Kakashi retreated about a hundred meters.
Yoruha walked to the edge of the lake.
If he lost control again, the water of the lake could help absorb part of the explosion's force.
Standing on the surface of the water, Yoruha began to gather chakra throughout his entire body.
Chakra began to form in his hands.
In an instant, a massive amount of chakra condensed in his palms.
That chakra then transformed into lightning.
"Crackle—"
"Zzzzz..."
Countless golden arcs of electricity burst from his hands, wildly twisting and coiling around his fingers and wrists.
Within a radius of more than ten meters around him, lightning surged and danced — countless golden serpents of thunder slithering through the air.
And at the center of all those lightning serpents was Yoruha himself.
Even though it was broad daylight, the golden storm of lightning he released shone so brightly that it was as if a blazing sun had appeared.
A hundred meters away, Kakashi swallowed hard as he watched.
"No matter how many times I see it, this blinding sight is still shocking every time."
"This isn't even Chidori anymore — both the lightning's form and chakra intensity have far surpassed an ordinary Chidori."
"I wonder just how strong it really is..."
Kakashi had already activated his Sharingan.
Yoruha's Chidori was clearly completely different from his own — its power was on a whole other level.
Despite the overwhelming display, the sound it made wasn't as loud as one would expect.
The sharp crackling of lightning only carried for a few dozen meters before fading away.
After all, Chidori was meant to be an assassination jutsu — if it made too much noise, it would lose its greatest advantage.
Yoruha watched as the surrounding arcs of lightning drew back toward his palm.
The thunder serpents that had been dancing around him were all pulled into his hand, merging into a single concentrated mass of golden light.
Gradually, all the lightning gathered completely into the center of his palm.
The golden lightning pulsed violently.
The blinding glow around him faded, revealing Yoruha's form once more — all that energy compressed within his hand.
Kakashi was stunned.
"He actually condensed all the dispersed chakra back into his hand? That level of chakra control... even I can't do that."
"This kid never stops surprising me."
Though the lightning in Yoruha's hand now appeared smaller than before, it was far more condensed — the terrifying energy from earlier had been compressed into one place.
This meant his current Chidori was even stronger than before — certainly not weaker.
Yoruha looked down at the thunder gathering in his palm, then turned to glance at Kakashi in the distance.
Seeing the look, Kakashi frowned slightly.
"What's this kid planning?"
He couldn't quite read Yoruha's expression — but he found out soon enough.
A faint smile tugged at Yoruha's lips. He pressed his foot down with force and leapt skyward.
Like a cannon shot, his body shot into the air, instantly rising several dozen meters above the lake.
The ground where he had stood moments before caved in, cracking into a spiderweb-like pattern that spread for over ten meters.
Suspended high above the lake, Yoruha thrust his glowing hand downward.
"Lightning Release: Chidori!"
With a sharp cry, his body turned into a streak of golden lightning that shot toward the water's surface.
"Crack!"
"Zzzzt—!"
"BOOM!"
In that instant, the ground trembled violently for hundreds of meters around.
The wide lake exploded in a massive eruption.
All the water within the blast zone vaporized into steam, rising into the air.
A flash of golden light tore through the lake — when it faded, a giant crater over a hundred meters wide had appeared at the center.
The water within had been blasted aside entirely.
Only after ten or more seconds did the displaced lake water slowly begin to flow back into the enormous pit at the center.
By then, Yoruha had already landed by the shore, faint golden sparks still flickering around his hand.
Watching the water surge back toward the center, he smiled faintly.
"How was that, Kakashi-sensei? Not bad, right?"
Kakashi had already approached, his gaze alternating between Yoruha's hand — still sparking with golden arcs — and the devastated lake.
His mouth twitched slightly.
"This... is this really the Chidori I taught you?"
He stared at Yoruha in disbelief.
Yoruha chuckled.
"Of course it is. The power seems fine, doesn't it?"
Kakashi gave him a long look, his lips twitching again.
"More than fine. Even my Lightning Cutter couldn't reach that level of power."
"And your attack speed... it's faster than mine. This jutsu's destructive force is easily S-rank."
Yoruha blinked.
"S-rank? Really?"
He honestly wasn't sure — he knew his Chidori was powerful, but S-rank meant Kage-level might.
Kakashi nodded seriously.
"Definitely S-rank. My Raikiri (Lightning Cutter) is also S-rank in destructive power, but yours... yours has even greater impact."
Yoruha thought for a moment, then said,
"Actually, while I was using it just now, I thought — with a few modifications, this jutsu could work as a ranged attack."
Kakashi paused.
"A ranged version?"
Yoruha nodded.
"I have an idea, though I'm not sure if it'll work."
"Let's hear it."
Kakashi didn't dismiss him — he knew Yoruha had a deep understanding of jutsu mechanics.
Yoruha described his ideas — similar to Sasuke's Chidori Sharp Spear and Chidori Senbon.
Kakashi nodded as he listened.
"Not bad. That idea is definitely feasible. But the power will decrease if you spread it out like that."
As expected of Kakashi — after hearing just the concept, he immediately grasped the technique's limitations.
Yoruha smiled.
"Losing a bit of power in exchange for range is worth it."
Kakashi nodded.
"True. For me, such a modification wouldn't add much, but for you, it could be a big advantage."
"Yeah," Yoruha added. "My chakra reserves are higher, and my jutsu naturally carry more force — even if I sacrifice some power, it'll still hit hard."
After discussing it for a while, Yoruha decided to test his modified version.
He didn't actually know how Sasuke had developed his own techniques, but he already had ideas for improving the Chidori in his own way.
He didn't care whether his version would end up being the same.
This time, Kakashi didn't move far away.
From how precisely Yoruha had controlled his power earlier, Kakashi could tell that he had fully mastered the force within him.
Though Yoruha's progress was faster than Kakashi had expected, it wasn't beyond reason — and since the boy could control it now, there was no need to keep his distance.
Standing at the lake's edge, Yoruha raised his right hand.
In an instant, countless arcs of lightning burst into life around his palm.
It was the first time Kakashi had seen this close the full formation of Yoruha's lightning.
The power radiating from that golden electricity was so intense that even a veteran elite jōnin like Kakashi felt a chill in his chest.
Watching Yoruha's focused expression, Kakashi couldn't help but feel deeply gratified.
"Yoruha's growth is astonishing. Honestly, there's not much left that I can still teach him."
After all, Yoruha had already mastered Kakashi's most powerful jutsu.
All Kakashi still possessed beyond that was his Sharingan — and he certainly couldn't just hand that over.
At least in terms of ninjutsu, there was nothing more for him to teach.
But in the experience of a true shinobi — that, Kakashi knew, Yoruha still had much to learn.
