Laurence weakly sighed, thinking how unfair the world was. It couldn't be more than a year ago he collapsed.
He had just gotten the news he got the grades to go to the most prestigious university in the country, the look on his parents, girlfriend, and best friends was in his eyes even now. Then he coughed, followed by a wheeze, followed by a collapse.
The doctors had no idea what was happening. Sure, he had been stressed in exam period, but nothing beyond a mild tension. Yet here he was, in his final moments, regretting his last moments. His loving parents, his girlfriend he had always intended to be with forever, his friends who played with him everyday. They surrounded him in his bed, all holding a part of him, their love and fear equally palpable.
And with that final scene, he felt cold. He felt cold, and angry, and scared, and oh so wronged. Why was it him? If there was a god, he cursed them silently.

He couldn't believe it! He had an opportunity to see his parents again healthy, to start anew! He excited pressed yes, baited breath and cautious optimism filling the darkness around him.
And then a hall was revealed.
