Clara followed Ethan out of the private elevator, her palms suddenly damp as the doors slid open into a quiet, carpeted hallway. Directly ahead stood two tall double doors, already open, revealing a spacious office washed in warm day light.
Ethan stepped in first, and Clara followed closely behind.
Axiel, who had been seated on Ethan's desk with crayons spread everywhere, immediately lifted his head up, eager to show his dad what he had drawn.
"Dad! Look. I drew..."
He froze mid sentence, eyes widening. "Mom!" Axiel suddenly called out as he
scrambled off the desk so fast his crayons flew to the floor. Clara barely had a moment to breathe or take in the office, before Axiel crashed into her stomach, hugging her with all the excitement his small body could hold.
"Hi, Mommy! I din't know you were coming. This is the best surprise ever! Dad told me you wouldn't come, but you came! You really came! I'm so happy mom you came! I missed you so much."
