Chapter 2 - The Bite

Mid April-2014

It was their senior year field trip for middle school for Peter's class. It's a bit early before graduating, but it made sure they wouldn't meet with other field-trips to wherever it may be they were going.

He, as well as most of his classmates, is 14 years old and waiting excitedly for the news as to where exactly they would be going.

Peter and Harry had both forgotten their recent weird animosity towards one another (more from Harry towards Peter than the other way around) when the teacher had announced it was going to be in Oscorp, thanks in part for Harry being in that class and his father wanting to show such a brilliant class (mostly Peter) what working in Oscorp is like.

Harry's class was guaranteed to go, but the ones who also got the opportunity at going were the members of the academic decathlon team.

Funnily enough that meant both Peter and Gwen got double pass at going, and were happy that their members from their team that belonged in the same year as them were assisting. Including some like Betty Brant, who is in Mary Jane's and Gwen's band.

And so the time came for the field trip, Peter was exited to leave for it as Ben came knocking on the door. "You ready champ?"

"Yeah just a minute, I'm putting my shoes on!" Answered Peter cheerfully as Ben entered.

"All right then, today I'll be giving you and Anna's nice a ride there since all the buses have already left, so don't take long, okay?" Said Ben as he remembered the students for the field trip are required to enter school half an hour later.

"I'm done uncle I just need-" *Thump* Peter started saying, only to be interrupted by a book that fell from his shelf.

"…" Peter didn't say anything, but gazed at his shelf rather than his book, he felt shivers down his spine and he felt as if something, or someone, was watching him from within it.

"You okay there son?" Asked Ben after hearing something fall, followed by silence so he decided to step into the room.

"Y-yeah, let's go!" Answered Peter as he hurried out.

Ben watched as Peter flew past him and ran towards the stairs, but he stood there in Peter's room for a few seconds. Watching whatever he felt was there in the shelf.

It was talking to him, yelling. Ben felt his heart heart squeeze as well as beating harder against his rib cage. He walked a step forward and tried to reach the shelf with his hand from all the way over the room.

"Ben?" Peter called out from downstairs, snapping Ben from whatever spell he was under. The older man widened his eyes slightly and took in a large breath he didn't know he was missing.

Ben looked around, trying to remember what he was doing "C-Coming!" He called out to Peter once he gave up.

He closed the door to the boy's room, not without giving one last look at the shelf.

Picking up Mary Jane with her usual extroverted demeanor was fun for Ben, enough for him to forget all about the shelf that has been eating at him. Seeing his shy nephew get embarrassed at all the jokes she made with a subtle hint of flirting in it, just for it to go over Peter's head is priceless. It reminded him of his younger years with May.

But today was different for Ben, he felt as though he knew something was going to change in his life. He felt ready for whatever it was, but wasn't sure about Peter. He was so young, green and innocent; even if Ben and May had all the faith of the world in him, he wasn't sure Peter was ready to become the great man Ben is confident he is destined to be.

He was sure Peter was going to be a great man, who would do equally great things. But he felt it in his soul that now was the time to tell him that, and what little wisdom he had left in him to share it with Peter.

Something was going to happen today, and old man Ben felt it in his entire being.

'I'm probably just getting emotional at seeing Peter so grown up and with pretty girls' Chuckled Ben to himself, somewhat doubtful himself.

"…and today we're going to have band practice at Gwen's, and I better see you there, Tiger!" Coming back to the real world, Ben saw from the rear view mirror both teens blushing slightly while talking excitedly.

*Chuckle* "Of course MJ, I wouldn't miss a rehearsal of my favorite band for the world" said his nephew, talking with deep affection in his voice. Making the redhead blush slightly more.

"Good! Oh, we're here. Thanks so much Mr. Parker!" Said MJ as she grabbed Peter by his arm, dragging him across the seats until she almost got him out.

"Hang on dear, could you let me borrow Peter for a few seconds? We arrived a little early so I'd like to have a word with him" Ben chuckled to himself when MJ thought about it for a moment, as if she was seriously debating with herself whether to let the boy stay or not.

"Sure, don't take too long, Tiger!" Yelled MJ as she realized she took a little longer than intended, running towards her bandmates.

