"Yushan," Director Feng called, "it's almost eight, everyone else is here, prepare and let's start so we finish early."
Jun froze under the bed.
The sound of the voice carried clearly through the quiet room, each word sliding into his ears and making him press his body closer to the floor, as flat and still as he could.
Every detail of the space around him was sharpened by his tension: the faint rustle of the sheets, the subtle shift of weight from the mattress, the soft, exhale from Yushan. He could hear him stirring, moving slightly, probably getting off the bed, though Jun could not see a thing.
"Where is Xiao Jun? Is he ready too?" Yushan asked.
The sound of his name made Jun's chest tighten.
