Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Before the Cloud shinobi arrived, Minato decided to stick to the original plan—teach Shinju advanced ninjutsu.

Rasengan and Hiraishin no Jutsu (Flying Thunder God Technique): one A-rank, the other S-rank. For now, they would start with Rasengan.

Minato's initial roadmap was to spend about a year mastering the Rasengan, then—after stabilizing it for a few years (or more)—begin the S-rank space–time ninjutsu Hiraishin.

It was a plan that fit a natural growth curve.

That plan was overturned on day one.

"Shinju, watch closely."

At the center of the training field, Minato extended his right hand.

Chakra gathered in his palm, spinning at high speed until it shaped into a stable, perfect blue sphere.

"This is the Rasengan. I took inspiration from the Bijudama (Tailed Beast Bomb) and developed this seal-less technique over three years. Its core is pushing chakra shape transformation to the limit."

He outlined the Rasengan's three training stages:

Stage one, Rotation: make the chakra spin chaotically inside a water balloon until it bursts.

Stage two, Power: add explosive force to burst a tougher rubber ball.

Stage three, Sustain: combine rotation and power into a stable, continuous chakra sphere in the palm.

"This demands exceptional control and a large chakra reserve. Don't rush; we'll take it step by step," Minato said gently.

Shinju nodded and picked up a water balloon.

He closed his eyes and felt the oceanic chakra within.

The Uzumaki Sen'nin-tai (Uzumaki Sage Body) gave him not only vast reserves, but instinctive, absolute control—like moving an arm.

He fed chakra into the water balloon…

Then, following Minato's guidance, began the spin.

The first try failed—the rotation was too fierce and blew straight through the balloon.

The second failed too—the spin was too uniform, not the required chaotic turbulence.

Minato watched patiently. He knew this wall was the hardest for any beginner; back then he'd been stuck here for a long time himself.

On only the tenth attempt—

Pop.

The balloon burst inward without warning.

Minato's smile froze.

That… fast?

"Father," Shinju opened his eyes and looked over. "Is this correct?"

Minato blinked, then answered after several seconds. "…Yes. Exactly. Well done, Shinju. I knew you were gifted, but your talent… exceeds what I imagined. On to stage two."

He handed over the rubber ball.

It took less than half an hour.

Bang!

The rubber ball burst from the inside the same way.

Minato's expression slid from surprise to sheer stupefaction.

Staring at his eldest, he felt his worldview refresh again and again.

"Father," Shinju turned the split rubber in his fingers, thoughtful. "The Rasengan's principle is simple. What's difficult is controlling shape and qualitative change."

He looked up, voice calm—merely stating fact.

"And my chakra seems… inexhaustible."

Inexhaustible…

How extravagant—and domineering.

But Minato knew he wasn't boasting.

Even after a full day of expenditure, Shinju's chakra hadn't decreased; if anything, it was slowly—and steadily—growing.

So this… was the terror of the Uzumaki Sen'nin-tai.

"Good… good…" Minato drew a long breath, pressing down his shock. "Stage three. Combine spin and power into a stable sphere."

This was the hardest phase.

It required split focus—precise dual chakra control at the limit.

Surely this time Shinju would need longer…

He still underestimated what "monster" meant.

Shinju extended his right hand and closed his eyes.

Vast chakra swelled into his palm.

Spin.

Compress.

Sustain.

A blue sphere swelled into being in his hand from nothing.

At first it flickered like a light about to die—unstable, wavering.

But with each passing moment it grew denser, more stable.

The rotation climbed faster—faster.

At last, a perfect Rasengan—identical in size to Minato's, radiating steady light and deadly force—bloomed in Shinju's palm.

From first lesson to mastery—

One day.

Minato looked at the Rasengan in Shinju's hand, then at his son's placid face, as if he'd merely done a small chore.

With both pride and a "jealous" sigh, he murmured:

"Our Namikaze are about to produce a pair of brothers who'll surpass me."

On the other side of the yard, Kushina patiently taught Naruto how to sense and refine chakra.

Naruto, though small, showed remarkable talent. He stared at the pretty blue sphere in his brother's palm with open-mouthed awe.

Kushina looked at her two boys—one monstrously unreasonable, the other innately gifted—and her smile brimmed with pride and happiness.

This was her home.

The warm, hopeful scene broke with a sudden arrival.

An Anbu flickered into the field and dropped to one knee.

"Lord Minato."

Minato let the smile fade. "Report."

"The Kumogakure delegation has reached the village gate," the Anbu said, voice heavy.

"Their leader is arrogant. He says that besides paying respects to the acting Hokage, he also insists on visiting 'Konoha's foremost clan'—the Hyuga."

Kumogakure.

Hyuga.

At those two names, Minato's and Kushina's eyes went cold in unison.

They'd expected as much—but expectation didn't blunt the sting.

Kushina's temper spiked. "Those bastards! Fresh off a war and still that cocky! Naming the Hyuga? What are they after?!"

Minato patted her shoulder to soothe her.

He glanced to the Anbu. "What does Teacher Sarutobi say?"

"Lord Third advises receiving them courteously first, to see what they intend," the Anbu replied.

"Courteously?" Kushina snorted. "When wolves are at the door, the only welcome is an iron fist."

Minato fell silent.

Sarutobi Hiruzen's stance was the Hokage's—stability above all.

But Minato was no longer Hokage.

He was a father.

And he would allow no threat, potential or otherwise, to touch his family or the village that had just regained peace.

As he weighed his response—

Shinju let the Rasengan dissipate, stepped forward, and met Minato's eyes.

Calmly, he said:

"Father, the Cloud aren't exactly honest."

"Especially when it comes to their… interest in the Byakugan."