"Am I in trouble?" Asked Peter in genuine intrigue without an ounce of fear. He was a nice kid and he knew it.

*Chuckle* "God no Pete, the contrary actually. Come up here" patting the side of his chair, he saw Peter get out of the car and sat in the front, still with a questioning look.

"So what is it uncle Ben?" ever curious, the boy asked.

"There's something in the air today, y'know son? I feel like things are going to change and it's probably just my age talking but… I'm proud of you Peter" said the older man as he looked deep into his nephew's with soft eyes "I've seen you grow from a kid into a fine young man, who I know will turn into a great man. Your body is going through changes-"

"Oh god, Ben" embarrassed by that Peter interrupted and hid his face in one hand.

*Chuckle* "I went through the same thing with my old man, believe me" that got the boy to laugh as well "but Peter, these are the years when a man changes into the man he's going to become, for the rest of his life… be careful of who you're changing into okay?" Said now Ben seriously, taking note of how attentive Peter was listening to him, absorbing every word.

"And remember, 'with great power comes great responsibility' " said the uncle and nephew duo at the same time while laughing lightly. It was Ben's favorite phrase, so Peter was already familiar with it.

But he never paid too much attention to it, until now. His uncle was right, ever since he looked at the shelf this morning he felt like something was in the air today. He felt weird, watched.

And perhaps it could just be puberty, but he did feel like he needed to hear those words from the wisest person he knows.

"Well, I won't take more of your time, I can see you got a few girls waiting for you there" after a few seconds of silence, Ben said amused. Watching Gwen, Chat, MJ and even Jessica give unsure glances at the car.

"…thanks uncle Ben, see you later!" Peter still took a moment to reflect on what he had been told and what he's feeling, to then run off to his class.

Peter saw his uncle drive away while he wondered what was that about until he reached his class in front of the school.

"Everything okay?" Asked Mary Jane as she took place beside Peter, who look lost in thought. It's not usually something weird for the Parker boy to be lost in his mind, but right before a field trip to a science exhibit with such a serious gaze on his glass covered eyes is.

"Hmm?" Peter asks dumbly as he's brought out of his head, seeing as Gwen, Chat, Harry and obviously, MJ surround him.

"Finally got the old man to scold you or something, Pete?" Harry asked with a smirk adorning his face.

"Wha- oh that" Peter motions to the street his uncke just turned left into with his car "n-no, nothing like that, he just… wanted help to update his phone is all. You know how people his age are with electronics". Peter quips, unsure himself on why he lied.

He could tell himself that he did so because it's embarrassing to tell your friends that your father figure wanted to have 'The Talk' or maybe he lied because he didn't want to recite the words that Ben told him, wanting to keep them to himself.

But in reality he wasn't sure on why he did it, and now he's nervous about being found out.

"Oh yeah, my dad spent like half an hour trying to unmute the Tv" Gwen said, agreeing with Peter's statement on older poeple and making the ones around her laugh.

"Tiger? You sure-" Mary Jane tried questioning Peter again, because she knows he lied.

She has this dream of becoming an actress, so she spends most of her time at home seeing videos on how to act and actors secrets to how to perform better, so she can confidently say that she can recognize good and bad acting.

Peter is a bad actor.

Unfortunately for her, the small bus just came into view, printing the teacher to call out to all the students to line up and be ready to board it.

MJ mentally groaned at the interruption, but then shrugged it off when he saw Peter talking excitedly with Gwen and Harry about what they can expect to see in Oscorp, while the latter one is boasting about it all.

She shrugged it and stepped into the bus. After all, she knows Peter wouldn't just lie to her. At least not with a good reason.

'It's probably something embarrassing' MJ thought giggling as Betty called her name in the bus so that they sat down together.

Meanwhile Peter spent the entire trip there chatting with Gwen about what they might see while he was sitting next to Chat. Mary Jane chose to sit with Betty and Gwen and Harry were together. But Peter and Gwen talked all the way there making many roll their eyes at the nerdish conversation, since they were in front of each other in the row seats it was easy for them to talk and flood the entire bus with the sound of their excited voices.

