Chapter 22 - 22

A bright moon hung outside the window. Gwen had just finished washing up and was drying her hair with a towel.

Gwen raised her hand, brushed her slightly damp golden long hair, and wrapped the absorbent towel around her head.

Her increasingly attractive figure was hidden beneath her loose pajamas.

She moved her long legs to the bedside and sat down, her graceful body finally revealed beneath her taut pajamas.

Gwen picked up her phone, and the light from the screen illuminated her beautiful face, still slightly flushed from her shower.

Gwen looked at the unanswered message and couldn't help but pout her pretty little mouth.

"That stinky Meng Ran, he's not replying to my messages," Gwen grumbled, puffing out her cheeks, then tapped the bed with her small fist, treating it as a certain big pig's trotters to vent her dissatisfaction.

"Ding-a-ling!" As if knowing Gwen was unhappy, Meng Ran's message coincidentally arrived.

"Sorry! I was busy just now and only just had time to check my phone. Please forgive me! (Looking pitiful)"

Looking at the message from Meng Ran, Gwen didn't even realize that the corners of her mouth had already curved slightly upwards.

"Hmph! I'm already angry! (Pouting)"

"Ah! Then my newly made chili sauce won't be tasted by a certain cute little beauty, how sad (crying)"

"Emmmmm, well, seeing as you're so pitiful, I'll reluctantly taste it again then (Tsundere)"

"Alright! Hehe, Gwen is the best (like) (heart hands)"

"Hehe~" Gwen happily rolled around on the bed.

Chatting with Meng Ran always made her happy. Sometimes, Gwen would wish things could always be this way.

Gwen hugged her quilt, and as she thought, her face flushed with shyness. Then, embarrassed, she buried her head in the quilt, her fair and cute little feet 翹 up, swaying in the air.

On the roof of Gwen's house, Meng Ran was lying there, looking up at the starry sky, occasionally replying to Gwen's messages on his phone.

The young face beneath that terrifying mask was already filled with a sweet smile.

Under the gentle caress of the bright moonlight, and the illumination of the twinkling stars.

A young couple was adding a pink cloud to this sky with their mutual affection.

Meng Ran chatted with Gwen like this until she fell into a deep sleep.

Once he confirmed that Gwen was sound asleep, Meng Ran separated some of the Venom from his body, taking his consciousness with it, and stealthily moved towards Gwen's room.

The Venom seeped through the window crack and landed on the floor beneath the windowsill.

Meng Ran directed the Venom to crawl towards the sleeping figure on the bed.

The Venom climbed up from the foot of the bed. Meng Ran looked at her sweet and serene sleeping face, and a surge of sweetness, along with guilt, welled up in his heart.

The Venom seeped into Gwen's hand, which was exposed from under the quilt, and began its replication.

Meanwhile, Meng Ran began to weave a sweet and beautiful dream for Gwen.

Before long, the Venom, along with Meng Ran, left Gwen's body.

On the rooftop, the Venom seeped into Meng Ran's arm.

Meng Ran also quietly left the rooftop.

Gwen, lying in bed, didn't notice anything. She just slowly curved her lips, revealing a happy smile; this dream was very, very sweet.

In the dream, Gwen and Meng Ran fell in love, then got married, and they lived happily ever after, even having a pair of adorable twins who loved to eat chili sauce since they were little.

The running Meng Ran stopped on a rooftop, sat down cross-legged, and calmed his mind.

"Congratulations, host, for acquiring new abilities!"

"Acquired Superhuman Strength! (Strength greatly increased.)"

"Acquired Superhuman Physique! (Physical fitness greatly improved.)"

"Acquired Superhuman Reflexes, Ghost Warning! (Danger premonition, super reflexes.)"

"Acquired Bio-electricity Adhesion! (Can cling to buildings at various angles.)"

"Acquired Ghost Stealth! (Melds into the existing scene, making it undetectable, but requires maintaining stillness or slow movement.)"

After Meng Ran calmed his mind, the continuous voices in his head reported the new abilities he had acquired.

There were also constant warm currents flowing into his limbs and bones, and his physical fitness was greatly improving.

Meng Ran felt the changes in his strength, and a wave of tenderness and guilt resurfaced in his heart.

"Sigh~ It was you after all, Gwen."

"What should I do now?" Meng Ran's face was bitter, without any joy from acquiring new abilities.

The scene of his confrontation with Gwen that night kept playing automatically in his mind.

At the time, recalling it, he was smug, thinking he was so cool.

