Cedric didn't even need to give explicit instructions before the bird descended like a black bolt of lightning, landing in front of the serpent.
The black cat snake hissed as it reared back, before lunging forward with a venomous strike. Arlo dodged it effortlessly, side-stepping the blow by flapping his wings before driving his claws down to pin the writhing reptile against the masonry. Then, with a single, brutal snap of his beak, he crushed its head.
From the point of impact, cold wisps of black decay oozed out of the wound, and the necrosis continued to spread rapidly across its scales.
Due to the impact of the dive, the now-dead snake was slammed hard against the stone railing before slowly crumbling into fine, dark ash.
