Chapter 70 - Chapter 69: Yamabuki VS Baraggan (I'm Getting Serious)

Baraggan watched Yamabuki perform a series of strange movements, his brow twitching—if he had eyebrows, that is.

"Brat, are you making fun of me?" Baraggan raised the giant axe in his hand and brought it down on Yamabuki, the sharp wind sweeping everything.

Yamabuki quickly used Shunpo to dodge, while spewing trash talk: "Baraggan, you trash! You won't even let someone warm up! You're a little brother, you don't even have a little ding-ding, you can't enjoy the joy of being a man with women on both arms! You should just dye the crown on your head green!"

The red light in Baraggan's eye sockets flickered. Once I catch this brat, I'll definitely tear his mouth off. How can a person be so despicable!

Chōjirō Sasakibe also whispered: "Why didn't I realize before that Brother Yamabuki was so annoying? I even want to go up and slap him!"

Feng Yuan: Me too.

Despite his insults, Yamabuki's movements didn't slow down at all. He used Shunpo to get behind Baraggan and slashed at Baraggan's neck with his sword.

Baraggan didn't even turn his head, swinging his axe back. The Zanpakutō and the giant axe collided. Yamabuki felt as if he had run into a mountain; his body was sent flying by an irresistible force, tumbling twice in mid-air before he barely managed to stabilize himself. But when he looked up, he was surprised to find that Baraggan had disappeared from in front of him.

"Brat, where are you looking?" Baraggan's voice suddenly appeared from behind Yamabuki. Yamabuki quickly turned around, only to see a large axe hack down at him. It was too late to dodge or use Shunpo. In the nick of time, Yamabuki's body suddenly vanished, and spatial vibrations emanated from around his body.

Baraggan was startled, then roared: "Brat, aren't you a Shinigami? Why can you use a Hollow's Sonido?"

Yamabuki, having narrowly escaped death, was also covered in cold sweat. He hadn't expected to actually succeed. Sonido, the Hollow's exclusive movement technique, similar to a short-distance flash. He had seen so many Hollows use it and had always wanted to try it. He hadn't expected to actually succeed!

"Not only can I use a Hollow's Sonido..." Yamabuki controlled the reishi of Hueco Mundo, condensing it into a giant Reishi Arrow: "Heilig Pfeil (knock-off version)."

The giant Reishi Arrow fired at Baraggan like a laser cannon. Although the difference in strength between them was immense, Baraggan still felt a severe threat.

He gripped his axe with both hands and shattered the Reishi Arrow with a single swing.

"Hmm? All bark and no bite? It looks scary, but its power isn't that great!" Baraggan thought in confusion. But when he looked up, he saw five identical Reishi Arrows already condensed in the sky.

Damn!

The five Reishi Arrows fired simultaneously, bombarding Baraggan. Baraggan swung his giant axe, blocking the incoming Reishi Arrows, unable to advance a single step.

The reishi density in Hueco Mundo was even higher than in Soul Society; small creatures could survive just by breathing. This situation was perfect for Yamabuki, who could control reishi, as he barely had to worry about spiritual pressure consumption.

"Are these all the petty tricks you have?" Baraggan roared in exasperation. He was spending so much time on such a minor character. How would his subordinates view him in the future? How could he continue to be their big brother?

"Cero!"

Black spiritual pressure, carrying the aura of decay, condensed in Baraggan's hand. Yamabuki immediately knew he was screwed; it was a powerful Cero.

The black light tore through the sky, instantly shattering the five Reishi Arrows. Yamabuki also used Shunpo to dodge, looking quite disheveled.

"Don't think you're the only one who can use Cero!" Yamabuki condensed a silvery-white Cero in his hand and blasted it towards Baraggan.

Baraggan countered with another Cero.

The two beams of light collided in front of Las Noches, and the resulting spiritual pressure explosion made the surrounding Hollows tremble.

However, the essence of a Cero is spiritual pressure, and Yamabuki's spiritual pressure was far inferior to Baraggan's current level. His silver Cero was quickly defeated by Baraggan's black Cero.

"Brat, your abilities are nothing but show! While I don't know how you obtained the power of a Hollow, I guarantee you won't leave here alive." Baraggan approached step by step, and Yamabuki's expression turned grim.

He did have many techniques, but insufficient spiritual pressure was the biggest problem. If he had Captain-level spiritual pressure, he might be able to contend with Baraggan.

But Vice Captain-level spiritual pressure facing the King of Hueco Mundo was too difficult.

After all, there was only one Ōmaeda in this world.

"What? Have you realized the difference between us? Are you despairing so quickly?" Baraggan looked at Yamabuki with disdain.

Small tricks are, after all, just small tricks; spiritual pressure is everything.

The next second, Baraggan vanished, appearing directly in front of Yamabuki.

His massive axe came crashing down.

Yamabuki interspersed his use of Shunpo, Hirenkyaku, and Sonido, but all three abilities are ultimately tied to one's spiritual pressure; the stronger the spiritual pressure, the faster the Shunpo and Sonido.

Suddenly, Yamabuki's shoulder dipped.

Baraggan's Sonido had broken through his detection nerves, and he grabbed Yamabuki's shoulder directly.

"Kid, game over!" Baraggan squeezed with his large hand, and the bones in Yamabuki's shoulder instantly cracked.

Yamabuki retaliated with a swing of his Zanpakutō, forcing Baraggan back, and immediately used Kaidō to repair his damaged body.

Through his research into Kaidō, Yamabuki also discovered its drawback: recovery takes time.

Even the most advanced Kaidō cannot reverse this; if the rate of the injured person's life force loss exceeds the rate of recovery, then Kaidō is useless.

Just like in the Thousand-Year Blood War, Retsu Unohana's Kaidō couldn't save the severely injured Byakuya, Rukia, and Renji Abarai.

However, repairing his shoulder now was still no problem.

"Kid, are you still going to struggle? I'll give you a chance: kneel at my feet and call me king, and if I'm in a good mood, I might just let you live!" Baraggan believed he had the upper hand.

Although Yamabuki had many tricks, his spiritual pressure was insufficient to pose a significant threat.

It was like a level four mage, even with all skills learned, still only scratched a level fifteen fully-geared tank.

This wasn't a matter of skill; the fundamental attributes of both sides were too far apart.

Yamabuki, while repairing his shoulder, coldly stared at Baraggan.

The spiritual pressure within his body had reached its limit; just one more step forward, and he could fully break through to Captain-level.

At that point, even if he couldn't defeat Baraggan, he would at least have room to maneuver.

But would Baraggan give him that chance?

"Looking at your eyes, I can tell you're unwilling.

I'm not some demon; I'll give you a quick end!" Baraggan raised the massive axe in his hand, and with a Sonido, instantly appeared behind Yamabuki, bringing the axe down on him.

Just at this critical moment, the spiritual pressure accumulated within Yamabuki finally broke through its limit!

"To hell with you! Finally, Captain-level spiritual pressure! Go to hell!"
