Chapter 2 - First Step Beyond World

Let's see what world's unlocked now.

As the wheel slowed down, the name flickered into view: Eminence in Shadow.

Huh. I know that one. Isn't that the world where the main dude experiments on a girl and somehow ends up creating a whole organisation with her to fight a fake cult that, by surprise, turns out to be real? Yeah, that one. Some fans even say the guy's got reality manipulation or something, he just doesn't realise it and uses it on instinct.

If I remember right, they use mana in that world, kind of like how manhwa characters use aura. It's not all flashy spells and magic circles at first; most of the time it's used to boost strength, speed, and stuff like that. Basically, steroids but with style.

And the most iconic move? I am Atomic. The guy basically nukes everything around him. Energy-based attack, pure annihilation. I'd rank that somewhere between city-level and maybe continent-level, depending on the blast area.

I've only seen season one though, so I'm not sure what happens later. I heard some folks online saying he might reach solar level after season two, but honestly, I'm not buying it till I see it myself. People love to exaggerate power levels.

Still, one thing's clear: that world is way more normal compared to my world or Marvel. Which actually makes it the perfect test site for the travel system.

Sure, I might not be able to use their mana system here, but what I can bring back is experience. Real combat. Real kills.

I mean, I've got Batman's training now. All that discipline, stealth, and strategy. But I can't make any big moves in this world since there are too many eyes watching. One wrong step and I'll have every Anbu and Root agent breathing down my neck. Danzo will not hesitate to take advantage of any slip, and I can't gamble that Hiruzen will save me.

That world, though, is different. No one knows me there. I can move freely, act without restriction, and experiment as I want. It's the perfect sandbox to get comfortable with what I've learned from Batman, to turn theory into practice.

And as for the "no-kill rule"? Yeah, I didn't exactly inherit that part. Looks like the gacha system lets me filter what I want from a template, which is good because out here, I can't afford to hold back.

Still, there's one thing that bugs me. I found an "Important Note" tab in the system menu a while back, buried deep under all the flashy options, and it basically said this whole setup has a timer. Nineteen years left, to be exact.

After that, poof, it's gone.

Yeah, not the best news. Once that countdown hits zero, I lose the system entirely. No more spins, no more easy access to new worlds. But it's not all bad. I can access twenty other worlds, which means I have far more possibilities and options than anyone else.

Plus, it mentioned that new features will unlock as time passes. Meaning there's a chance that by the end, I might not just travel to worlds, I might be able to bring back the powers I gain there permanently.

Despite all the excitement about new possibilities, I keep my expression calm. Batman is a master of keeping his emotions hidden, and so am I now.

I'm probably being watched right now.

No, not probably. I'm sure of it.

Even after a year since the massacre, there's no way Hiruzen would just let me roam free without surveillance. I'm the last "official" Uchiha left in Konoha, so of course they'd keep tabs on me. Maybe not as intensely as Naruto, who's got Anbu shadowing him twenty-four seven, but there's definitely someone assigned to watch from a distance.

And Danzo… he's a whole different headache.

That old war hawk probably still dreams about adding more Sharingan to his little "collection." I wouldn't put it past him to keep an eye on me in case Itachi decides to sneak back for a visit. If that ever happens, Danzo would jump at the chance to ambush him. Mangekyō Sharingan is too tempting a prize for a rat like him to resist.

That's another reason I haven't used the travel system yet. Heading into Marvel without enough power would be straight-up suicide, not because of the world itself, but because of the attention it'd bring back here. If I vanish for even a few hours, Hiruzen will use it as an excuse to "invite" me for a nice, friendly chat.

Yeah… no thanks.

Now that Eminence in Shadow is finally unlocked, and honestly, compared to Marvel, it's a whole lot less suicidal, I can actually start using the possession option. It's the safest way to get some real experience without putting my neck on the line.

There's just one catch. Once I choose the travel method for a world, I can't change it later. It's locked in for good.

So if I pick possession mode for Eminence in Shadow, that world will always be accessed through possession. One method per world. No take-backs.

"Alright then," I muttered, lying down on my bed. I adjusted the pillow and pulled the blanket over my head to hide my face, partly out of habit, partly because of nerves. My heart was beating faster than I'd admit.

Possess, I said inwardly.

The next thing I knew, I wasn't in my own body anymore.

And I realised it instantly, not because I could sense everything about this new body, but because of the pain.

It wasn't the usual soreness from pushing myself too far in training. No, this was sharper, full of bruises, kicks, and punches, the kind of pain I usually give to idiots who pick fights with me, not the other way around.

"…Is this karma?" I muttered under my breath, grimacing.

Still, I forced myself to move. The pain burned through every nerve, but I had to get a read on my surroundings first. I pushed myself up, eyes darting around, taking in the scene.

An alley. Narrow, grimy, and empty, except for the faint chatter and footsteps at the far end, where people occasionally passed by.

I turned my head, scanning the sides. Nothing but cracked walls and trash. Then I heard it—a sudden creak followed by the sound of a window opening overhead.

Before I could react, something—a bucket or maybe a bag—fell from above, crashing nearby. Instinct kicked in, I tried to jump aside, but my legs screamed in protest. Too slow, too injured.

I hit the ground hard.

"...Great start," I hissed through my teeth.
