of your life"
"Is that statement supposed to scare me because it didn't"
"Really?"
"No, fakely! (sarcastically)"
"I didn't realize my next target would be this feisty , I actually enjoy it"
"Oh please is that all you have to say ? well..."
"Actually... yes but..."
Dorie Li then cut the call
"I was in the middle of a really interesting dream but that moron just had to call its not like he had an important reason. Damn him... my dream..."
The anonymous caller was left wondering to himself what just happened
"Wait... did... did she just hang up on me?...I guess this target might be more interesting than she seems its best for me to have my fun before I terminate her"
The caller then took a puff from his cigarette, smirked and looked at the skies.
"There sure are many stars out tonight I just hope one day someone would set me free from my pain. (scoffs) Look at me... free? Well I guess everyone has dreams even piece of shit like me but free might be stretching my dreams to impossible extents...extents I left buried down that coffin"
