Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Final Exam (Part 1)

"Good afternoon, aspiring Hunters, we'll be supervising your final Practical Training exam. My name is Hal Jilque, it's nice to meet you," One of the Hunters introduced himself with a smile.

Let's run a quick Appraisal:

Power Level: 357,300

Potential: 382,600

Okay, a K-Ranked Saber with the Fire Attribute, and he's fulfilled a significant amount of his Potential. His Power Level and Potential would be a lot higher if his MP wasn't so low for his rank.

He had long, dark blonde hair that was tied in a thick braid that went halfway down his back, light brown eyes, a fairly tanned complexion, and he has a strong, sturdy build.

He was wearing a white shirt under a dark brown, sleeveless leather armored top, with braces around his elbows.

His sword was strapped diagonally across his back with the handle over his right shoulder, and he had on black leather armored trousers with black boots that went up to his knees, with metal plates on them over his calves.

As for the other Hunter serving as a supervisor for this raid...

"Hi, I'm Ferna Feld, I'm a Healer," She introduced herself with a polite bow of her head.

Let's see what she's capable of, Appraisal:

Personal Details:

Name: Ferna Feld

Age: 29

Gender: Female

Height: 5'8"

Weight: 78 KG

Hunter Details:

Type: Mage

Class: Healer

Attribute: N/A

Spells: Low Heal, Heal, Low Area Heal, Low Antidote, Low Remedy, High Heal, Area Heal, Antidote, Remedy

Skills: N/A

Stats:

HP: 205

MP: 482

Strength: 204

Agility: 236

Vitality: 206

Perception: 228

Mana Level: 482,000

Power Level: 260,200

Potential: 274,500

Woah, her physical stats are pretty high for a Mage, and based on the number of Spells she's mastered, she's likely close to having full control over her Magic.

As far as K-Ranked Mages go, both her Power Level and Mana Level put her among the best in her rank.

She's got a pair of daggers strapped to either side of her belt, and that, along with her stats, indicates that she isn't constrained to solely playing a support role.

She also had a staff latched across her back, with a long wooden handle and a glowing white orb at the end of it.

Most Mages wield a staff, it helps them direct their Spells, and the best ones can even boost the potency of their Magic by upto around ten percent. Specifically, boosted by the orbs embedded in the staffs.

Well, they don't have to be embedded to staffs, some Mages use bracelets or gloves embedded with the orbs instead, but most find staffs easiest to use.

The orbs, which are known as Mana Orbs, are made of a mix of Monster Cores and other Monster materials.

They're initially clear and transparent, and take on a similar hue to the color of the user's Aura, which depends on their Class. Healers have white Auras, hence the white Mana Orb.

Mana Orbs aren't compatible with Combatants though, they have no effect on Skills, and they don't work on some Mage Classes too, Teleporters and Detectors have no use for them since they don't make any difference to their Magic.

But when it comes to Healers, pretty much all of them use Mana Orbs, since they boost the effects of their Healing Spells.

And based on Appraisal, her staff is a pretty good one, with a high quality Mana Orb, it amplifies the effects of her Spells by eight percent.

She had long, straight black hair tied up in a ponytail, light green eyes, a fair complexion, and a slender, agile and attractive build.

She was wearing a long-sleeved, dark blue leather armored top that covered her neck, with a metal breastplate over her chest, fingerless black gloves with square metal plates on the back of her hands, and black shorts that went halfway down her thighs over dark blue tights, and slender black boots that went a couple inches above her knees.

"It's nice to meet you, we appreciate you being here to supervise us. I'm Ariella Velle, the Captain of this party," Ariella introduced herself with a smile.

She had on her usual gear, a black armored tank top made of the same material as my gear, fiery red gauntlets that went up past her elbows, along with matching, knee-high boots and skirt over black tights.

Today's the day, the 20th of December, 2168, the final Practical Training exam is moments away from beginning.

This is my first Mid Level raid, the potential gains to my stats should be much higher than what I got in the Low Level raids, it's pretty tantalizing to think about.

But I shouldn't get too ahead of myself, this is bound to be the most dangerous raid I've participated in so far, even more so than my first raid. I can't let my guard down.

"Alright, whenever you're ready, we can get started. I assume you've already settled on a formation?" Hal asked her.

"Mhm, yeah, we're all set on that front," She nodded in response.

Not that this is saying much, but she's a much, much better leader than Trey was. I know, a low bar, but still.

For the formation, we'd split the nine members of the party into three rows. I was up front with Ariella and the K-Rank Potential Lancer guy from my first raid.

The middle row was made of the Attack Mages in the group, Trey with his Water Magic, and then a Q-Rank Potential Wind Mage girl and a Q-Rank Potential Ice Mage guy.

And the back row consisted of the Support Mages, a K-Rank Potential Protector girl, and a Healer guy and Detector guy, both with Q-Rank Potential.

I mean, besides Ariella, I'm not at all close with any of the others, and I probably won't see much of most of them once I graduate from the Academy.

I certainly hope it'll be the last I ever see of Trey after graduation, I'd love nothing more than for our paths to never cross again.

"Well, everyone? Are you ready to head in?" Inquired Ariella, as she looked around at the others.

"Yeah, kinda nervous but I'm ready as I'll ever be."

"Same here, I actually think I'll get more anxious the longer we wait, so the sooner the better."

"Yup, what he said."

I gave her a thumbs up as she glanced at me, and as no one voiced any objections, we proceeded to get into formation and approached the entrance of the Dungeon.

I glanced back at Trey, who averted his gaze with a sullen look on his face. He's been really quiet ever since I humiliated him in our duel.

Fortunately for him, none of our other classmates besides Ariella knows about it, and I'm not so petty as to spread the word and humiliate him even further...at least, not unprovoked.

Now, then, time to focus up. Here we go, my first Mid Level Dungeon, I'm excited to-...huh?

What the...?

As we entered the Dungeon, finding ourselves in a sandy, desert-like space, I got a strange feeling.

The area was baking in a dry, sweltering heat, with a thick layer of sand on the ground, our feet sinking in with every step, but that wasn't what had me concerned.

This feeling, is it...my passive lie detection? I don't understand, what exactly is setting it off?

Something isn't right here...this Dungeon, it's got an air of deception about it. I'm not even sure what that means, but I'm getting a bad feeling...
