Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Death Game, Left 4 Dead!

April.

Tokyo.

Toyogasaki Academy.

Aiden stood at the school gate, watching the cherry trees sway in the wind, feelings churning.

"Looks like I'll be spending all three years of high school here."

Truth was—

Aiden didn't belong to this world.

He was a transmigrator.

One month ago,

he woke up to find himself in a mixed "daily-life" crossover world and even got accepted by Toyogasaki Academy.

He was still himself,

only his body had reverted to a teenage state,

and the world had changed.

In his middle school graduation photo, one of his classmates was a petite blonde twin-tail.

His next-door neighbor was Kazusa—

long black hair, model-tier figure, aloof and rebellious, a stunning beauty.

Not to mention the club he used to join; a few familiar juniors there… were exactly the people he'd once known only from anime.

You had to admit—

life's twists were pretty wild.

Luckily, Aiden was the easy-going type.

After a month of adjustment, he'd gradually blended into this world.

He gathered his wandering thoughts.

Soon,

after parking his bicycle, he headed to his class: 1-A.

Maybe because it was the beginning of term, the classroom was noisy.

Boys and girls in uniforms chirped away like their energy would never run out.

Aiden casually took a window-side seat and scanned the room.

As expected—

tons of familiar faces.

In the front row, a tall black-haired beauty absentmindedly flipped a book; her elegant aura and black tights wrapped around shapely long legs were… dangerously mesmerizing.

At his front desk sat a girl with an icy temperament:

upright posture, delicate features, porcelain skin, just-right pink lips, long black hair over the shoulders, and a flawless face.

Every gesture carried the poise of an honor student—almost aristocratic—making her stand out from everyone else.

"Tch. Front row, long-legged tights queen—Utaha. And right in front of me, the household's second daughter—Yukino… What kind of opening is this, seriously…" Aiden blinked.

Youthful slice-of-life vibes, achieved.

But in the very next second—

a cold, mechanical voice rang in his ears.

[Death Game initializing. Ten-minute countdown—prepare…]

[10…9…8…3…2…1!]

"?!"

Cold. Hard.

Aiden jolted upright. When he opened his eyes again,

he was in a strange classroom.

A classroom was still a classroom—

but no longer 1-A.

This one was a mess.

The walls were scrawled over with chaotic English graffiti.

The windows were nailed over with boards and reinforced with wire mesh, sealed tight.

The podium and desks were piled against the door,

as if someone had barricaded it on purpose to keep out something unknown.

On the blackboard at the podium sat a huge LCD screen.

While Aiden quickly took in the scene—

a faint sound came from behind.

He turned. Utaha was on the floor too, staring at him in a daze.

Her eyes were full of shock.

"What on earth is going on?"

Before he could think deeper, Utaha's expression suddenly shifted to disgust.

She swiftly pressed down her pleated skirt,

her alluring black-tights legs curling up to guard the forbidden view.

"Pervert."

"…?"

"Hey, who was looking at you?"

Aiden froze, then turned away, annoyed.

His impression of Utaha took an immediate dive.

But right now, there was no time to explain.

He looked around.

More and more people were being transported into this sealed, strange classroom.

Plenty of familiar faces, too…

Classmates like Hayato, Kakeru, Yukino…

And many unfamiliar ones wearing different uniforms—hard to tell which schools they came from.

But one thing was the same: everyone looked like high-schoolers.

Before long,

twenty-two people packed the room.

After the initial shock, people started looking for a way out, and the noise swelled.

"Damn it, what the hell is this?"

A brown-haired boy glanced around and barked impatiently, "Do you know who I am? I'm the son of the Yamato Group's chairman!"

"Prank show or some stupid variety bit—you've pissed me off. Let me out!"

"My phone's got no signal!"

"Crap, mine too… I can't call the police!!"

"Damn it! Who's playing ghost here? Get out here!"

"Is this a kidnapping?"

"U-uh… Mom, Dad, I'm scared…"

Thrown into an unfamiliar place,

their hearts were full of confusion and anger.

A timid girl, helpless and lost, even started to cry.

"What are you crying for? Just move the desks out of the way!"

Taisuke, a long-faced guy, thought he'd found the solution. He went to the window to pry open the boards—

only to discover that even using all his strength,

he couldn't lift them even a millimeter.

"What the hell?"

Taisuke's face turned beet-red.

Embarrassed, he yanked hard on a nearby single chair.

