Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Deceitful Comet

Half a year.

This was the time it took Moro to master Nen.

In terms of skill, visible aura, and even latent aura...

Moro was far inferior to the veterans opposite him, and what was worse, he lacked combat experience with Nen.

He —

Essentially had no aspirations.

If he had to say, it was simply to live well, eat well, and sleep well.

So he never proactively caused trouble, merely earning money to repay Molina while quietly honing his Nen abilities.

As for combat, he had fought Saixin a few times as an Enhancer.

But those were, at best, minor skirmishes.

Now, at a life-or-death juncture, would he regret not spending more time honing his strength?

Moro had no regrets, or rather, he had no spare thoughts to consider such things.

He only knew... that he must now rely on his own Nen abilities to find a sliver of hope in an almost certain death situation.

But before he could use his Nen, he needed to create an opening —

During the brief silence, Moro's mind raced.

Chrollo had stopped Phinks out of curiosity, but Moro didn't believe Chrollo would patiently wait for his answer.

After all, Pakunoda had memory-reading abilities; all his secret information could be extracted after he was captured alive.

Moreover, even if he directly stated Chrollo's Nen ability name, along with its vows and restrictions, it probably wouldn't break Chrollo's concentration.

So, how should he utilize this limited opportunity to "speak"?

What words could directly strike the hearts and minds of these individuals opposite him?

In the face of a life-or-death crisis, Moro's brain cells burned fiercely.

Then a name naturally surfaced —

Sarasa.

The owner of this name was the very catalyst for the formation of the Phantom Troupe, and a thorn in the side of Chrollo and the others.

"Sarasa."

Without any hesitation, Moro loudly uttered the name that had long been buried deep within Chrollo, Pakunoda, and Shalnark's hearts.

The street, the wind and rain.

A name that absolutely shouldn't have appeared at this moment, spread in a tumultuous, surging manner, forcefully shaking the minds of Chrollo, Pakunoda, and Shalnark.

Why would this young man know Sarasa's name?

Just as their doubts began to sprout, Moro made his move.

"Deceitful Comet"

Moro held his hands level, and in each palm, he condensed an egg-sized, fluorescent green Nen bullet.

Immediately, the fluorescent green Nen bullets shot from his palms, flying directly towards the somewhat distracted Pakunoda and Shalnark.

A direct hit on their weakness!

The fluorescent green Nen bullets arrived before Pakunoda and Shalnark in an instant.

However, Phinks, who was completely unaffected by the name Sarasa, pushed Shalnark, who was closest to him, at the last moment, allowing him to dodge the incoming Nen bullet.

Almost simultaneously, Chrollo, with his extraordinary composure, steadied his mind at the last second and promptly reached out to pull Pakunoda away.

The two fluorescent green Nen bullets immediately missed their targets.

Meanwhile.

Moro was sprinting frantically towards one side of the sidewalk.

The person guarding the back door...

Judging by the surging, violent killing intent, it was undoubtedly a special attack member of the Phantom Troupe.

So, before that person revealed themselves, Moro would absolutely not go in that direction.

His only escape routes were the two sides of the sidewalk!

He quickly glanced back at Chrollo's group.

Deceitful Comet missed...

Ultimately, it was because his "Emmission" was not proficient enough to release the ability faster.

But it couldn't be denied that in this brief minute of interaction, Moro had truly recognized Chrollo's exceptional qualities.

Most of these named characters in the original work were not to be trifled with.

Moro withdrew his gaze; although Deceitful Comet missed, he felt no disappointment.

His Deceitful Comet had a second stage...

"My apologies."

On the empty street, Shalnark regained his composure, his brow slightly furrowed.

Phinks looked at Shalnark somewhat strangely, then immediately turned his gaze to Moro, who was sprinting in the rain, and gave chase.

Chrollo's eyes were icy; he flashed past Phinks in an instant, his figure cutting through layers of rain and mist, pursuing Moro.

Shalnark and Pakunoda then steadied their minds.

Doubts still lingered, but as long as Moro was captured alive, all questions would be answered.

They followed closely behind.

Up ahead.

Moro glanced back again at Chrollo and the others who were directly pursuing him.

"Almost time..."

Calculating the time in his mind, Moro raised his right hand, ready to receive the returning comet.

His Deceitful Comet ability was a complex Emission-Manipulation type, with an attack range of only one hundred meters.

When the comet reached its maximum range, it would freeze in mid-air and remain stagnant for 1 to 5 seconds.

Moro could set the specific stagnation time before releasing the comet.

When the set stagnation time ended, the comet's power, firing speed, and size would all be doubled, and then it would reverse course, guiding itself back towards Moro in a target-seeking trajectory.

The doubled power effect of the second-stage extension was precisely the vow effect of this ability.

The accompanying restriction was —

The returning comet would also cause damage to Moro.

In other words, if nothing else blocked the comet, Moro would have to find a way to avoid it, or endure the impact.

The reason Moro set up such a restriction was the tree rings on the back of his right hand.

Under the cover of the tree rings, his entire hand-back was as hard as a basalt shell...

Therefore, he could use the back of his hand to block the returning comet.

Calculating the time perfectly, Moro adjusted his stance without warning.

Amidst the incessant sound of wind and rain, two faint sounds abruptly rang out.

Immediately after, two deep, fluorescent green lights pierced through the rainy night, carrying a dangerous aura as they flew towards Pakunoda and Shalnark.

The incident was sudden, and because Chrollo and Phinks were chasing ahead, this time, Pakunoda and Shalnark received no assistance.

When the doubled-power comet struck, Shalnark barely reacted, managing to slightly turn his body sideways.

The comet struck his waist and abdomen, instantly blasting away a large chunk of flesh, making it look as if he had been bitten by a gaping maw.

Pakunoda was a beat too slow.

As blood splattered, her face twitched, her upper body was directly blasted with a bloody hole by the comet, and her instantly depleted body suddenly collapsed onto the ground in front of her.

The sudden turn of events caused Chrollo and Phinks's pursuit rhythm to falter.

Moro, seeing his success, gathered more than half of his visible aura into his legs at the fastest speed, continuing to sprint forward.

Do your best, and leave the rest to fate.

He had done everything he could —

If he still couldn't escape, then he would accept his fate.

Just as he thought this, a residual image of a face suddenly flashed in his peripheral vision; he could faintly discern a sinister expression, and a boiling fury in its eyes.

Feitan?!

As the thought arose, Moro felt a chill on his nose bridge, and then his consciousness, like a guitar string about to snap, was stripped of all sensation at a seemingly slow but actually rapid pace.

In his final moments, a self-question arose in Moro's mind.

Am I... dead?

Coldness, trembling.

Moro suddenly opened his eyes, and what met his gaze were vertical rusty iron bars.

It seemed to be an iron cage.

"This is...?"

Moro recognized his surroundings and was startled.

The sensation of life ending still lingered, but it was quickly replaced by other memories.

He had returned to the moment he first transmigrated one year ago!