Thing that didn't sit well with the usual crowd anti-nerds that mainly consisted of Flash Thompson and his group, but this time he chose to ignore Parker's and Stacy's rant on science to talk with his own buddies about the last game of their middle school.

Chat was trying to butt in then and again but couldn't keep up with the conversation. As much as she wanted to keep Peter's attention on her, she was glad he was excited about this.

Once there, Peter and company spent their time listening to the guide, Peter taking photos of his friends in front of exhibits they liked with his trusty camera and some together with them as he asked some of his classmates the favor. They didn't mind as many of them were neutral to Peter.

The boy tried to make time with all of his friends, asking them about their opinion on whatever it was that they were seeing.

He also talked with Liz, who looked pleased with him for taking time to socialize with as many people as he was doing. Teasing him from time to time and even making body contact unaware of the girls that glared daggers at her when she did so.

Jessica was also fun to talk to in his opinion, even though she was nervous he could see she was also glad by his effort of talking to her. Gladness he repaid by seeing her trying to talk to him more naturally.

Peter even got one of those rare moments with Flash that made Peter unsure if he was really the asshole he played to be.

"I guess this nerd stuff is like your heaven, right?" Asked Flash as he neared Peter, teasing, but not in the way of being rude.

*Scoff* "My heaven would include access upstairs, they have men like Connors here, y'know?" Peter answered truthfully to his question. These were brilliant men that worked here, and he has looked up to the man since some years back. One day he hoped to meet them.

"Actually, I did. I looked if there was someone interesting working in this place and I recognized the name you usually blabber about in biology class with Stacy. Lucky you, if it was up to me we'd be meeting the New York giants" they both laughed at that.

"Hey, if we have to vote for our senior field trip on high school I'll give my vote to whatever you choose, only fair, right?" Peter said with a smirk.

"Heh, I'll have to hold you to that, Pete" Flash said as he walked away, seeing Mary Jane approaching them both, but knowing she wanted to talk to Peter.

"I'm impressed, Tiger, you got a whole interaction with him without getting shoved or insulted. Must be a record" MJ half teased, still impressed by seeing them interact like old friends catching up.

"Yeah, your boyfriend is not that bad huh?" Said Peter as he watched Mary Jane's face twist from a teasing grin to an annoyed frown.

"Peter, I've told you before, Flash and I have never dated and never will, okay?" She indeed has said that before, but it still weirds him out.

When Mary Jane first enrolled into the school Peter had a small crush on her, crush he disposed of quickly as he also liked Gwen and didn't want to be seen as an asshole for liking many girls at the same time. Then a short while after she enrolled he would see Mary Jane and Flash talking alone or walking out of school together, he might've also overheard something about Flash liking her, but he isn't so sure.

Though he never saw them doing anything besides talk and walk together, he got the feeling they were dating. Also "didn't he invite you to the prom we seniors will have in June?" Asked Peter remembering that as well.

That got MJ embarrassed. She never dated Flash and she doesn't think she would ever. Even though she knows he may like her, she simply doesn't. And sure, they may talk when it's just the two of them and he would sometimes treat her for ice cream or something when school's out. But to her, the relationship they have is entirely platonic.

As to why she accepted going to prom with him, it's because once he told MJ that he liked Liz Allan, but she turned him down sometime ago and he didn't know what to do for prom. So MJ told him they could go together so that he doesn't feel alone that night, but only and strictly as friends.

But that's private to Flash and her since he did ask her to not tell around that he was rejected as a favor to him "T-that's different!" Was the only excuse she found.

"Hey that's fine, you don't have to explain it to me. Knowing that actually saves me from the embarrassment of asking you only to be turned down" Peter said with a small sad chuckle.

Peter first wanted to invite Gwen.

Unfortunately Harry just recently told Peter that he really liked Gwen, and since he doesn't want to lose whatever friendship they still may have, he told Harry that he should go for it and invite her. She accepted, which he was kinda hoping she didn't. But oh well.

She did tell Peter that she was waiting for another guy to ask her that wasn't Harry, but since Harry was so damn insistent she said yes in a moment of weakness, so Peter shouldn't get any ideas of that. What she meant by that Peter did not know (because he is dense and atupid).

