Meryl's POV
I forced myself not to dwell on what those men had said earlier. The last thing I wanted was for Andre to see their words still haunting me. When he spoke, his voice gentle and concerned, I knew I had to push through.
"Do you want to head home, or should we drive around for a while?"
I shook my head quickly, plastering on what I hoped looked like a genuine smile. "Let's go out somewhere. Maybe grab dinner? I'm not ready to go home just yet."
He nodded with understanding, his fingers intertwining with mine. "Food sounds perfect."
To my surprise, he drove us to one of the city's most exclusive restaurants. I didn't realize our destination until we pulled into a private driveway where a valet stood waiting. The establishment screamed luxury from every corner.
