"Won what exactly?" I took a careful step forward. "This isn't a game, Cole. This is you signing your own death warrant."
"This is me taking back what's mine!" His composure cracked, fury bleeding through. "She was supposed to be with me. The prophecy, the bond, all of it—she was mine first. Before you Blackwood bastards stole her."
"Ah yes, the 'I saw her first' defense," I said pleasantly. "Very compelling. I'm sure that'll hold up when we're explaining your corpse to Alpha Kael."
Cole's jaw tightened. "I'll give you to the count of three to leave. Walk away now, and maybe I'll let her live. Maybe I'll just keep her. Make her remember why she loved me before fate fucked everything up."
"One problem with that plan," I said. "I don't negotiate with kidnappers. Call it a personality flaw."