Then he thought about MJ who always denies that she's dating or dated Flash, so maybe he'd get a shot.

She was going with Flash.

Bummer.

He was considering asking Chat, but one day at lunch she had told all him and his friends that she wouldn't be able to go, since starting summer vacation she would go and spend summer with her dad who was divorced from her mom and moved to California. The graduation was after summer started.

Well, that was surely a bummer as well, but he'd figure what to do, if not… he would figure it out. And even if he didn't, what was the harm of going without a date? He knows they are all still going as a group, plus, what can be expected of someone like him?

Peter bas self esteem, so that's why he didn't have the courage to ask any of the girls he wanted to before. Guess that's what years of bullying does to you.

"Y-you wanted to ask me to prom?" Asked Mary Jane in disbelief, both happy at that fact and cursing Flash and herself for being such a good friend to blond.

"…H-hey look at that exhibit of spiders!" Peter didn't know what to say after that. Sometimes his tongue got loose and he couldn't control it. He blames it on the famous 'Parker luck'.

So Peter left MJ in a hurry as he didn't want to be told anything about what he just said. And because he was actually interested in genetically engineered spiders. There was something about them that seemed to draw him to them.

MJ did not follow him, staying in the same position for several minutes, processing the fact that she had the perfect opportunity with Peter and she unknowingly blew it. Now it was only a matter of time before another girl snatched Peter from her and her carelessness.

'God dammit!' Thought MJ as she went to look for Peter.

He was watching the exhibit with great interest, listening to the person in charge of the field trip together with Gwen after catching up with her.

"… so we took the information from all those spiders and into these, fifteen genetically designed super-spiders" because of his talk with Gwen he didn't hear clearly either Chat approach or whatever the lady was saying; something about combining many different attributes of different types of spiders into fifteen.

"There's fourteen" stated Chat after wanting to see each of them up close. She is actually a mutant with the power to talk to animals, something she keeps close to herself due to the public hate of the majority of people towards her kind. She normally likes to talk and listen to whatever they have to say, but she really doesn't like talking with spiders, they say vile things.

"I beg your pardon?" Asked the lady, turning her attention to Chat.

"There's only fourteen" states Chat again, not looking away from the glasses which held said spiders.

"Oh yeah, she's right" added Gwen, seeing her friend was right.

"Huh, I guess a researcher must be working on that one… anyway over here we have-" started the lady to explain another thing Peter for once did not care for, still watching all the spiders from afar.

"See something you like Parker" asked Gwen while raising an eyebrow. Because she and Chat were so close to the exhibit, it may have looked as if he was staring at the both of them.

And they didn't mind one bit. "Yeah take a picture mister, it'll last longer" added Chat teasingly.

But Peter was used to this behavior from them both "May I?" He asked as he waved his camera a little.

"Just don't make us look ugly"said Gwen as she and Chat were doing funny poses.

"You two ugly? *pfft* that's impossible" answered the boy coolly in one of those moments where he was so immersed in something that interested him that he forgets he's a nervous wreck, making him able to speak properly; this being photography.

Suddenly both girls felt a little self conscious of their silly poses and posed for real as Peter took the photos "All right smooth talker, let's get going" said Chat embarrassed by the whole interaction, closely followed by Gwen.

Peter stayed there, watching them scramble as he chuckled lightly to himself. He heard from afar a girl yelp in pain, but thought nothing of it, so he stood still for various minutes looking through all the photos he took of his friends and a few of himself.

Unaware that something was crawling up his clothes. A red, blue, and mainly black spider with its eyes slightly glowing an ominous red.

Until "ARGH what the…" exclaimed Peter as he felt something painful in the neck.

The moment he felt that he closed his eyes tightly, believing he saw an almost see-through giant man with an even bigger head with blank eyes staring at him, or at least near him. He felt as if he experienced a thousand things at the same time. Impossible things.

Only for all of it to stop as quickly as it came, like it had never even happened.

To then quickly swat his hand at it. He looked at his hand a saw a very small, now very dead spider "what in the…"

Peter would've tried to take a better look at it, if not for Harry grabbing him by the arm and starting to drag him. "Come on man, I was looking for you! You're gonna lose the Q&A. Maybe Doctor Connor's makes an appearance!"

