Chapter 701 - Chapter 701: Crushing Disparity

Chapter 701: Crushing Disparity

The Revelation

Night fell quietly. A listless Diana lay on her bed, unable to stop replaying the day's events. The more she thought about it, the more something felt wrong. She had a nagging feeling that she had missed a clue, but she couldn't place it.

Low-cut dress? High-heeled boots? Cheetah? State Senator? Mistress?

Wait!

Diana suddenly woke up with a start.

"The dress! The dress is the problem."

"Eva!"

"Hello, Princess. What can I do for you?"

The gentle synthesized voice sounded in her ear. Diana quickly got out of bed and said seriously,

"Can you find the sales volume and purchasers of that dress?"

"Please wait a moment."

Three seconds later, a list of names appeared on her retina. "A total of nine stores in Washington sell the Only latest summer design. Due to the high price, total sales as of today are only 76 sets. Below are the buyers' bank accounts and personal information."

Diana quickly scrolled through the names, instantly finding Barbara Minerva's. She had only bought one. When she reached the last name, her expression froze instantly.

Connes Flick, Washington State Senator!

His credit card paid for one dress, purchased this morning at eight o'clock.

Thump!

Diana sank onto the sofa, grabbing her hair, visibly distressed.

"Barbara, you really lied to me."

Eva asked, "Princess, is there anything I need to do?"

Diana composed herself and said in a low voice, "Track Connes Flick. I need to know his recent movements."

"Understood. Mechanical Bees deployed. Target: Connes Flick."

The Hunter's Servant

In a villa in the Washington suburbs.

Connes Flick, the State Senator, knelt on the floor, looking incredibly humble, like a loyal servant meeting his master. Lounging elegantly and gracefully on the sofa in front of him was a beast. It had a face similar to a human's, a cheetah's body, long hair draped behind its head, and was covered in fur. Even so, it could not hide the fatal allure radiating from its body.

Facing this "temptress," Flick dared not harbor any desires, only submission.

"Master, who has displeased you? Please tell me, and I will make them suffer the torments of hell."

Barbara licked her palm with her tongue and spoke in a cold voice,

"How's the search going?"

Flick lowered his voice. "I've deployed all my people, but there's still no news of Luke Shaw."

"Useless!"

A low growl exploded in the room. Flick trembled and immediately lowered his head.

"Never mind. How could a waste like you find him? I'm here today because I have something else for you to do."

"Just tell me. Whatever it is, I will do it."

"Diana Prince!"

Barbara lifted her head, her eyes blazing with intense hatred. "I want to destroy her reputation."

"Understood. I'll arrange it immediately. Within three days, she will be an infamous, scandalous woman known to everyone."

Flick beat his chest, sounding confident. As a Washington State Senator and a rising political star, it should be simple to smear someone's name.

He had heard of Diana—the famous "Cold Rose" of the museum. She never attended parties or made friends. One wealthy second-generation man chased her for three years, and the total number of words she spoke to him was less than twenty before he gave up.

That woman was the Master's friend, yet the Master wanted to destroy her reputation?

The doubt flashed through his mind, then was immediately discarded. As a servant, he only needed to obey his Master's command; nothing else mattered.

However, the subsequent events were a taste of despair. The video smear campaign against Diana was instantly blocked. Police showed up before the article could even be published. The thugs he sent to cause trouble were brutally beaten, their left legs broken by the local gang, and they were nearly thrown into the sea to feed the fish.

The string of incidents sent a chilling realization down Flick's spine.

One incident could be called an accident, but back-to-back incidents were the inevitable result of preparation.

That woman named Diana Prince had an exceptionally powerful force behind her. Perhaps they had already noticed him and were just observing or evaluating how best to deal with him.

Flick couldn't stand it any longer. He immediately went to his Master, recounting his experiences from the past two days and his conjectures in full detail.

"So, you failed again."

The cold words echoed in his ear. Flick's heart sank. Just as he was about to explain, a sharp whoosh sounded in his ear.

Pffft!

Blood sprayed. His head, like a ripe watermelon, was crushed into a bloody mess with one swift blow.

Barbara stormed out of the villa and ran toward the farm, roaring loudly at the surroundings.

"Come out, Diana! I know you're here! I've been waiting for you for a long time!"

"Hurry up! Don't make me look down on you!"

"Is the great Wonder Woman going to be a coward?"

"Aren't you fearless? Why won't you show your face?"

"Don't hide in the shadows! Come out!"

Diana's Restraint

Several kilometers away, inside a truck, Diana sat by a computer, watching her former friend scream and shout with a blank expression.

Wang Hu, the East Coast Branch President of the Hongmen and the man responsible for dealing with Flick, stood beside her. In the past two years, Boss Shaw had toned down his romantic life, keeping only three partners: Linda, Carol Ferris, and Diana.

The first two were clear—one was his childhood sweetheart, and the other was a battle-hardened Kryptonian girl. Only Diana, whom he had never met, was a mystery.

However, Wang Hu vaguely suspected something. If he wasn't mistaken, she was the Wonder Woman, one of the six superheroes.

Boss Shaw is Boss Shaw. He is unconventional in everything he does.

Other men chose the easiest targets. He, however, chose the hardest. Weren't singers, models, and actresses desirable? They were all gentle and compliant, doing whatever he asked. Unlike these three, who were like human-shaped Tyrannosauruses. A single misstep could result in a fractured corpus cavernosum.

What was Boss Shaw thinking?

As a muscle-bound man, Wang Hu couldn't understand that kind of preference. He liked to conquer others with his powerful arms and hated being dominated.

"Sister-in-law, what should we do? If you can't bring yourself to do it, I can..."

"No need."

Diana shook her head. "Withdraw all the equipment. This matter ends here."

Wang Hu was stunned and couldn't help but say,

"Are you serious? That woman is plotting against you, trying to ruin your reputation! Even if you can tolerate it, we can't! Otherwise, we won't be able to explain it to the Boss."

"I will explain it to Luke. Don't worry, he won't blame any of you for this."

Since she insisted, Wang Hu had no choice. He took out his communicator and ordered the brothers surrounding the area to leave.

Figures darted through the woods. The Hongmen Death Guards, wearing power armor, quickly retreated, vanishing without a trace in the blink of an eye.

Barbara was unaware of this. She continued to roar at the air, venting her dissatisfaction and malice.

Diana watched her quietly, listening silently, her expression indifferent. No one knew what she was thinking.
