Chapter 85 - His Bright Eyes

"Excuse me, but this is important," Chris said, disturbing the demon mid-sentence with an open palm to the demon's face. He held her hands and stared into her eyes. "Pink, I'm really sorry for all those mean things I said to you. Thank you for seeing something in me that even I didn't know."

Cecilia looked at their hands joined together, then, to Chris's eyes, "I don't think this is the appropriate time for this."

"Listen to my meal, bound one…otherwise you will be my appetizer," The demon warned Chris.

Chris lets out an exasperated sigh. "Would you please wait for your turn? I'm having a serious conversation here."

The demon, fed up and impatient, slammed his fists at Chris and Cecilia. It was only when the dust settled that the demon realized there was no one there. "Where are you, you little human?"

"I told you I was having a conversation!" Chris charged at the demon, landing a vicious punch on the demon's midsection. The impact created a deafening thud, and the shockwave of the attack sent it hurtling back.

When the demon came to a halt, it was brought down to its knees, but almost immediately, it got back up. The demon winced in pain. "You will pay for that!" he charges at Chris, but deftly avoids the demon with his speed.

"Look!" Bustamante pointed to Murillo.

"The captain! he has his abilities back!" Murillo smiled in relief, watching as Chris was toying with the demon.

Chris dodged a punch from the demon, using his speed. He climbed on top of it and, with a two-handed blow to the back of the head, he sent the demon face-first onto the ground. The demon stood up, shaking its head, before it could recover. Chris ran to it and, with a powerful kick, sent the demon spinning in mid-air, crashing to the ground with a thunderous thud.

Cecilia watched in awe as Chris made short work of the demon. "Wow, he's amazing," she thought to herself, not noticing one of the white ladies zeroing in on her. The ghost grabbed Cecilia, making her scream.

"Cecilia!" Chris was about to run to save her, but this distraction was all the demon needed. He grabbed Chris, lifted him high, and slammed him to the ground

Chris writhes from the impact. It lifts Chris again and throws him at Murillo and Bustamante. "Your souls will be mine to enslave." It then turned its attention to Cecilia. "And you, my pretty little one, once I eat flesh that I peeled from your bones, you will be one of my heralds so that I can expand my territory."

The demon lunged toward Cecilia, but before it could take a single step, an invisible force hoisted it into the air. "You will not lay a finger on her, DEMON!" Chris thundered, his palms outstretched as if commanding the very air itself. The demon struggled, suspended helplessly as Chris slowly pulled his hands apart, mimicking the motion of ripping something in two. "I will tear you to pieces."

The monstrous entity roared from pain; it could hear and feel its muscles being torn and its bones snapping. Chris was about to destroy the demon when, from behind him, the white ladies attacked. The ghosts wrapped their arms around the captain, breaking his concentration.

The demon fell to the ground free of the captain's powers. It immediately got up and grabbed both Chris and one of the ghosts in the process. "Whispers say that you are immortal, yet you still can feel pain. I will savor tormenting you for all eternity," the demon grabs Chris's arm, twisting it at unnatural angles. It smiled when it heard the captain shout in agonizing pain.

Cecilia, Bustamante, and Murillo attacked the demon at the same time. Cecilia pulls on the demon's arm that was keeping Chris immobilized. Murillo and Bustamante tackle the demon, desperately trying to bring it to its knees.

Irritated by the three, it swung its arm. Cecilia got the brunt of the force and was thrown off her feet. She landed violently on the ground with a sickening thud, and the impact knocked her out. A white lady crawled towards the human, and she let out a low growl as she observed her.

The demon buried his clawed thumbs on the captain's chest. The pain was unbearable, causing Chris to bellow out in agony, "GYAAAAAAAH!!" His fists were clenched, and his teeth gritted.

"Let the captain go!" Murillo shouted as she continued to tackle the demon's leg. Bustamante punches and kicks the demon's torso, hoping it will be enough to force it to release Chris. But the demon was unfazed by their attempts; if not, it only served to irritate the demon. It kicked Murillo away and smashed Bustamante with its fist, neutralizing the two.