Peter lost the little thing, letting himself be carried away while pretending that nothing happened and exclaiming how cool that'd be.

Half an hour before going home, everyone saw how sickly Peter got. He was both sweating and shivering, his face got all pale and he stayed unusually quiet. When the bus came for them he could barely walk.

"You don't look so hot, Tiger" Mary Jane finally said while sitting beside him, with all of his friends' attention on him.

"I don't think he's listening to you" muttered Chat as she looked at Peter from her own seat in front of Peter, kneeling in this one to look at the boy.

"I can *Huff* listen to you guys perfectly" muttered Peter as he held his head in his hand, resting against the cool window.

"Oh? What's this? Parker's geekiness is finally starting to make him sick?" Taunted Sally Avril from the back of the bus, laughing with her group. All where laughing but Randy and Glory, who did see just how bad he looked as they got on the bus.

"That's not funny! He really looks bad" Gwen yelled back to the group, who looked a little uncomfortable at being called back to. All but Sally who just huffed.

MJ took this chance and held Peter's hand, removing it from his forehead and touching it with her own "Oh my god, Peter! You're burning up!" She exclaimed, not letting go of his hand.

"You okay there, Pete?" Harry asked from the seat in between Flash's group and Peter's after taking out his earphones to see what all the commotion was about.

"I *huff* I don't know" Peter admitted with heavy breathes and a killing headache.

"Maybe you should stay home today Pete, we understand if you can't make it to rehearsal" said Gwen with a heavy heart as she would've loved for him to be there, but there's no way with him looking like that.

Feelings shared by MJ.

"… y'know normally I'd try to argue, but I think I'm gonna take your word for it, but next time without a doubt I'll be there okay?" What he said worried everyone a little bit more, even those who dislike Peter, since they know how stubborn and careless he is when it comes to his own health and how bad he is to deny a request from Gwen or MJ. If he says he's feeling tired it is because he's actually bad.

"Mmm, yeah you do look bad" Mr. Harrington, who was their chaperone for the field trip said after Chat told him what was going on. "Do you need me to call your uncle for you?

"…no thanks Mr. Harrington, we're already at school and I'm not far" Peter said after considering it for a second too long. But seeing as they just turned the last corner to his school and knowing this city's traffic, it would be faster for Peter to take his usual route.

Once they were out of the bus, Peter was about to walk away, but was stopped by MJ "Hey Tiger, want me to walk you home? Wouldn't want you to pass out in the middle of the road or something" she quipped, trying to mask her worry.

"Nah, don't worry. I'll text you girls when I'm home" Peter said in between heavy breaths.

"…you sure?" MJ asked, wanting confirmation. She doesn't want to leave Peter like this to his luck, which she knows it sucks, but her band really needs to practice before their prom in which they will have a space to play.

"Of course MJ. Just promise to leave my favorite song for when I do go to your rehearsal" Peter managed to smile gently at the redhead to ease her.

Which worked wonders since she beamed at him "You got it! Text me when you get home!" She yelled as he went back to her friends.

Peter waved goodbye to everyone else, who replied in kind as he started walking home.

Once he got there, barely, he was greeted by May who was busy cooking for the family. Mustering all his strength, he told May in the most normal voice he could get out "Oh hey May! I would tell you all about my day, but I'm not feeling too good right now. Can I go to bed?" He said as he started walking up the stairs.

"Really? Now? Are you feeling unwell sweetie?" May asked with worry as she dropped everything she was doing, printing Peter to climb up the stairs faster so as to not be seen.

He doesn't want to worry May, and he's pretty sure that just a nap will do the trick in getting him back to normal.

"Just tired May, goodnight!" Peter yelled as he closed the door to his room.

'Yeah, just a little sleep and all will be better' he concluded as he dropped to his bed.

A few hours later Peter was dying.

He was still in bed, writhing in pain and breathing heavily with much effort because it hurt to do so. Peter didn't know what was happening, he didn't even know what's real anymore.

