Chapter 177 - 176

The storm of the unscheduled flash mob eventually cleared, leaving the auditorium buzzing with an electric, chaotic energy that spilled straight out into the winter sunshine.

The main courtyard of Kirin Arts High School transformed almost instantly. What had been a cold, rigid administrative parade ground just hours prior was now a sprawling, vibrant festival of noise, color, and laughter—reminiscent of the chaotic Club Fair San had witnessed during his first month in autumn.

Parents arrived in waves, carrying massive, elegant bouquets of winter lilies, roses, and baby's breath, wrapping their children in proud, tearful hugs. Even though it was merely the conclusion of the second-year first term, the sheer emotional weight in the air felt like a full-scale graduation.

Families gathered in clusters near the stone archways, students exchanged commemorative notes, and camera flashes flickered endlessly across the stone pavers.

San stood beside his host family near the central fountain, holding a massive bouquet of yellow and white flowers that Mrs. Lee had presented to him the moment she stepped onto the grounds.

"Look at you," Mr. Lee said warmly, patting San's broad shoulder as Ji-hoon adjusted his own scarf. "Rank 97 and a successful term speech. You survived your first year in Korea, San-gun."

'Well, technically it really felt like a year, lol.'

"I told you he wouldn't fail," Mrs. Lee smiled, her usual sharp anchor persona melting completely into a proud, motherly glow as she adjusted the lapel of San's blazer. "Though the unscheduled musical performance at the end nearly gave the department heads a heart attack."

San let out an airy, embarrassed laugh, scratching the back of his neck.

"I had zero involvement in that, Eomeonim, I swear."

While Mr. Lee raised his phone to snap another family portrait of San, Ha-neul, and Ji-hoon.

"Pardon the interruption, Anchor Lee!"

Kang Min-ah appeared out of nowhere, performing a lightning-fast, crisp 90-degree bow toward Mrs. Lee before immediately grabbing San's heavy wrist with one hand and Ha-neul's coat sleeve with the other.

"Min-ah-ya!" Ha-neul gasped as she was yanked off balance. "What are you doing?!"

"You two can take domestic family portraits all evening!" Min-ah declared authoritatively, her pink Samsung phone clutched tightly in her gloved fingers. "Class 2-B is assembling right now! Move, move, move!"

Before Mrs. Lee could even protest, Min-ah dragged San and Ha-neul straight across the crowded courtyard toward the steps of the main building, where the entire roster of Class 2-B was already gathering in a loud, chaotic assembly.

Myung-dae was slouching near the back row with his hands shoved deep into his pockets, looking like he wanted to sleep and Jun-seo was standing near the front, hopelessly trying to organize the students into proper height order.

"Finally!" Ms. Choi called out from the center of the steps, holding a clipboard while the third-year head of the Photography Club adjusted a heavy DSLR camera on a tall tripod. "Representative Motuzenko, stop lingering! Get in the center!"

Min-ah aggressively shoved San straight toward the middle of the group, positioning his massive frame right beside Ms. Choi, while Ha-neul squeezed in on his other side. Jun-seo offered a quiet, amused nod from the row below, and even Myung-dae let out a faint, rare smirk from behind San's shoulder.

"Alright, Class 2-B!" the third-year student photographer shouted, raising his hand above the lens. "Look at the camera! On three—one, two..."

San looked out over the crowded courtyard—at the towering gates, at Mrs. Lee and Dr. Lee waving from near the fountain, at his chaotic bandmates and classmates crowding around his shoulders, and at the bright, clear winter sky hanging over Seoul.

The heavy anxiety that had weighed on his chest for months—the fear of failing, the pressure of the ranking boards, the ghost of W-Naut, and the suffocating uncertainty of being a stranger in a foreign land—seemed to quiet down all at once.

A genuine, unforced, and radiant smile broke across his face.

Click.

In that single, frozen frame, surrounded by the noise and warmth of Kirin, San finally felt it. He was relieved. He was grounded.

He was truly, really, and literally, and just a little bit of a little of fine.
