Tonia's POV
For the past two days, I had been dodging Kermit like he carried some contagious disease. From what I could tell, he was doing exactly the same thing.
Sure, we had been together before in the most intimate way possible. But that was five years in the past when I was someone completely different, right before he walked away and left me shattered.
My body belonged to me now. He couldn't just feast his eyes on it whenever the mood struck him.
"Congratulations, aunty," Bruce chirped with that adorable grin of his while I gently worked my fingers through his sister's hair as she lay across the bed.
"What are you congratulating me for, sweetheart?"
"Tomorrow's mating ceremony, obviously. We already know you're going to be daddy's Luna," Rosalyn chimed in with certainty.
Right. "Thank you both."
The truth was, anxiety had been eating at me about the whole thing. Tomorrow, Kermit and I would finally be bound as mates, only to have that bond severed after twelve months.