Every little sound was like it exploded in his ear and any light was like looking at the sun. He felt every single thread of his shirt in his body and everything had now a smell to it, not ugly or pleasant, it just did.

Peter felt like he was made of ice, as if his body from one moment to another stopped producing natural heat. But all his muscles were burning with intense heat.

Not only that, all his muscles and bones felt as if they were shredding themselves apart, only to regenerate as fast as they were breaking. His skin was stretching unnaturally against his body, while his clothes started to tighten around him.

Peter would have definitely yelled in agony if not for how his lungs, throat and overall how everything felt.

He got rid of his shirt by tearing it away, not standing how it felt on his body. Actually, every single part of his body started feeling wrong, especially the way his palms and feet tingle and buzzed slightly, comparing it to the static of a Tv.

He lost track of time due to the haziness he was feeling, his mind cloudy with uncertainty. It could've been minutes or even days since Peter got home from the field trip and he'd never known.

What he did know it's that at some point his nose started to bleed, seeing as how his lower face was wet and the smell of iron invaded his now sensitive nose.

He needed to take a shower, a hot one so that his aching muscles could ease up a little bit. So he started walking towards the bathroom with great effort. He failed at avoiding hitting his desk, making stuff on top of it fall, but he didn't care.

He tried to open his eyes and walk in a straight path, but he couldn't handle all the light coming from outside. Was it a street lamp? Was it the sun? Peter wasn't sure what could possibly be outside his window for his eyes to hurt this much, so he just kept them tightly closed.

He started walking, and walking and kept walking until he started to wonder if he even made it out of the bed and was just hallucinating his movement. For some reason every 10 or so steps he took, he would feel the gravity shift around him, pulling his shirt upwards or to the sides. At some point he even decided to crawl like a baby would, feeling the floor with his palms

Floor that was weirdly smooth. Until he reached a corner where gravity finally seemed to right itself. He stood up and forced his eyes open, seeing the door to his bathroom just in front of him.

Who knows how long it took him to finally arrive at the door, which he thinks he busted wide open without even grabbing the handle, but he wasn't sure. It didn't make sense to him, how pressing his palm flat against the door and pulling got it somehow open, but who cares right now?

Instead of worrying about some damn door, Peter could only turn on the bathroom lights and wince as he did so, it was so bright he couldn't stand it and he mentally scolded himself for turning them on. He couldn't stand the light outside, why on earth would he resist this one?

Yet he kept it on, not finding the strength to turn around again. He attempted to turn the shower on, only for him to definitely rip off one of the two knobs of the wall.

His head started throbbing like never before causing his legs to wobble; he could no longer stand. He fell to his knees and coughed blood, actual blood came out of him in this state.

He was freaking out, he needed to call for Ben, May , and ambulance or anybody that could help him! Peter doesn't know what or why this is happening and he is scared.

Scared like he has never been before. His very life is at risk with no one knowing he is dying in excruciating pain.

He couldn't call out to his aunt or uncle, it was just impossible for him to raise his voice. So he decided to stand up and try to search for them.

But that was a mistake 'I'm gonna die, I'm seriously going to die!' Was the last thing a terrified Peter thought before he fell once again, now completely flat on the floor. He turned around to be face up so that he could grab on to his towel rack and try to stand again, but he only managed to reach for the blinding light before passing out.

Peter 'woke up' in an endless void of black.

There was nothing but darkness as far as his eyes could see, yet he could still see himself clearly, as if he was being hit by the sun one regular day.

Peter could only feel panicked as he stood up from the ground and realized quickly that that was the wrong move as that made him dizzy. He tried to steady himself but failed, he fell on all fours and vomited.

"aaa-AAAARGH" he yelled, first in disbelief and then in fear as he saw the only thing that came out of his mouth where tiny little blue and red spiders. He once again got up and started running away from them.

But where could he go? Where was he? What could he possibly do to leave wherever he was? Peter pondered with terror, feeling eyes on him at all times. He stopped running once the floor became sticky and he literally couldn't move anymore. The eyes he felt before now felt closer, up above him. So he looked up.

And there he saw it.

A massive black spider with unblinking red eyes and huge fangs that could stab through any man. It was watching him from above while descending towards him as they normally do when approaching a prey in a slow, and agonizing manner.

