Chapter 2 - Escaping the void

What does the end of the universe looks like? This question has always baffled peoole, putting them time think about it, imagining it. But who knew that was their biggest mistake.

Because the day reality and matter both began to crack and the world was splintered into infinite pieces. They saw it themselves- the end of the world or what they would call 'The Fissure'.

There was no afterlife, within seconds every living being whether old or young, strong or weak, smart or stupid, all were indiscriminately left as souls in the void.

But even after they have died, the people could think but not move, their souls wandering the void for eternity of the void as they each forgot who they were before.

All except few, a portion of people less than a billionth of the overall population. Their numbers less than 100 from earth even after combining every single one from all the species on it.

One of those was him, Frederx. A human who was outstanding in anything except imagination. He wasn't the best, but his obsession with possibilities and creativity was what preserved him in the void.

Frederx: 'I wonder. I wonder. '

Wondering was his hobby and his goal in the void, even as just a soul he refused to stop. Hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, millions, the amount of fantasy worlds he had created in his mind were enough to last him for the end of time.

However, maybe it was because of this that he caused it to happen, the absurd amount of thoughts became the fuel to restart the process of the creation.

Frederx: Huh?! *smiles mentally* This is new!

Floating in the void, these were his last words before his sensations were cut and next moment he felt something nostalgic hit him in the head.

*huff huff*

The sound of breathing reached his ears, the feeling of suffocation giving him the emotion of living. Slowly he opened his eyes, his vision stuck downwards as he slowly raised his palms.

Frederx: *confused* What.. Happened?

Immediately collapsing to his feet, Frederx heard the sound of metal hitting stone. He raised his head and looked around to find himself near a extinguished campfire in the middle of a blizzard.

Frederx: I am cold? Where is the void?

He began asking himself these questions before a thought popped up in his head.

Frederx: 'it can't be right? I am not that lucky!... But. ' *looks towards his hand* Status.

A transparent panel popper in his vision, a few words written in it as Frederx found it oddly familiar.

[Name-???? / Frederx]

[Class- Dragoon/(unselected)]

[Level- 73/ 0]

[Traits- 3(extend) ]

[Skills- 5(extend) ]

[Stats- 270(extend) ]

Frederx: ... ha. haha.. HAHAHAHAHA!!

The joy in his heart could now no longer be matched. Just the sheer thought of being able to leave in a fantasy world he had made a millions stories about excited Frederx to his bones.

He glanced towarda his legs and arms. He saw that he was wearing a sort of green armor that seemed to lack the shine of normal metals. On his back was spear with a harpoon like spearhead which he felt he could he had been using since his birth.

He raised his hand and clutched his spear, swinging it around as he danced in the snow like a lizard. He was fast, athletic as well which he never had in his previous life as-...

Frederx: why don't I remember?

He searched through his memories but found nothing of his past, It was almost as if he had thrown away who he was during his stagnation in the void.

Yet he didn't panic, rather he found himself unable to panic almost as if something was keeping him calm through the tension, keeping himself sane as a weak ting echoed in his mind.

[Trait activated: Emotionless]

Frederx: I see.. It looks at least I won't be going insane from overthinking. However- What do I do now?

What was his goal now? Frederx pondered. He had no idea of where he was. He know he was in a world he once referred to Runera but that didn't exactly help him spot his current location.

Frederx: Cold weather, a none stop blizzard, and harsh freezing winds that even my level 73 body is slowly becoming stiff and frozen. That leaves only three spots.

The first of the spots was the 'frozen keep', a cold desolate place where monsters thrived and it's skies were always red but not the one above Frederx so it was out.

The second was 'Tear plains' but the ground wasn't really matching the plains description since frederx could see mountain peaks in the distance so he ruled it out aswell.

Frederx: This means. *frowns* Curse my garbage luck, I am in everlost peaks.

'Everlost peaks' a mountain range that extends up to 200 miles of cold artic in radius and over 1000 miles of tundra surrounding it. Luckily Frederx wasn't in the artic zone since that would be a death sentence but the way out was still a problem as well as the problem of supplies.

This left him with only one option.

Frederx: Find supplies.

Ding

The transparent panel popped up once more. This time a little exclamation mark now flickering near the class section.

[Class- Dragoon/(choices available) !!! ]

Frederx: Just on time! *smiles*

Giving the panel a mental order, Frederx expended the status panel to reveal four options waiting for him to choose between.

Four classes- The artist, the Survivor, the Guard and Lastly, a wierdly named class called 'True Torch'.

The artist and the guard classes immediately rejected. They may hold some potential but even at best it was not very good to look at. The third option however was a choice that offered a much needed assurance.

It was a gatherer type class mixed with a production type. It won't be hard for Frederx to become proficient in gathering supplies but it still needed a little time.

But the fourth option, Frederx himself tilted his head towards it in confusion.

Frederx: Just what is this class? I haven't seen it before.. Open description.

[Class option- True Torch]

[A class that is given to those who can survive in the darkness of either the void or hell of demons without letting themselves be tainted by it for a long time]

[Type- Support, civilized, authority]

Frederx: Bulls***!!! This crap is clearly either overpowered or a trap!... *takes a few breaths* I should just pick old reliable Survivor.

Choosing to pick Survivor as his own class, Frederx focused to confirm his selection as he felt the cold slowly seeping into his skin. However he hesitated almost as if he was going to regret doing this.

His focus shifted to the 'True torch' class's system rating. A indirect option for tracking tiers for different classes by using different colours for their name.

Green meant normal, Blue meant those which needed certain skills or traits, Purple were rare, advanced version of Blue and fourth one was Red which matched tier 4 and equaled 4 purples combined together and lastly black which was the only tier possible before someone ascended.

And of course it was red. What else can i-...

Frederx: RED!!! *pauses and wipes his eyes*

Am I dreaming or something? The only times red tier classes appeared it was either after ascension or rarely as a class change after level 80 or hundred.

However here it was, a level 1 red tier class for a selection given to a starter like a admin backdoor hack.

Frederx: Should I take it? Should I not?

It was moral problem for frederx now. Nevertheless as one would expect, he picked it up after being unable to hold down his gamer urges.

Frederx: I am going to hell for sure. *tears in his eyes* I am gonna be sued by the universe for unfair practices of its laws.

But what's done is done, and a soon as class was selected, a skill was created alongside it as information flooded to Frederx's head.

Ding

[!! Skill acquired: Soul torch lvl-1]

[Effect: create a flame that doesn't run out as Long as the creator has not given up on life or wishes for the flame to extinguish. If used on a bonfire, create the waypoint flame that makes a area around it immune to weather.]

[Current area possible: 150 meters/ in radius]

A smile formed on Frederx's face, this skill was a life changer for someone who was currently stuck in a tundra with a endless blizzard.

Frederx: Skill activate!

He touched the went-out campfire in front of him. A white flame releasing from it as the small campfire grew so strong it rised up to 3 feet in height.

The clouds above also scattered, a hole forming in the blizzard as the moon light squished through before landing Frederx himself.

Frederx: 'This warmth.' I...*yawns* am going to sleep.

The snow melted away, Frederx collapsed onto the wet dirt. The bonfire gave him the heat he needed as he drifted to sleep in a instant.

He was going to explore but it wasn't going to be today. The world could wait a little more, a little sleep came first, a sleep taken after a eternity of death.
