Chapter 6 - Fragments of Time #1

Time is money and I am broke. I've gone for so long that time is no longer linear to me. My time isn't measured in seconds but by my mentality. Everything in this world works only because there is time. So why the hell am I breathing?

Isa wakes up on the train towards the Watchdog, no recollections of the previous day. 'Must be beer.' The great orange alarm crept out and shunned his eyes, he instinctively crouched down. The train handles twerked back and forth lulling Isa to sleep. Something from behind pulled Isa awake.

'I can't do that, I have a new kid to tend to today.'

"Next stop: Watchdogs." Isa hopped off the train and headed towards the tower. The train station is directly connected to the tower so there wasn't much travelling needed. Isa could feel the cold dry air rushing in, crashing into his face; he could feel it cracking up.

The massive arch folded upon the ceiling with gates slid down like a waterfall. The guard stood just in reach of the miniscule human-sized station beside it. The entrances are electrically charged, strong enough to kill anyone who touches it. That's why guards have stations.'Bills on that must be expensive.'

"Must be a new kid today?" The guard approached him and shook his hands. Isa instinctively snatched his own hands away from the guard. He scans his ID card and quickly heads into the building. Isa heads right and quickly into the bathroom sacrificing precious information. A stench clawed through his nose and out of his mouth. His throat folded in on itself, tinging due to the backflow of food. The ungentleman sound sang louder than the music playing on the speakers.

"That fucking bastard why did he try to touch me!?" Isa turned on the tap water allowing his blood flow elsewhere. "Who do they even hire these days? Random homeless?" The guards for the entrances are random on a 24 cycle, to prevent guards from building connections and allowing intruders to enter. According to the Mercenary King, the electrical gates are good enough.

'If you've missed it he had red eyes, possibly conjunctivitis. His breath stinks with his tongue with white silverish stains, he does not brush his teeth. His face and hands reflects light, full of oil. and I think that's enough evidence to think about.'

Isa washed his hands with soap, scrubbing his finger, interlocking them, perched his fingers to scratch his palms. He makes a reservoir for water. The water outruns the dam and goes outside, cooling his hands. It then rushes towards his face and does the same things. Isa rubs his face and stretches his eyelids. Out of nowhere, a man crept beside him and started washing his hands as well. He had perched eyes with his hairs in attention. 'Must've had the same experience as me.'

"What cunt?" The British accent activated Isa's recognition system, blood now in access to his body.

"Good morning November! Nice to see you here."

"I don't know what information you dug out of my arse but you better stop it before I come over and dig your grave instead."

"Hey hey hey relax bud, I didn't see or learn anything relax." Isa raised his hands, looking inferior.

November clutched his guns and took a good look and scanned Isa. He could see the black in his eyeballs reading him, bouncing back and forth. His shoulders dropped and tensed, "But if there's anything that happened to my loved ones I'll kill you; I don't care about being the enemy of the country do you understand?" The droplets on the floor flew backwards alongside Isa's eyelids.

'That's the power of being named an Investigator. People think I know everything but in reality I barely know anything. They choose to believe what I know and reveal what they want me to know. And if I don't know I can just act like I know and get a full course meal.'

"Relax November, I'm not some freak alright, your kids will be fine no one really knows about this it'll be fine." November grabbed his satisfactory answer and returned a satisfactory grunt stomping out. "What a cranky guy."

Isa headed out, it seemed like cells are metamorphosing as the echoes amplified. 'Better get my ass out of here.' The department that took care of the Second Breath Program was located on the floor #152, so Isa took the lift up alone. He set himself in front of the mirror and got to work.

First I need to give my tie a makeover, make a cross and retie it, done. Sweep my hand to my hair and use a little bit of saliva to keep my sides from deafening me. I pulled back and relaxed my arms to allow my armpits to breathe. Damn that feels good! Then I'll place my leg in pivot position and stretch my hamstrings and-

"The fuck you doing?" The sun seemed to bow down to him by emanating his body as he entered the elevator.

Isa went and dab Viktor. The air inside was woven together and forced out like a vacuum shuddering the elevator. "What's good Viktor how you've been?"

Viktor's left thumb pressed hard and massaged his index fingers. He welcomes air into his lungs letting out more than he took in. His eyes blinked trying to keep his eyes from drooping into darkness. "Well the week has not been kind to me, it's difficult, I meet with one problem and the next shows up over and over again. It's so tiring, the worst thing is the anxiety I get, I can't even rest properly!" Viktor's lungs lay flat. "Every night I lie in bed thinking if there's a tomorrow where I can rest, a tomorrow where there isn't any worry. Everyone has holidays to rely on, but what do I have?!"

'It's sad really, you can't really do shit when people tell you something. "I understand you." "I get what you mean." "You're not the only one that went through this." All these in the end are just words. Experience cannot be shared or relived. No one really understands you, only you understand you. Sharing experience as words is basically doing it injustice.'

Isa went ahead and showed not tell. He went in and embraced Viktor. 'The best thing you could do in times like this are to show them love.' Viktor's sharp hilt stabbed Isa but he didn't mind it. They stood there in warmth while Isa rubs his hands on his back.

"Next floor, 150." Viktor wakes up from his dream. "Thanks dude, I'll catch you tomorrow." The door opened and his assistant was already waiting for him. They call her Faye.

-After the combat test-

Isa brings Jin over to the medical bay to heal him. The young nurse does a full body scan of Jin by placing him inside a scanner. She looks through her bags of mystery and starts her craft while Isa watches. She spectacularly finishes in 15 minutes. "You can go now! Have a nice day!" Her voice cracks at the end.

They exit and head towards the lift. Isa pulls towards Jin, "Head on and wait for a while I'll grab something." He sneaks off to the entrance of the medical bay. His head snoops up like a submarine. The young nurse slips out a vial of blood that was seemingly taken in secret. She places it into the DNA scanner and brings another vial of blood out.

'Here's the perfect timing.' He enters the room.

"Hey! Oop I forgot something, let me quickly look for it…" Isa's head stoops low to avoid her gaze and brushes his hands around the bed Jin was on, the fresh warmth of the burnt still took residence. "Well sorry to bother, bye!"

"Cheeky bastard," Isa felt a sharp chill, literal chills down his spine. A tip of a sword gripped his life. "Looks like this country has at least one intelligent mind."

"Hey! I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Zip it!" The nurse drove the blade slightly into Isa's spine. His entire lower body started to crawl. "You saw the blood sample test, don't act stupid. What gave it away?"

"Well firstly you obvious voicecrack shouted at me that you obviously had balls. Next you absolutely have no expertise in healing injuries though you yourself are an expert at healing yourself, it's just that you rely so much on your oath that you've forgotten how to do basic healing. So I'm guessing you're someone who dabbles in water and maybe even ice."

Blood came out of Isa's mouth, he couldn't taste the salty taste of it because it blocked the airway in his throat. The frozen blood cooled and reduced the shock from the stab. He could feel his throat way more now. He couldn't tell whether he lost sense of his legs or its just the cold soothing him.

"Thanks for the word of advice, but I hate cleaning up messes. That's why I'm giving you a painless death. Sweet dreams!" The young nurse made a cute squeal and did an aegyo, snapping back into character.

Isa raised his best shitalking device, his middle finger and pointed in the direction where the mysterious individual left. 'You won't be making anything improvments because I'll be seeing you tomorrow, asshole.'
