Julia exhaled slowly, turning to look at me with the weight of someone already drowning in regret over what she was about to do.

"Come with me," she whispered, her tone barely audible but resolute. "You'll need to slip in quietly."

She didn't pause for my response, simply began walking as though rushing to finish something unpleasant. I trailed behind her, my fists buried in my jacket pockets, my ribcage still constricted from how distant she'd been acting all day. Everything about her movements screamed formality, like we were complete strangers, like she was deliberately constructing barriers between us. It made my blood boil.

At the dormitory entrance, two staff members intercepted us, their expressions broadcasting clear suspicion as they sized me up with that unmistakable "you don't belong here" scrutiny.

The taller one fixed her stare on Julia and demanded, "Who is he?"

"My brother. He wants to see where I'm living."
