Tonia's POV
The office door swung open abruptly, cutting through our tense conversation.
Kermit stepped inside with his two assistants trailing behind him.
The woman beside me immediately retreated several paces, her composure faltering when his piercing gaze settled on her.
"Everything alright here?" His eyes shifted between us, sharp and calculating.
Part of me wanted to expose whatever relationship existed between him and this woman, but I held my tongue.
"We were simply discussing business matters," she replied, her voice arctic as she glared at me. "Our conversation has concluded."
Without another word, she brushed past us and disappeared through the doorway. I exhaled slowly, relieved to see that particular complication leave.
But the temperature in the room seemed to spike when Kermit focused those intense eyes on me.
"Come with me." He jerked his head toward the staircase.
My pulse quickened as I followed him up to what appeared to be a private office.
