Gasp!!!
Travis jolted upright, finding himself submerged in a body of water. Everything around him shimmered with light — the sunlight warm and alive — but something felt different. There were no giant trees towering overhead, only a few scattered ones surrounding a quiet lake.
He looked down and realized he was dripping wet. The water where he had lain moments ago was now tinged red — blood.
Wait… was he dead again?
"Congratulations, you're dead," came a familiar, annoying voice.
Travis groaned. He didn't know whether to be relieved that he recognized the voice or to panic that she might have followed him into the afterlife — which was absolutely impossible.
"What happened this time? How the hell am I here again? And why do I keep appearing in another dimension? Is this, oh, let me guess — the world of trees?" he said sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
With a puff of light, the fairy appeared, holding her ever-present stick.
