Chris and Cecilia brought the ghost of a young man to a hospital to meet someone for the first time. They lead Randy the ghost through the busy hallways of the hospital. Randy's steps were already light, despite being a ghost. When he turned to enter the room, his eyes widened in awe and wonder. Right in front of him was his wife, Vina, and their newborn son.
Tears fell freely from his eyes as he watched his wife happily cradling their cooing son. Randy turned to the pair, "I thought my wife died, but here she is safe, and she gave birth to our child. Thank you for taking me here; had it not been for the two of you…I would have wasted my time haunting the truck driver. Thank you so much," he expressed his gratitude to the pair.
"Had your wife and unborn son died in the same accident that you did…they would have appeared on the Twilight with you," Chris explained,
"But when you arrived at the ship, you were alone. It's a good thing we were able to catch up with you when you ran away to haunt that man. If not, you would've committed a serious mistake." Cecilia added to the captain's words.
Randy slowly walked towards his wife and child. He reached for them, but to his dismay, his hands passed through them. He started to tear up until he could no longer hold it in, and he cried from the sadness of not being able to hold his family. "Just one chance…just one chance to let my wife know that I have seen our child"
As if his wife heard his cries, she too started to tear up. "Randy…if you could only see our child, if you could only see how much he resembles you, you would be jumping for joy." She kissed her child tenderly on the forehead and continued to sob.
Cecilia's heart broke for the family, seeing how they were so close but unable to touch each other. The baby cooed as his and Randy's eyes met, and the child giggled upon glancing at his father. This just made Randy and his wife cry even more.
Cecilia tugged at Chris's sleeve. "Captain, can't we do anything for them? It's just so heartbreaking to watch them like this…maybe, you can, even for a little while?"
Chris glanced at Cecilia, and he sighed a bit before lifting his hand and blowing on his open palm. Sparkly mist flew from the captain's hand towards Randy's wife. The sparkly mist circled her several times before settling in her eyes. Vina scratched her eyes for a bit, and when she opened them, she saw Randy sobbing at the side of their bed.
"Randy?" Vina called out; her voice caught his attention, and he lifted his head. "Is that you, my dear husband?"
"Vina? You could see me?" His wife nodded, a bittersweet smile appearing on her lips. He embraced his wife tightly, like he had never hugged her before. "I'm so sorry…I'm sorry that I have to leave you and our son."
"What will I do now?" Vina asked while she cried heavily. "How am I going to raise our son? I need you by my side," she told her husband.
Randy gently broke away from their embrace and held Vina by her shoulders. "I have saved a sum of money, large enough that you won't need to worry about the first few years." He then bowed his head in shame and sadness, "Forgive me, I wish there were more that I could provide for you and our child."
Vina smiled sweetly at her husband, "Be it ten years or ten days, what you gave is more than enough. I will make sure that what you left for us will be used for our son's benefit."
Chris gently placed a hand over Randy's shoulders. "Finish your goodbyes, the effects will soon wear off, and she will no longer see us again," he said with a melancholic voice.
Randy, upon hearing what the captain said, embraced his family tightly. "I need to go, my dear. Please take care of our child and yourself. Tell him about me, don't let him forget me," he pleaded to his wife. He then gently kissed his son on the forehead. "What shall we call him?"
"Randy Junior," Vina quickly replied, her and her husband's gazes met, and a warm smile emerged on their lips
"Grow up to be a responsible man, keep yourself and your mother safe. You are the man of the house now. I am so sorry for leaving such a responsibility and burden on your young shoulders, but I know you will manage to overcome anything. I know this…because I know you are strong," he said to his infant son
Randy lifted his head to meet Vina's gaze, and their lips met to share one last kiss. As their lips parted, Vina watched in despair as her husband's visage slowly faded away into nothingness. She reached out to him, but her hands just went through him, and he vanished right before her eyes. "Randy?" she called out in her room, but only the other patients responded with bewildered looks. "Randy? Come back, Randy…please come back."
When her husband no longer answered, she glanced at her child with tear-filled eyes. "Randy, is your name. It is your father's name, let me tell you about him…" Her voice trembled as she started to speak highly of her husband.
As the three of them walked through the hospital lobby, Randy could not help but cry as he thought about his family. "I don't know how they will fare once the savings have been depleted." Expressing his worries, "What will become of my family?"
"If you serve as crewman aboard the Twilight… your salary will be good luck and good fortune for those that you have left behind," Chris begins to explain. "She will continue to receive such good fortunes as long as she works honestly and diligently."
Randy's face brightened upon hearing of a way to provide for his family from beyond the grave. "Vina is the most diligent, honest, and industrious person I have ever met…" He happily informed Chris, "I will serve on the Twilight!" he announced with conviction.
Cecilia clapped her hands. "You are a good father, even in death, you desired only to provide for those that you love." Her glee, however, was cut short when she noticed someone looking in her direction, so she asked the captain, "The people here can't see you two, right? What about me?"
Chris snorted at the question. "Well, they can see you, of course," he answered derisively
"WHAT?!" Cecilia reacted at the top of her voice. "You let me prattle on like a crazy person?" She then covered her face with her hands and whispered, "Don't you know how embarrassing that is?"
Chris then let out a hearty laugh, "Just kidding!" he revealed to her, "I made sure that they can't see you as well." Cecilia then playfully hits Chris on the shoulders as he continued to laugh at what he thought was a hilarious joke.
"Are the two of you a couple?" Randy innocently asked, wanting to know the real score between the two
