Chapter 69: 69. The Demonesses Who Stopped Competing
Hours later, the sun set, and dusk descended.
The Student Council was located in the first ring of the Witch Academy, which was a medium-sized floating island. Its area was not as vast as the academy's outer floating islands, but it was more exquisite.
The architectural style on the island was also quite unique; it was a continuous stretch of temples, giving one the feeling of having arrived at the Court of Gods at first glance. The largest and most magnificent among them was the main hall at the center of the floating island, which served as the Student Council President's office.
Sophia was currently buried under a mountain of documents, mechanically and quickly processing each one. The mountain of pending work in front of her visibly shrank, while the several large mountains of completed work beside her grew taller and taller. Even with several assistants moving and "shifting mountains," they were exhausted and still struggled to keep up with the Student Council President's efficiency.
Well, although as Demonesses, they could actually use magic to speed up the transportation efficiency, every single one of these documents was related to the future operation of the academy. These still-immature Student Council assistants simply couldn't imagine the consequences if they accidentally damaged a document. So, compared to using magic for transportation, they preferred to work harder and move them in the most primitive way.
On the other hand, after Sophia finished her work for the day, she stood up. She looked at the assistants moving documents in and out of the office, a hint of disappointment flashing in her eyes.
Alas, this batch of new Student Council members is still not mature enough. How can they accomplish anything if they are so timid in their actions? They have more efficient methods but abandon them out of fear of making mistakes and taking responsibility for the consequences, which is truly foolish.
To put it nicely, they are cautious and have stable personalities, but to put it bluntly, they lack ability and a sense of responsibility.
The Angel Witch couldn't help but shake her head, but she didn't say much.
After all, they are just new students, and there's no need to be too harsh. She shouldn't impose her own demands on others. She only hoped that after a period of tempering, these new students would also grow.
After all, if they never grow, they won't be able to survive in this Student Council.
Sophia packed her things, preparing to leave on time. She estimated that these Little Ati would probably be working overtime until midnight again tonight.
Although it doesn't matter if Demonesses don't sleep, the emotional burden brought by such overtime can be very uncomfortable. Often, Little Witches can't stand this endless overtime and voluntarily withdraw from the Student Council.
But this is the Student Council, an organization where efficiency and ability reign supreme. The strong rise, and the weak are eliminated—that is the eternal law here.
Well then, good luck to you, junior sisters.
Silently sending blessings to these junior sisters who had just joined the Student Council, Sophia opened the door and left the office, preparing to return to her dormitory.
Actually, according to her previous personality, even after work, she would voluntarily work overtime for a while, preparing for tomorrow's work process in advance, or patrolling around, helping to guide confused new members, and incidentally, winning over people's hearts to enhance her prestige as the President.
But now there's no way. There's a young lady waiting at home. Sophiadidn't dare to be careless about the task her teacher gave her to look after the young lady.
She now leaves work on time every day and returns to her dormitory immediately, not daring to linger outside for fear that the young lady might give her another "surprise."
"Hello, President, you've worked hard, President."
As soon as she left the office, she encountered a Little Witch on her way out. The Little Witch, upon seeing her, greeted her with an expression of admiration.
In response, the Angel Witch also showed a perfectly professional smile.
"You've worked hard too, Isabella. Get some rest early. See you tomorrow."
Sophia had some impression of this young blue-haired Little Witch. She seemed to be a talented Demoness from a relatively remote area. When she first joined the Student Council, she was mocked and secretly ostracized by some Demonesses from prominent families. However, this Little Ati was very capable, worked very hard, and had good comprehension. Now, she had gained recognition from the Student Council through her own abilities.
Although she was only 14 years old, she was already considered an old member of the Student Council. Sophia remembered that she seemed to be from the Publicity Department. The head of this department, a subordinate of the Student Council, seemed to be graduating soon, and it seemed very likely that this Little Ati would take over.
Sophia had always admired such talented and ambitious juniors. She wouldn't mind giving this Little Ati a slight promotion when the time came.
Isn't it a good deal to gain the friendship of a future promising Demoness with just a small gesture?
However, in contrast, thinking of the lazy young lady lying around at home, the Angel Witch's eye twitched slightly.
"Hello, President."
"You've worked hard, President."
"See you tomorrow, President."
The Angel Witch continued forward, and all the Demonesses who saw her along the way actively greeted her, each with expressions of admiration and longing, which showed how high her prestige was.
In response, Sophia also smiled and replied to each one. She was quite pleased with the prestige she had cultivated over the years.
But this was not enough, far from enough. Her future goal was to become a brilliant and glorious Apex Witch like her teacher. However, she was still too far from her teacher's realm, whether in strength, influence, or connections; she still needed to work hard.
Leaving the Student Council, Sophia rubbed her face, whose smiling muscles had become stiff. Her expression returned to normal. She silently pulled out her broom at the floating island dock, preparing to take off.
However, just as she sat on her broom and saw the familiar figure beside her also preparing to take off, the Angel Witch was slightly stunned.
"So early today too, Madeline?"
Sophia proactively greeted her right-hand woman.
"Yes, President, you're quite early too."
Miss Succubus was also stunned when she heard the voice. Upon turning her head and seeing the Angel Witch beside her, her sharp eyes softened slightly.
As the supreme governing body of the entire Witch Academy, the Student Council had many subordinate departments. However, if one were to speak of the most powerful and strongest among them, it would definitely be the Discipline Committee, which managed the academy's rules, oversaw academy discipline, and commanded the academy's security department.
Although the Discipline Committee was nominally subordinate to the Student Council and under the Student Council President's jurisdiction, whether the Student Council President, as the head of the civil officials, could truly suppress the Disciplinary Committee Chairman, who commanded the campus armed forces and was the head of the military officials, depended on their respective abilities.
In the past, although Sophia could slightly suppress Madeline, the gap between them was actually not large. If she slackened even a little, she might capsize, so the two had engaged in many open and secret struggles in the past, escalating fiercely.
The Angel Witch's past habit of working overtime was forced upon her by the Succubus Witch. After all, if the subordinates hadn't left work yet, and the leader left first, it would make her seem somewhat lazy.
But this semester...
The two, who had been leaving work on time for several days, had met several times at this dock. Both were quite puzzled as to why the other suddenly stopped competing.
"Never mind, the young lady's matter is more important."
Sophia suppressed her doubts and took off directly.
"Never mind, my sister's matter is more important."
Madeline also suppressed the confusion in her heart and flew towards the Shining Tower.
Five minutes later, two panicked exclamations came from the top two floors of the Shining Tower.
"Where is my young lady?"
"Where is my sister?"
And so, two streaks of light shot out, flying from the top of the tower simultaneously.
The Angel Witch and the Succubus Witch met again in the air. This time, their eyes met, and the same urgency was in their eyes.
Demonesses searching for someone...
Done with one, time for a break. I'll see if I can do another one later. I ordered a laptop last night, and being deep in debt fills me with power.
