Prologue - Where It All Begins

CHAPTER 0 - Prologue

"What do you think, Rhea?" Jude Axion, CEO of Axion Corp, didn't turn from the immense panoramic window, the neon chaos of the city below reflecting dimly on the glass. He barely glanced back at his secretary as he spoke.

"About what, Master?" Rhea was a fairly mature woman, most likely in her twenties, with long black hair tied into a bun and glasses that sat firmly on her nose bridge. She was tightly held by her blouse and the straight skirt she wore, her secretary uniform.

Jude's eyes slowly drifted from the city below to the mysterious source of glow in the room, the green gem that pulsed ever so softly within its container. "Dr Izabel and her hypothesis of the gem being alive." This man, who can be counted as one of the wealthiest in this city, holds both fame, power, and the resources to back it up. He is a true scientist through, but his words at this moment lacked the vigour that a scientist should have.

"Why are you asking me, when you already know the answer, Master Jude?" Rhea questioned back sarcastically. Their way of addressing each other lacked the respect that a secretary would have to her boss, nor the respect that a title of "Master" would garner.

"Haha. As typical of you, Rhea. You call me Master, but you never did respect me as such. I guess that's the privilege of being the childhood friend of this genius." Jude was fairly arrogant, and it was deservedly so.

"Alive?" Jude finally turned, a while smirk filled with pride played on his lips. "Of course it's alive. I've known from the start. Chaos. The zeal. Innovations. That's what I need. Humanity's future? It'll only stay as a future for those who don't dream big!" Jude stood up from his chair, his hands spread apart, the neon light of the streets below barely reflecting on the glass of the window.

"Sigh. You're really prideful, Master. What's your end goal?" Rhea questioned, barely phased by the statement that Jude had just said.

"The world is such a huge sandbox waiting to be claimed, Rhea. And if no one's willing to, then I shall gladly do so. But there's no fun in such a dull world, so make it chaotic, make it dangerous, and break the silence that has clouded it for so long!"

"At least, make me want to try to claim the world," Jude's voice became narrowly deep, the green gem in the glass container flickering a bit before dying down.

"See? It agrees." A dangerous smile. An unsettling grin settled upon his face.