"AAAAH N-NO!" yelled Peter as he tried to escape again, only to find himself trapped by spider webs from the bottom of his feet to the top of his knees, making him unable to even fall. The spider descended to a frightened Peter with utter despair in his face, but stopped at an arm's length from him.

Now unable to talk due to the sheer fear Peter was experiencing, he gazed up at the spider, feeling himself getting filled with inhuman curiosity replacing the fear.

'w-why does it feel…familiar?' Questioned Peter as the spider looked deeply into Peter's soul with those big unmoving and dangerous red eyes.

"peTEr" Peter's breath hitched up at the unearthly voice of the spider that made a shiver run down Peter's spine "eMbraCE US" was the last thing that the spider said before touching Peter carefully with one of its many legs.

When the leg made contact with Peter, the spider exploded into thousands of the little spiders that Peter vomited earlier.

Meanwhile Peter closed his eyes tightly after the spider exploded.

Dazed by this, he saw in his mind thousands-no, millions of people with a mask that had a similar set of white, creepy and angry looking eyes, all varying between colors and schemes but having an air of familiarity between them.

Then it shifted through millions of images in a fraction of a second of these people fighting others. Some regular men, some had animal like attributes, some had silly costumes and others were down right monsters.

After that he saw a woman with a skin made of gold with black clothes, together with the silhouette of a man that appeared to be a window into space.

A pale man sitting in a throne of pure darkness, with black armor and a red spider on his chest, looking as if the darkness itself was keeping him prisoner.

Two bodiless floating heads. One barely looked human, as if a kid messed with a statue of clay, and it looked angry because of it, with a mouth and eyes that were windows to space. The other head was that of a strong jawed and bald man, with bushy brows.

A man with shoulder length black hair and some weird type of armor, all white in his clothes grinning childishly at Peter.

A man that resembled a demon, with blood colored skin and a cape of the same tone. Looking directly at Peter with creepy yellow, glowing eyes that showed nothing but unparalleled rage.

A golden statue with two more heads on his side, all with a cloth that worked like a veil for the three heads. With its eyes and chest glowing a powerful blue.

Then a skeleton in a black robe showed up in front him, taking more than the fraction of seconds the others showed up. It bowed in a mocking manner to Peter, only his stand up again showed it was actually a beautiful pale woman with black lipstick and some markings on her face. She winked sensually at Peter with a mischievous grin on her face.

An old woman clad in red, sitting in a spider-like golden chair and a spider web behind her with a blindfold on her face. She had a soft and sad smile on her face. Looking at Peter as if she was about to apologize to him.

Then a half-human, half-spider creature. His top human half is wearing Victorian clothes paired with some steampunk accessories like his helmet with many eyes and tubes. The bottom spider-half is huge and golden colored. He saw Peter and reached over to him with his gloved hand before he shot what looked like a golden web from his fingers.

Peter, even with his eyes closed, could see how the golden web impacted on his chest and glowed a bright golden light, before turning into a deep crimson color.

His red web connected to a larger, golden one which has window-like viewings of the millions of people with similar attire, each going on about their life's.

Until some couldn't anymore. He could see perfectly as some of these costume wearing people died. Some with a gunshot, some others in an epic fight, another's in terrifying and gruesome ways against monsters and a few even died alone in what he could tell was an alleyway, all alone but with the perpetrator of their death.

When these people died, their window suddenly changed from the beautiful golden color, to the same crimson red that decorated his own. A pulse of light was sent through the entire web from their window to his chest via the web, connecting him to those assassinated.

The last one that showed up reminded him of his uncle, bringing that fatherly presence that could calm him down. He was a simple man with a green sweater, grey hair, mustache and glasses. He smiled excitedly at Peter while exclaiming "Excelsior!" Causing Peter to open his eyes again.

He was now in an endless golden field instead of a black one. The two seconds he spent with his eyes closed were enough for the thousand spiders to cover Peter almost entirely in webs, leaving only his nose to the top of his head free.

For now.

