"My two sisters also died because of me," Slavvy said, tears no longer filling his eyes, but only rage and anger fueled by an urge for revenge. "I started killing them one by one for everything they'd done to me. One day, I came back from the streets and found my two sisters shot dead. Their blood was all over the living room, with a note that said, 'Like father, like son.'" He spoke with a trembling voice, his eyes blazing with fury.
I was speechless, unsure of how to respond. Slavvy looked at me with a weak, sorrowful smile. "What's your story?" he asked.
I took a deep breath, forcing a smile. "My dad left my mom and me when I was still in her womb. He left, promising to come back, but he never did. My mom waited and waited for him, but he never showed up. There were days when we slept without food," I said, my voice cracking.
Slavvy's eyes filled with remorse. "She chose me over her family," I continued. "When she died, I lived a miserable life. My two uncles were physically, emotionally, and mentally abusive towards me. They hated me so much they didn't want anything to do with me. They tried to kill me."
Slavvy's eyes widened in horror. "They buried me alive. If my other uncle hadn't arrived on time, I would have been long dead," I said, tears streaming down my face. "But though he saved me that very night, they both killed my grandma in front of me and my uncle."
I cried, my heart aching. "I'm sorry... I..." Slavvy mumbled, but I cut him off with a gentle kiss.
"It doesn't matter now. I'm at peace," I said with a weak smile. "You know, I tried to end my life many times, but God kept saying no. And when I had an encounter with Him for the first time, I felt at peace and alive. All the darkness and the heavy burden were lifted the day I confessed my sins and gave Him my life. He gave me peace and joy in the midst of hopelessness."
I wiped away my tears, sniffing. "God," Slavvy said, his voice filled with anger. "Where was He? Where is He in my life right now? He took away my family, everything from me. He formed me, so I'd just be miserable. Look at me - I'm a mess."
I took his hand in mine. "I asked myself that question too, but He's been with you from the beginning. He knew you before you were formed in your mother's womb," I said, my voice filled with conviction.
Slavvy's eyes softened. "Pour out your heart to Him, as I did. Go to Him and express your anger at Him. Shout if you want to shout, scream if you want to scream. He is your God and your Father. Just believe in Him," I said.
Slavvy shook his head in disbelief. "Look at me," I said, my voice firm. "I told you my life story. I should be someone who's very bitter and cold-hearted, but I came to my Lord and Savior. He gave me His yoke and took upon my burdens."
I looked into Slavvy's eyes. "I can see the pain in your eyes, the anger and the resentment. But I want you to know that there's hope. There's healing. There's redemption."
"Close your eyes," I said, my voice gentle. "Lord, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I come to Your presence. We bow down before You, great King of kings and Lord of lords. We agree, Lord, that we are nothing without You, Alpha and Omega."
I prayed, my voice filled with emotion. "Lord, we come to You with broken hearts and shattered spirits. Almighty, righteous God, have mercy upon us as Your children. Heal our broken hearts, restore our broken spirits, for in You, Lord, there's joy, love, peace, and long-suffering. Almighty God."
I continued praying, my voice cracking with emotion. "Lord, I bring Slavvy into Your hands. He's a lost sheep in need of a Shepherd, Lord. Lord, his soul is filled with scars and sorrows. He yearns for You, Lord, and Almighty Father. I pray You stand with him, for You created us for a purpose - Your purpose was to give us joy for eternity."
I prayed, my voice filled with conviction. "Hear him, oh Lord, and have mercy upon him. Let no family generational curses fall upon him, but lift him up, Lord, until he overflows. In Jesus' name, amen."
As I finished praying, Slavvy was overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit's presence. He cried bitterly, calling out to God, Yahweh, the Lord Jehovah, the Lord Emmanuel. He poured out his heart, releasing all the pain, anger, and resentment he had held inside for so long. I stood by him, embracing him, as he let go of all the burdens that had weighed him down.
Tears streamed down his face, and his body shook with sobs. But as he cried, I could see the weight lifting off his shoulders. I could see the chains breaking, the ones that had bound him to his past, to his pain, and to his anger.
As he cried, I prayed, asking God to heal his broken heart, to restore his shattered spirit, and to give him peace that surpassed all understanding. I prayed that God would take away his pain and replace it with joy, his sorrow with comfort, and his fear with faith.
And as we stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, I knew that God was working, that He was healing, that He was restoring. I knew that Slavvy would never be the same again, that he would rise from the ashes of his past, like a phoenix, born anew, renewed, and redeemed.
In that moment, I knew that our love was not just a feeling, but a choice, a choice to stand by each other, to support each other, to love each other, no matter what. And I knew that our love would conquer all, that it would overcome every obstacle, every challenge, and every adversity....
There's no sinner God cannot save