Not only did he put on a good act, but he was also loyal to Gwen; he wouldn't show mercy to even the most beautiful and alluring wild flowers.

He was practically the epitome of a good man, having inherited the true teachings of his father, Meng Huo.

Now, thinking about it, there was no joy left; he was simply a big idiot, the kind beyond saving.

"Oh no! Why did I even lay a hand on her?"

"I even slammed her against the wall, choked her, and threatened her."

Meng Ran held his head, trying not to think about that scene, but his mind wouldn't obey, constantly looping that segment of "great achievements."

On the rooftop, Meng Ran covered his face, disheveled in the wind. Finally, after half a day, he pulled out another bottle of calming potion and chugged it down.

He had already drunk two bottles in one day.

After forcing himself to calm down, he began a sober analysis.

"Since things have come to this, I can only think of a solution."

Meng Ran sat on the rooftop, his legs dangling over the edge, arms crossed, deep in thought.

After a while, he patted his head and said, "Alright, I'll do it this way."

With a plan in mind, Meng Ran stopped thinking about it. Now he could turn his attention to testing the abilities he had just gained.

Speaking of which, Meng Ran still didn't know when Gwen had acquired these abilities.

Were they innate, or were they, like Spider-Man in the movies, a mutation after being bitten by a spider?

Meng Ran estimated it was probably the latter, that these abilities were acquired after a mutation, because after their skirmish a few days ago, he noticed that Gwen couldn't control her strength with ease during combat.

She didn't use her strength very well; she had powerful abilities but couldn't utilize them effectively.

After dispelling his jumbled thoughts, Meng Ran decided to test his new abilities one by one.

First were strength and physical fitness. Meng Ran found a nearby construction site.

He first found a five-ton truck.

He tried to lift it with his strength, and Meng Ran was able to lift it without much difficulty.

Finally, Meng Ran tried a few more, ultimately determining that his maximum lifting strength should be around eight tons.

A full-force punch should be able to smash a stone as large as a millstone, and if it were twice as big, he could crack it, breaking it into several pieces.

(Here, let me clarify, it's not that the heavier an object you can lift, the more force you can deliver in a punch; generally, lifting strength is much greater than punching power.)

Meng Ran was very satisfied with this result. His current physical fitness should be five times that of Captain America, especially in terms of strength.

Meng Ran also had many other abilities. Overall, Meng Ran could now be considered a very strong superhero. Currently, perhaps only Hulk's physical fitness could be stronger than Meng Ran's.

Next came comprehensive physical attributes like speed and endurance.

Meng Ran conducted further tests and concluded that all his abilities had seen a significant improvement.

The remaining new abilities were bio-electricity, Ghost Stealth, and Ghost Warning.

Ghost Warning couldn't be tested by himself. Currently, only bio-electricity and stealth could be tested.

Meng Ran ran back to the base of the building he was at earlier.

He placed his hand on the wall, and immediately his body began to adjust itself.

Meng Ran then placed his feet on the wall as well, and now his entire body was adhered to the wall.

Meng Ran climbed upwards, gradually getting used to this new ability.

With this ability, he would be able to move across walls at any angle as if on flat ground.

Before, he didn't really climb walls because he would have to damage the wall to do so, otherwise he'd have no foothold.

Now it was much more convenient; he could also run on walls like Spider-Man in the movies.

Next was Ghost Stealth.

Meng Ran planned to test this ability in a crowded place.

This ability was an assassination technique; it was what Gwen used before to make Meng Ran unable to detect her.

If Gwen hadn't revealed herself, Meng Ran might not have found her even if he had walked back and forth there several times.

Meng Ran found the entrance to a nightclub. He crouched just above the doorway.

Below him, people came and went, young men and women queuing to enter.

There were also a few bodyguards in suits and sunglasses, standing at the entrance like door gods.

Meng Ran had already activated stealth. He slowly moved downwards.

The situation was reflected in the glass of the shop directly opposite him.

It could be seen that the spot where Meng Ran was located also reflected nothing in the glass.

He had perfectly blended into the environment.

Meng Ran had moved down to behind the bodyguard, crouching on the wall.

Now, if Meng Ran wished, he could reach out and snap the bodyguard's neck.

No one would notice him if he made small movements, even if he stood right in front of them.

After the experiment, Meng Ran quietly left the area.

This possession had given him his first major upgrade since acquiring Venom.

Next, he would go familiarize himself with it in actual combat.
