That morning, after my shower, I sat on the edge of the bed with a towel wrapped around my hair, scrolling through my phone. I was still deciding what to wear when my screen lit up.

Livia. Camille. Maya.
I blinked momentarily, then laughed softly. "Of course," I muttered, and tapped accept.
Their faces filled the screen almost at once.
"Oh my God," Camille said immediately. "She lives."
"Look at her," Livia added. "Alive and breathing."
Maya leaned closer to her camera. "Serena Blackwood, you've been ignoring us."
"I haven't," I said. "I've just been… busy."
"That's a lie," Camille said. "Busy doing what? Brooding?"
I rolled my eyes. "Good morning to you too."
Livia smiled gently. "How are you really?"
I paused for half a second. "I'm okay."
Maya snorted. "That pause was loud."
