Carina had woken up that morning with the worst headache of her life and a mouth that tasted like something had died in it, but those physical discomforts were nothing compared to the mortification that crashed over her when the memories of last night came flooding back.
At first, it had been mercifully hazy. She remembered the ball, her father's rage, running out, drinking wine in her chambers, but as the morning progressed and her mind cleared, more details emerged from the alcohol-induced fog.
Horrible, humiliating details that made her want to crawl under her bed and never emerge again.
