From a small, standalone courtyard within the Uchiha Clan's territory, Uchiha Kai stepped out, wearing a Konoha ninja forehead protector and a combat uniform emblazoned with the Uchiha crest.
"Good morning, Lord Kai."
"Good morning, Captain Kai."
The Uchiha clan members greeted him with respect. Although only nineteen, age mattered little in this world—strength commanded respect.
The Uchiha were proud, but they respected the strong, especially those of their own clan.
Nineteen years after transmigrating into this world, relying on his superior talent, Kai had become the Uchiha clan's foremost expert.
"Does a time traveler like me really have no golden finger?" he thought, walking toward the training grounds.
With his near-Kage-level strength, Kai was indeed considered the top fighter in the clan and one of Konoha's elite. Few in the village could surpass him.

The current clan leader intended to pass the position to Uchiha Fugaku, but many within the clan disagreed. Most considered Kai stronger and more suitable. In the Uchiha clan, strength determined respect.
"When did I ever say I wanted to be clan leader?"
As a time traveler, Kai knew the clan was a mess—a thorn in the side of Sarutobi Hiruzen and Danzo.
Relations with other Konoha clans were poor; the Uchiha had no friends, only enemies. The position of clan leader was thankless, and Kai had little interest in it.
"Only by becoming clan leader can we lead the Uchiha to the top," Sota said passionately.
Kai glanced at him, thinking: You overestimate me. To the top? I might not even prevent the future Uchiha extermination…

The mechanical sound made Kai's expression change.
"This is definitely not an illusion. Even Kage-level experts couldn't hide an illusion from me."

He ignored Sota's talk of the clan leader and immediately returned home using the Body Flicker Technique.

Strapping the sword to his back, Kai headed toward the Konoha Guard. In addition to being an elite ninja, he was also the deputy captain.

Kai was deputy captain; Fugaku was captain. Originally, Kai should have held the captain position, but Fugaku's father, the clan leader, placed him above Kai.
Their relationship, while not openly hostile, was fraught with tension. The largest conflict? The position of clan leader. Though Kai had never considered it, Fugaku already saw him as a rival.
