Chapter 8 - Chapter8

Meanwhile, in the human world.

Fionna paced the small living room of David's rented house like a caged animal, her silver-blonde hair sticking to her sweat-damp forehead. The clock on the wall ticked louder than it should, each second stretching into eternity. David lay sprawled on the couch, his shirt cut open to expose the ugly bullet wound in his chest.

The purple shimmer of the wolf's bane still clung to the edges, mocking her every glance. His breathing was shallow, ragged, like he was fighting for every gasp and his skin had gone a sickly gray. She stopped pacing long enough to kneel beside him, pressing a cool cloth to his forehead.

"Hang on, David. Please."

She whispered, her voice thick with tears she refused to let fall. Starlight whined inside her, a low, mournful sound that vibrated in her bones.

'Mate hurts. Fix it.'

The front door burst open, making Fionna jump to her feet, claws half-extended before she caught herself. Cynthia stumbled in, breathless, clutching a small glass jar like it was made of gold. Her eyes were wild, cheeks flushed from running.

"I got it! Snuck into my mom's herb cabinet,I told her I needed it for a school project. She bought it, thank God."

She thrust the jar forward. Inside, a gritty blue powder swirled, labeled in faded ink:

"Anti-Wolf's Bane Serum."

Fionna grabbed it, her hands shaking as she unscrewed the lid. The scent hit her like a punch, bitter herbs and something wild and earthy.

"How do we use it?"

Cynthia wiped her brow as dropped her bag.

"Gran's notes said to mix it with water, make a paste, and pack it into the wound. It'll draw out the poison and neutralize it. But... It hurts like hell. Werewolves heal fast after, but he might scream."

"Do it."

Fionna said, already grabbing a bowl from the kitchen and pouring in water. She stirred in the powder until it formed a thick blue sludge. Cynthia held David's shoulders down while Fionna peeled back the cloth and smeared the paste over the hole in his chest.

The moment it touched the skin, David arched off the couch with a guttural roar, his blue eyes snapping open in agony. Veins bulged on his neck, sweat pouring down his face as purple smoke, actual smoke, hissed out of the wound like steam from a kettle.

"David! It's me,stay with me!"

Fionna gripped his hand, her other palm flat against his chest, willing Starlight's strength into him. He thrashed once, twice and then went limp, his roar fading to a whimper. The purple faded, replaced by the blue paste hardening like a scab. Cynthia let out a shaky laugh, slumping against the wall.

"Holy shit, it worked. He's... he's gonna be okay."

Fionna collapsed beside him, exhaustion hitting her like a brick. But relief was short-lived. She turned to Cynthia, who was staring at her with a mix of awe and demand.

"You promised. Tell me everything. Now."

Fionna nodded, taking a deep breath. She sat cross-legged on the floor, pulling Cynthia down with her. David stirred faintly, his fingers twitching toward hers, but he was out cold.

"Okay. From the beginning. My real name,my first life, was Iris Dwayne. Daughter of Alpha Dewayne Bloodmoon, ruler of Angel Grove, a hidden werewolf kingdom. War befalled my kingdom and I lost my siblings, my mom was killed by this sickness she had been suffering from. My dad remarried to this psycho, Luna Elizabeth, who stabbed him in his sleep and framed me that I am the one that stabbed my own father and the pack burned me alive."

Her voice cracked, but she pushed on, describing the flames, the mysterious figure and the rebirth deal. Cynthia's eyes grew wider with every word.

"Werewolves. Real packs, alphas and mates. David's real name is Grotius Ironclaw, son of my dad's best friend, Beta Ironclaw. He swore to protect me and the voice in my head?."

"Yeah, what about it?."

Cynthia asked as she gazed curiously at Fionna.

" It is Starlight, my wolf spirit. And those assholes today? They were sent by Elizabeth and my uncle Vlartues, to kill me."

Cynthia rubbed her temples as she processed everything that Fionna had just told her.

"So... I'm in a freaking fantasy novel? And Rose at school? Just bullies compared to this?"

Fionna managed a weak smile.

"Yeah. But you're in it now, Cyn. You saved him. You're in the pack now."

The word felt right and warm. Cynthia grinned, punching her arm lightly.

"Pack, huh? Cool. But what now? We can't stay here, they'll come again."

Cynthia as she gazed around.

"You are right, Cynthia, we can't stay here any longer."

David spoke as he slowly sat up.

"David, you are awake."

Fionna spoke with a smile wrapped around her face.

"Yes, I am, thanks to the both of you."

David spoke, his voice laced with happiness as he gazed at Fionna.

"So what now?, Luna Elizabeth isn't going to stop hunting you until you are dead."

Cynthia spoke as she gazed at David and Fionna, whose face was marked with worry.

"Let's get to your house, Fionna,I need to see your parents."

David spoke as he wined in pain and hit up to his feet.

"My parents?."

Fionna asked as she glanced at Cynthia and then back to David,.who was putting on a new shirt.

"Why do you want to see them?."

She asked again.

David then smirked and then said.

"You will know when we meet them first, now let's get going."

David, Fionna and Cynthia stormed out of the house and immediately Cynthia waved down a cab and then the both of them entered.

"What is our destination?"

The cab driver asked as he gazed at the rear window.

"No.23 Belmont Street."

Fionna responded. The cab driver then nodded, he then zoomed off to the destination given to him.

After4 minutes on the road they finally arrived at Fiona's parents house, the three of them got out of the cab and Cynthia paid the cab driver off.

Fionna then knocks at the door and her father. Opened it up and saw Fionna his face was marked with a smile and when saw David and the necklace that was on his neck.

"Come in, come in."

Mr Ramos spoke, as he swung open the door. Fionna face was marked with confusion as she, Cynthia and David walked in.

"Daddy, why are you acting…"

Immediately, Mr Ramos interjected as he called his wife.

"Gladden, darling, come down quick, he is here."

He spoke, his voice heavy with the weight of urgency. Mrs Gladden Ramos rushed down the stairs.

"Who is here, honey?

She asked as she walked down the stairs, her eyes fell on David, who immediately greeted her with a nod. She then gazed at her husband, Mr Ramos, whose face was marked with a little smile as tears rolled down his eyes.

"So, it is time."

She said as she gazed at Fionna whose face was still marked with confusion. She walked over to her an

d then slowly placed her hands on her cheeks. Tears welled down from her eyes.

"My daughter, Princess Iris Dewayne."

Fionna eyes widened as she gazed at her mother, whose eyes overflowed with tears.