He gazed in front of him, seeing a little crying kid being hugged by a man in a red and blue costume that was apologizing profusely. Both looked so painfully familiar to Peter that he freaked out, as if he was looking at something he knew in his nature he wasn't supposed to see.

He knows who those two are, he feels it in his very soul. But he can't tell who they are specifically. The kid, more so than the grown man, made his heart squeeze at just how familiar he looks, while his stomach sank at the eyes of the grown one.

Peter felt the spiders start to encase him completely as the man and boy in front of him looked back at him. The kid was dressed formally, but had a face that screamed grief. And the taller man had a face of sorrow that looked wrong with his ominous deep red eyes.

They both just stop there, watching Peter be completely encased in webbing, leaving him in something akin to a cocoon.

'I'm scared' was the only thing Peter could mutter to himself time and time again in the depths of his consciousness. He was changing in there, but to what?

He didn't know.

Until he felt as if he regained his strength and some more, giving him the courage to force his fist through the cocoon and rip it open. He felt light hitting him again and he forced his eyes open to see…

Peter woke up.

He still felt the blood that spilled from his mouth and nose from earlier but now dried up. He knew he was dreaming but what exactly he couldn't say. He didn't care either way.

Seeing as how everything has now changed.

He slowly sat up, looking in awe at everything he laid eyes on. He knew he didn't have his glasses on, but even with them he'd never seen this clearly. He can even see the dust perfectly on the other side of where he was sitting.

He winced when a car honked, feeling as if it was just outside his bathroom door instead of the street outside. He placed his hands on his ears once he figured there wasn't any other way to stop hearing all the sounds in the street.

He slowly stood up, still amazed by everything, acting similarly to someone who was seeing color for the very first time. He got even more surprised and somewhat scared when he looked at himself in his mirror.

It was a medium size mirror that allowed him to see his entire face and part of his chest. His now very muscular chest. But more than that he freaked out by the state of his bloodied face.

But calmed down a little when he took a moment to assess himself and felt fine.

'Okay, let's not worry right now. Because if I freak out then May and Ben freak out and… MY AUNT AND UNCLE!' Peter then did freak out by not knowing how long he'd stayed unconscious in the bathroom for. He saw the busted door and paid no mind to it, stepping out to his room.

"Oh thank god" Relieved, he said out loud seeing his clock mark 7:30 am, barely past sunrise.

"Peter, are you awake already?" A worried aunt May asked, remembering how her nephew skipped dinner and went to sleep.

"Oh uh, y-yeah aunt May! I slept a lot yesterday and I'm now well rested!" answered Peter, noticing how his voice was slightly deeper than it was yesterday, with a tone of uncertainty.

"Are you feeling okay dear? You sound weird, I'm coming in" MJ is aunt stated as she grabbed the door knob.

"NO!" May flinched at how panicked Peter sounded and the strength he used to stop May from turning yhe knob.

"Peter?" Asked May with a hand to her chest, trying to calm herself at the unexpected shout from her nephew.

"I'm just… about to shower y'know?" Not technically a lie, but Peter could not allow May to see him like this. He doesn't even think her heart could handle seeing him with his face and chest all bloody like it is.

"Oh dear, you should have said so before *giggle* well if you're feeling better I guess I can make you some wheat cakes for breakfast, don't take long!" Answered May as she walked away, ready to start the day.

"…oh man" said Peter in a defeated tone as he now turned around to see himself in his full body mirror that he keeps in front of his closet's door.

"Oh man!" He exclaimed as he saw just how ripped he was. He looked like someone who trained his body for movies! Complete package and all! Big arms, six pack, V line and everything!

Peter isn't someone narcissistic, but holy shit does he have a body any 14 year old would envy, even his football player bullies.

Peter starts doing silly strongman poses until he notices again the blood on his face 'Yikes I really need a shower'.

Peter stepped into the bathroom once again, turning the lights off; he preferred to shower in his dark bathroom, illuminated only by a little window on the corner, than have his retinas burned. He then turned the hot water on, which Peter thanked god that the one he somehow ripped off was for the cold water, and waited for the hot water to come out.

He started undressing from his pants, and a "Holy shit!" could be heard from Peter's room as he finally saw himself as he came to the world, and noticed just how much his body had changed.
