Chapter 24 - The Sleeping Hero

At Guild headquarters, Guild Master Roland tapped his desk with a frown.

"That boy… Pramit. Something about him feels off. He's either a fool or hiding something."

Lyria stood beside him, still confused.

"He really doesn't seem like someone with power, sir. He's just… lazy. He slept through the entire attack!"

Roland smirked.

"Then we'll test that. You'll keep an eye on him — quietly. If he hides something, we'll find out."

Lyria sighed but nodded.

"Understood…"

Later that day, she returned to the rented house where Pramit was still asleep.

"You're unbelievable," she muttered, shaking him gently. "You slept all morning again?"

Pramit half-opened one eye.

"Mmm… if the world's not ending, let me sleep five more minutes."

Lyria crossed her arms.

"You said that two hours ago."

Suddenly, a loud crash echoed outside — two rookie adventurers fighting over a potion bottle. The ground trembled a bit.

Pramit groaned, turning to the other side.

"So noisy… they're worse than thunder…"

At that exact moment, a faint spark of lightning crackled from his hand, shot out the window, and hit a wooden sign — scaring the rookies into silence.

Lyria froze, eyes wide.

"Did you just—?"

Pramit snored.

Smoke drifted from the window. Lyria blinked twice and whispered,

"...It must've been static… yeah, static…"

But deep down, she knew something strange was happening around him.

Later, at night, she reported to the Guild through a communication orb.

"No clear evidence, Guild Master… but strange things happen when he's sleeping."

Roland raised an eyebrow.

"Sleeping?"

"Yes. Sleeping."

He sighed heavily.

"This is either the dumbest cover story I've ever heard… or the smartest."

Meanwhile, Pramit rolled in bed, mumbling,

"So warm… monsters gone… food later…"

And unknowingly, a soft barrier of earth and fire magic surrounded the house, protecting it from wild beasts that had wandered near.

The Guild called him suspicious. The townsfolk called him lucky. And Lyria? She started calling him… the Sleeping Disaster.

The town was in chaos — but not the dangerous kind. Everywhere, people shouted, laughed, and praised a hero no one had seen. The monster horde had vanished overnight, the town walls were repaired, and even the crops outside the gate looked strangely greener.

"Someone must've used an advanced sealing spell!" a mage yelled."No, it was holy fire! The gods blessed us!" shouted another.

In the guild hall, Lyria slammed her fist on the table."Whoever did this, I will find out! That magic signature was familiar… too familiar."

The guild master rubbed his chin. "Hmm… perhaps that sleepy boy?"

Lyria frowned. "Pramit? He can barely stay awake long enough to eat!"

Cut to Pramit — lying face-down in bed, snoring softly, one hand dangling off the side. Each time he turned in his sleep, faint sparks of earth and fire magic shimmered around him — repairing cracks in the nearby wall, drying the wet floor, and even heating up his breakfast pot.

Outside, the townspeople gathered near the square, lighting candles and offering thanks to the "Mystery Savior."

"May the Sleeping Guardian watch over us again!" someone prayed loudly.

Pramit's brow twitched. He mumbled in his sleep,"Too noisy… five more minutes…"

The guild master suddenly announced, "Tomorrow, we will hold a Hero Celebration!"

And while the town prepared banners and music, the real "hero" turned over, pulled a blanket over his head, and continued snoring.
