But this time, the item in question was worth nearly thirty million — far too valuable to fall into the hands of haters.
With the speed granted by the Red Descendant, Xu Dan could practically put on music and catch shrimp for her while he ran.
By the time he'd grown accustomed to the new weapon in his hand, his destination was already in sight.
The moment he arrived, the acrid stench of burning rubber hit him.
Damn it. That hurts.
Snapping back to himself, he could see from a distance the scene of Abomination rampaging through the streets.
The ground troops had been completely wiped out; only a few helicopter gunships still hovered in the air, firing warning shots.
Those rounds could graze Abomination, but they couldn't inflict any real damage.
Xu Dan quietly pulled out his phone and dialed Ross.
"Hey, I'm taking over. Tell your people to pull back."
"Bruce Banner has arrived?" Ross asked sharply.
"Nope."
"Hey—!"
Beep… beep…
General Ross's face flushed with rage as he glared down at the swaggering Blonsky below. He practically ground his teeth to dust in hatred.
He was a general — and what was Blonsky? A useless waste.
Turn yourself into a monster and think you're invincible?
Fine. Withdraw the troops first. Reduce the losses as much as possible.
Xu Dan watched as the gunfire gradually died down, and Abomination finally quieted a little on the street.
After transforming into this hideous creature, Blonsky had somehow retained his human sanity, unlike the Hulk's usual mindless fury.
But gains always come with losses. Though Blonsky's mind remained intact, he would never again return to human form.
From now on, whether he wanted it or not, he would live inside that monstrous skin.
Assuming, of course, he survived.
Xu Dan's butcher's knife was already prepared for him.
With a burst of Wind Step, he slipped instantly into stealth, accelerating toward Abomination at a blistering pace.
At that moment, Abomination's attention was still fixed on the sky. He had no idea that a lethal killing intent was racing straight toward him.
Just as the stealth state faded, Xu Dan swung the blade in his hand.
Whether it was the sheer sharpness of the weapon or Abomination's fatigue from prolonged fighting, the strike carved open a deep gash across the monster's waist with surprising ease.
"AAAHHH!!"
Staggering back in pain, Abomination finally registered the human who had appeared out of thin air. This human—this tiny creature—had actually dared to strike him at such close range!
Abomination's mind was clear; his thinking was nothing like the fractured duality of Hulk and Banner.
Abomination was Blonsky. One mind. One being. No separation.
This form was simply Blonsky's new reality.
During the months he spent recovering—back when he was still in the medical center—he had often heard Xu Dan's name.
Of course he had also investigated this so-called Xu Dan through his own channels.
And now, this man dared to injure him.
On that monstrous, ugly face, hatred rose like a tide.
No matter what this "game developer" was, no matter what achievements he had—injuring him now meant death.
With a thunderous roar, Abomination lunged, stretching out his massive hand to seize Xu Dan.
If that hand ever closed around him, Xu Dan's fate was obvious.
But Xu Dan's reaction speed was something Abomination couldn't begin to match.
The moment that massive hand swept toward him, Xu Dan activated Mirror Doppelganger.
Abomination crushed the clone into pieces instantly—thinking he had caught the real one—only for another blade to pierce his flesh from behind.
When dealing with enemies, Xu Dan had never been merciful.
But Abomination's body was unbelievably tough.
The new wound had barely opened before the previous one was already healing.
This twisted regenerative power was truly troublesome.
"Die for me!"
Abomination roared again. Huge as he was, he wasn't clumsy; his fist swung with terrifying speed, aimed directly at Xu Dan's skull.
A punch from a creature that size could turn Xu Dan into a smear of meat paste.
But the Sword Saint's inheritance granted him an instinct for battle sharper than any blade.
On the continent of Azeroth, a Sword Saint fought not only humans, but countless monstrous forms.
The creature before him was just another—albeit slightly larger—monster.
Xu Dan could dodge that blow with his eyes half closed.
His vast battle experience made him fluid even in the heart of danger.
Abomination grew increasingly unsettled by Xu Dan's bizarre evasive movements and instinctively pulled back.
His brute strength meant nothing against such refined combat instincts.
Every time he gathered enough force to strike—force that could kill an elephant with a single blow—his attacks still failed.
It felt like unleashing his full rage into a pile of cotton.
"Don't run if you've got the guts!" Abomination roared.
But Xu Dan wasn't falling for such a childish provocation.
Honestly, the Abomination looked downright pitiful now.
Moments ago, he'd been unstoppable on the streets—and now he was the one being punished.
With that thought, Xu Dan struck again.
Since slashing flesh healed too quickly, this time he went straight for bone.
Everyone knew the calf was where the bone lay closest to the surface, with only a thin layer of skin and muscle covering it.
The Hell-forged Sword of Destruction in his hand proved its worth—sharp and blazing hot.
The green hide, which bullets couldn't even dent, parted like tofu beneath his blade.
Each slash left behind a searing mark, burning like living fire.
Abomination endured it—
Until—
CRACK!!
The sound of bone breaking rang out.
Who would have ever imagined that such a brutal, terrifying creature could be reduced to this?
It was absurd. Impossible.
This was a monster that could tear a car in half, that had tossed human soldiers aside like rag dolls.
Bullets barely left a mark—they just pinged off him like cigarette butts flicked onto pavement.
And yet in front of Xu Dan, all of that meant nothing.
He shattered every assumption people had about these monsters.
It turned out humans didn't need guns or tanks. A single man, armed with the right weapon, could stand alone before such a creature—and win.
Especially with the weapon in his hand.
In his helicopter, General Ross stared intently, eyes gleaming with a new ambition. Not only did he need super-soldiers—he needed that kind of super-weapon.
But just as he was plotting how to screw Xu Dan over and steal his weapon, a black shadow suddenly leapt toward the helicopter—fast.
It was no one else.
It was Abomination.
