Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14 – crystal

CHAPTER 14

Ethan walked up to Ivan with a serious expression.

"I found several places that are isolated enough," he said, "but they still have people living there."

Ivan nodded once. Without wasting time, both of them shot upward into the sky and moved at an unbelievable speed toward a region near Zanzibar. Reaching the area, they descended toward a small island — not too large, but not too small either.

The moment they landed, something felt wrong.

The world looked… outdated. The technology was stuck in the 90s. There were no signs of supernatural abilities. No advanced tools. No hint that the people even knew the outside world existed.

As Ethan and Ivan gathered more information, their suspicion grew.

Isolated worlds existed, yes — but in a world with superpower, it was extremely rare.

Ethan hesitated for a moment, then spoke.

"Ivan… we should check why they're this cut off. Maybe we can do something about it."

Ivan shook his head.

"We don't have that kind of time, Ethan. And we're not here to concern ourselves with outer-zone people."

With that, he turned away and continued searching for the Amethyst Mythos. Ethan reluctantly followed. But even after searching every corner of the island, they found nothing.

Later, as they walked through the streets, a sudden scream cut through the air.

"Help me!"

A woman's voice — panicked and desperate.

They rushed toward the sound and found two men threatening a woman who looked to be in her thirties. A young boy — maybe twelve to fourteen — clung to her arm, terrified.

Ethan and Ivan stepped forward.

"Leave them alone," Ivan said.

The men looked at the two of them and scoffed. Compared to the attackers, Ethan and Ivan looked like ordinary teenagers.

"Get out of here," one of the men growled. "Don't mess with people you don't know."

Ethan stared at him. Then, in an instant, he disappeared and reappeared directly in front of the man. The sudden movement startled everyone — even the woman and the child.

Ethan slapped one of the men, sending him flying into a nearby building.

The second man's eyes widened. He stretched out his palm and an electric current shot from his hand, striking Ethan. Ethan barely felt it — just a slight burn.

He turned to the man, shocked not by the attack, but by the fact that the man had used a power at all. Ever since they arrived on the island, they had seen no one with any abilities.

Ethan grabbed the man by the wrist.

"Where did you get that power? Why haven't we seen anyone else use something like that?"

The man grimaced but answered.

"I got it… from the crystal."
