Preface
Series: Records from the chamber of chronicle room
This story is part of a series in which one particular character appears in every tale, aside from each story's main protagonist. That recurring figure is named Chen Mi.
Chen Mi was born from the vast and mysterious edge of the universe itself. Her existence resembles that of a primordial deity of ancient times. Shrouded in mystery, she often takes on the guise of a mortal woman—favoring garments of crimson—and possesses immense power. She can travel across time, move through parallel universes, and roam freely among the three realms: Heaven, the Netherworld, and the Human World. Wandering through the currents of past, present, and future, she seeks tranquil places where she may rest beneath the moonlight.
Whenever she encounters a wandering soul—one tormented by fate, vengeance, or unresolved regrets—Chen Mi will ask what that spirit truly desires. Thus begin the stories of retribution, redemption, and fate's transformation that intertwine with the lives of the main characters.
So far, Records from the Chamber of Chronicle room has published forth volumes:
Book One: The Marquis's Daughter— a tale steeped in the essence of ancient China.Book Two: Back in Time to Be Wicked: The Eldest Miss Zhou— a historical novel set during the era of the Republic of China, when democracy and modern ideals flourished under the Nationalist government.Book Three: Return to the Throne of Stardom: This Time, I Will Win— in which Chen Mi appears as a former model who has turned to work behind the scenes in the entertainment industry, where she crosses paths with the story's heroine, Deng Suyao. This novel takes readers back to 1980, to the golden age of Hong Kong cinema and show business—a dazzling time that captivated audiences across Asia, including Thailand.
Each novel in the series can be read independently and in any order.
The fourth: Letters to Chang Mufang, set fifteen years before the events of Back in Time to Be Wicked: The Eldest Miss Zhou. At that time, China was mired in chaos, torn apart by rival warlords vying for power, and struck by a deadly pandemic known as the Spanish Flu, which claimed countless lives.
In such perilous times, how will Zhang Mufang survive, when the Republic of China was infamously dubbed "the Sick Man of Asia" by the international community?
And what role will Chen Mi, the mysterious female character and ever-present wanderer, play in this story?
Let us find out together in'Reborn to divorce the wicked husband.'
