Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

He laid bare on the floor, but he couldn't feel the floor. Ash tinged his face. Jin could feel the heat evaporate from his face. He could comically see smoke coming out of his mouth. The corpses of his hair waved down into Jin's face like the legs of a spider. He could feel his head sandwiched between two irons.

A sharp feeling pierced the air around his abdomen. He could feel two pairs of pressure on his body. His muscles tensed up. 'Bloodlust!' Sure enough, a sneaky thrust to the side from Viktor was in motion.

"You're crazy." Viktor heaved, his guard now high in the clouds. He killed all pending kindness. "I'll properly dispose of you."

Right slash, left slash, and into a left hook. Viktor's hands flew like arrows. Jin wanted to parry and block to counter but he could sense the force of the swings; he might lose his wrists.

'I have to apply some attacking pressure; At this rate I'll be dominated!'

A sudden surge of clarity hit Gin, 'When did I ever care so much about winning? With each swing, each dodge, and each succession; I could feel some sense of self returning. Just a little more! Bring myself back to me!'

Feeling the heat of battle, Jin decides throws everything aside. He studies everything about Viktor. From the way he attacks, his facial emotions, to every little thing he commits, Gin gathered it all and wrote the end of the fight. 'I'll end you off in the most embarrassing way possible.' His smirk tainted his face.

Viktor's barrage of attacks was invasive. 'I'm over here boy." Viktor launched consecutive fireballs, big and small, decimating any advancement made by Jin.

"What happened to your attacks? Where's the intent to kill?" Viktor mocked Jin as he rapidly closed in for a hook. He knocked Jin hard into the corner of the room. Jin locked in his jaw and prepared to lose his face. However the reaper stopped his fist as it came point blank to Jin's face. 'This bastard realy had the audacity to feint into a point blank fireball shot.'

'I'm freaking fantastic."

Dust overwhelmed the room. The flames continuously burnt where Jin once stood. And then like a liver punch, post nut clarity hit him. "Shit, I got too immersed," he scratched the back of his head and bit his lips. 'Did I kill him? What will the higher ups think?' He paced slowly towards the burnt smokey corpse, letting loose a deep hard sigh. The smoke continued to rise as the fire burned the corpse. Victor swelled up with anger in his heart. He blamed Faye.

"You asshole, why didn't you stop me?" But Faye remained still, somehow calm. She seemed to have caught on something. 'Wait, did I miss something?' He looked at the remains on the floor, there wasn't any corpse. The dust just now it wasn't ashes; it had origins of cloth. Reality gave him the second follow up hook into his face. Sweat trickled down his face as frostbite chased down his spine. His back felt naked.

"Shit."

Viktor quickly twisted back and saw a starved spider in the corner of the room. It was a vile sight, night and day. Jin bit his long sword by the blade tightly. His teeth jagged, clenched it hard with saliva dripping like saltwater crystals in a cave. He twisted his head, swinging the sword with the momentum straight at the heart of Viktor. Viktor, surprised, was barely able to parry the attack. But Jin wasn't done, he leaped off his nest.

Jin saw the distraught look on Viktor, his left arm and posture all messed up. There is barely any path for his sword to swing with his slobbish posture that he's in, and he knew that, 'I win, asshole.' He charged at Viktor

"I'm just kidding."

Viktor launched forward like a spring, his body now fully straightened. His arm flew like a baseball straight into Jin's face, slamming him straight down to the floor. Jin heaved heavily, the stress from the sword now pointing at his neck and getting pinned and locked into the ground. Jin's adrenaline is now fully maxed out, his eyes could now only focus on one single thing-winning. His heart beat fast, he could feel himself shaking like having a panic attack.

'I have to do something, there's still possible ways out. Maybe my arm? My leg can go.'

"That's enough you two," Faye, like rain, fully stopped the hunting season. She stood above both of the animals, her sword directly aimed in between their throats. "The head of the Hunt, going overboard with a newly recruited mercenary. This attitude is intolerable! Did you consider the consequences? He's just a kid!"

The sound of metal crashed into the room as both men released their swords from their custody. Jin felt like he was between planes of reality. All the oxygen debt crept up behind him and tore him apart. Gravity got heavier as his lungs pumped long and hard. The fatigue built up immobilised him and his body powered off. He was now an empty shell laying down. While in this husk state, Faye's words echoed in the void of Jin's mind.

Who really am I? Combat draws out the innermost desire of humanity. So why was I so into it? When I was backed into the corner and forced to improvise, why was I so proud of my abilities to deceive and hide? This pride of turning the tables, I don't want it. This brand new start I was given; I must cherish it. No matter what crimes i have hidden, I will grow and change anew. I will have what is mine!

Viktor got up immediately and brushed his shirt and pants, he stretched and relaxed his body. He started looking for any injury or scratches and started to clean up. He looked at the kid.

Damn, I really went overboard with that one. What was I thinking when? "Real sorry about that, I didn't mean what I said or what I did, But it was a really amazing duel," Faye death stared Viktor. He immediately held out his hand in apology. "I just got really fired up and too immersed in this fight."

"So sorry about that Jin,"

Jin heaved huffed at Viktor, trying to form a sentence, but he walked away immediately through a different hallway. Just as he left the windows surrounding the room dropped down and light came in from the sun, anointing JIn. The world was finally shown to Jin just as he immediately collapsed from exhastion.

Clap clap clap. The sound echoed through the room. "That was quite the spectacle Mr Ibuki." A friendly man appeared before Gin. "Nice to meet you, my name is Isa. I look forward to our work together."

"Oh he's unconscious."
