Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

"Please Be My Girlfriend!"

The surroundings were silent. Only the sound of the wind could be heard. He looked at me, waiting—because I still hadn't spoken.

"I'm sorry." He froze when she heard what I said.

"H-huh?"

"I don't like you," I said seriously.

"Why can't you love me?! What do you want me to do?! Why?! Tell me what's missing?!" He shouted, gripping my shoulders tightly.

"Let me go, or I'll report you to the police." He immediately stepped back, and I could see the pain in his eyes. He ran away, and I could only sigh. I looked behind me when I heard someone clapping.

"Woah! Another one you just rejected!" she teased. I rolled my eyes at her. "How many more are you planning to reject, girl? Don't you have any plans to get a boyfriend or husband?" she asked.

I started walking, and she followed me. "You already know the answer to that, Jullian," I said.

"Gosh, girl! You're already twenty-eight! Do you plan to grow old single?!" I didn't respond. "Don't tell me you still haven't gotten over your ex?"

I stopped walking and gave her a serious look. She immediately closed her mouth and gave me a peace sign.

"It's better to have no boyfriend or husband than to get hurt again because someone cheated and left you." Her mouth formed an "O." I continued walking, and I heard her sigh loudly. She caught up to me, grabbed my hand, and slipped a book into it. "What am I supposed to do with this?" I asked.

"Read it—maybe you'll change your mind," she said dramatically. I just shook my head at her antics. ⸻

...

"Tsk, toxic." I threw the book aside and lay down on my bed. I closed my eyes—and every time I sleep, I did, I remembered the day he left me. ⸻

"You jerk! You snake! How could you?! You were my best friend!" I screamed.

That cheating bastard pushed me, causing me to fall to the floor.

"Stop it, Luna! Don't make a scene here! Don't you have any shame?!" he shouted. I stood up and slapped him hard. My so-called best friend immediately hugged him.

"Me? I should be ashamed? You! Don't you feel any shame?! What happened to your promise—that you'd marry me once you'd saved enough money? What happened to your promise never to leave me?!" I shouted.

He looked away. I saw sadness in his eyes—and a secret smile on hers.

"I'm sorry, Luna. I fell for her. There's nothing I can do about it."

Before I knew it, tears were already falling. All I could do was walk away. Even if I poured out all my anger, nothing would change. ⸻

'If I could live again—if I were given another life—I would never fall in love again.' ⸻

When I opened my eyes, I was in a dark place. What am I doing here? Where am I?

"Luna." I froze.

"Who's there?" I stood up, frowning as I looked around.

"It doesn't matter who I am. Do you want to get out of here?" I rolled my eyes.

"Do you even have to ask?" I said flatly. I heard him chuckle, which somehow irritated me.

"If you really want to get out of here, I'll give you a mission first." I raised an eyebrow.

"What mission?" Even though I couldn't see him, I could tell he was smiling mischievously. I had a bad feeling about this. "It's simple—you just have to stay alive till the end." My brows furrowed at his words. Why? Am I going to die? Is someone going to try to kill me? I was about to speak, but I suddenly lost consciousness. "If you fail to reach the ending, you'll be trapped here with me… Luna." ⸻

I opened my eyes—and found myself standing in front of a school. Above the gate was a sign that read: 'Meadows University' That's strange. It's the same name as the school in the novel I read it in the real world. I stopped walking when I heard girls screaming excitedly.

"Oh my god, it's Saichi!"

"I can't believe he chose to study here!"

"I can die happy now!"

"If this is a dream, I never want to wake up!"

"Is this real?!" Saichi? That's the same name as the male lead in the novel.

"Umm, miss?" I asked a girl nearby. "Who are they all fangirling over?"

"You don't know him?" she asked, pointing at the guy. Of course I don't—that's why I'm asking! What, do I look like an idiot? I shook my head in disbelief. "Oh my gosh! There's actually someone who doesn't know the Saichi Felix!" she gasped dramatically, even kneeling and looking up at the sky as if worshipping someone. Then she stood up and cleared her throat. Weirdo. "Well, let me introduce the Prince of Star!"

"The Prince of Star?" I repeated, frowning.

"Saichi Lev Velarde Felix—the most famous singer and actor in the whole country!" she said with sparkling eyes. Wait… everything she's saying matches exactly with the novel I read. I froze. "And so many girls are chasing after him! Who wouldn't? He's handsome and kind!" she gushed dreamily. "My prince~"

No way. Don't tell me—he really put me inside the novel I read?! Of all the places to send me—why here?! Damn it! The novel I read had eight yanderes—eight obsessive men! They were brutal. I remember reading how they killed people— Oh god, what was that man thinking?!

"Hey, are you okay?" someone asked.

"Ah, I'm fine. I have to go," I said quickly before she could say another word.

As I walked away, I accidentally met Saichi's eyes. Time seemed to slow as our gazes locked. I quickly looked away and kept walking.