Thud!

He pulled so hard he fell on his face.

Those ordinary-looking chairs piled at the door were like they'd been welded together—impossible to shift.

A short boy rushed over to help him up. "Taisuke, you okay?"

"I'm fine, Makoto."

Taisuke shook his head, cheeks burning. Gritting his teeth, he muttered, "Damn it, these desks and chairs are wrong—like they're glued together!"

"Made me eat it big time…"

Clack.

Just then,

the big LCD on the podium popped on with a crisp sound, drawing every eye.

As the screen lit up, lines of text appeared.

The room fell silent.

Everyone stared at the words.

[Think "Status Screen" in your mind to view your profile and mission details…]

"Status."

Aiden drew a deep breath.

This was not the time to despair.

He had to gather intel fast.

In the next instant,

a translucent panel popped up before his eyes.

[Player Name]: Aiden

[Title]: None

[Constitution]: 1.2

[Strength]: 1.1

[Agility]: 1.1

[Perception]: 1.0

[Spirit]: 1.3

[Average normal human stat = 1]

[Skills]: None

[Equipment]: None

[Attribute Points]: None

...

"..."

After reading, Aiden raised an eyebrow.

Maybe because he was a transmigrator, his Spirit stat was decent.

Everything else was pretty average.

"That aside… shouldn't my cheat be arriving about now?"

His gaze slid to his right palm.

There, a vortex-like black rune was slowly forming in his hand.

He'd already confirmed—

no one but him could see this rune.

After a long moment,

the rune finally finished loading.

Inky black smoke drifted and coiled in midair,

then gathered on the back of his hand.

[Basic Marksmanship: (0/10)]

"!?"

Clarity surged through Aiden's mind.

The rune's function was simple and direct:

raise proficiency through effort to level up skills.

As for why it was "gunplay"—that tied back to things from his previous life.

[Now distributing newbie weapons…]

Once the last person finished reading,

the notice vanished and the screen went dark.

The wall behind the podium rumbled inward with a series of clacks and snaps.

Moments later,

the entire section rotated down like a panel.

To everyone's shock, the wall was lined, top to bottom, with modern firearms and cold weapons.

The metal gleam of the guns was chilling,

a visual gut-punch.

All these kids were from a peaceful society; who had ever seen the real thing?

Eyes went wide. Everyone froze.

While the others gaped, Aiden stepped up and began selecting.

Thanks to prior experience, modern firearms weren't unfamiliar to him.

M4A1, AK-74M, FN FAL, MP5, Thompson M1928, P90, Remington 870, frag grenades, Claymore mines, all kinds of pistols, incendiaries… even an AWM…

After careful thought,

Aiden reached for the AK-105 tactical assault rifle.

It was the shortened variant of the AK-74M, a member of the AK family.

The most famous is obviously the AK-47,

but Aiden had his reasons for choosing the AK-105 as his primary.

Compared with the traditional AK-74, the AK-105's barrel was noticeably longer in this setup.

Some users even call it the last excellent swansong of the AK line.

Tactically, the AK-105 trades some range for portability, accessory rails, and a detachable folding stock.

It handles nimbly and still hits hard,

and in some cases can even stand in for an SMG.

In the real world, units like Alfa and Signal Flag favor this fast, brutal killer.

Next,

Aiden took a light camo stab-proof vest,

a silver-gray Colt Python with an 8-inch barrel,

an M9 with a 15-round detachable magazine,

a Nepalese kukri with a somber metallic sheen,

plus a few Claymores and smoke grenades.

The instant he laid hands on these, the black rune panel changed again.

[Basic Blade Work: (0/10)]

[Firearms Novice: (0/10)]

"Uh…?"

Watching Aiden kit himself out from head to toe in no time,

expressions around the room shifted.

"How did that guy pick so fast?"

"He moves like he's done this… is he a military nerd?"

"Hey, could you pick one for me too?"

"Bro, let's team up!"

After a brief lull, the crowd surged in,

hoping to get the "gun nerd senpai's" advice.

Hayato frowned, pushing through. "Everyone, time is limited—please don't crowd."

"Let's not make things hard for him."

Obviously,

not many cared what he said.

Hayato's social skills were good, but these weren't all Toyogasaki students.

The noisy press made Aiden lose patience.

Bang!

A deafening gunshot cut through the crowd.

The sudden crack made everyone flinch on reflex.
