Chapter 497 - Chapter 455: Stryker Wants Hawk

Once more!

Hawk had no particular liking for Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X, but he equally harbored no prejudice.

Same old story.

None of his business.

Just like he initially took a cold, detached view of the conflict between mutants and humans here.

He came here to find his daughter, not to help the mutants or humans solve their troubles here.

Put aside the hero syndrome, respect other people's destinies.

That's how Hawk felt, and that's how he initially acted.

But...

The desire to stop, yet the wind won't cease.

The way the Sentinel Special Service Bureau was gearing up, it was clearly aiming for total extermination.

The disorderly corpses in the sewer, and over by the escape route, the ceaseless angry shouts as mutant guards were killed.

How can intact eggs exist under a toppled nest?

Once the Sentinel Special Service Bureau wipes out all the mutant guards and rushes in here, will they pretend not to see him and Wanda and let them leave?

The answer is no.

So...

Face it head-on.

Whoever's scared is a cowardly dog!

Boom!

In the moment Hawk disappeared from the vision of the two mutant guards at the air-raid shelter's iron door, he arrived at the wall adjacent to the escape route, and without pausing his stride, collided with the wall of steel-concrete as if it were fragile tofu.

The next second.

Gunfire.

Metal clashing sounds.

Screams.

Gasps.

Ringing in his ears.

The ones screaming and gasping had been the mutant guards, but in the blink of an eye turned into the Sentinels trying to tunnel through the escape route.

Initially, these Sentinels had icy stares, killing mutants like livestock, without a shred of emotion, cold like machines born for slaughter.

Yet as their screams began, they seemed to transform from cold slaughtering machines into pigs and dogs awaiting slaughter.

As for the mutant guards valiantly resisting despite the gunfire?

Their expressions mirrored those of their fellow guards at the air-raid shelter door; shock-stricken, watching Hawk charge into the Sentinels like a divine spirit slaughtering those sentinels like livestock.

In the blink of an eye, all of the Sentinels attempting to enter the air-raid shelter via the escape route were annihilated.

The next second.

Hawk raised his eyes toward the iron door leading up the stairs to the surface, seemingly locked from the outside at the moment.

"Boom!"

"Snap!"

The iron door shattered on cue, and the two Sentinels standing on guard with guns pointed at the iron door leading out of the escape route flinched at the sound of the blast, watching with eyes widened as the door hurled toward them.

Before they could react, with a slap, the door plastered over them, instantly smashing them into pulp.

Naked above the waist, stained with Sentinel blood, clad in suit pants and leather shoes, Hawk stood floating above after exiting the iron door, eyes cold, as a Demon God overseeing all below.

Two unmarked armored transport vehicles, Sentinels sealing the nearby blocks, and over thirty Sentinels noticing something amiss below, readying themselves to switch roles as reinforcement.

His extraordinary energy stalled, likely due to this Cosmos being a trap or simply too low-end, rendering his Little Cosmos energy blocked from projecting here.

But...

Same old story.

While this Cosmos might suppress his extraordinary abilities, it cannot suppress nor modify his life level.

Everyone knows.

Saint Warriors train both physically and spiritually, advancing in parallel.

Hawk's body remained of Celestial God caliber, only short of insight into the Eighth Sense of Life to transform his body into that of a Main God.

So what if he couldn't harness the Little Cosmos power for now?

He is a god!

Flying, is basic skill.

As Hawk gazed at the multitude of Sentinels below, they too took notice of Hawk, standing tall and blood-drenched, exuding a Demon God's aura.

Their pupils contracted.

"Gasp!"

"Is the X Ability Inhibitor down?"

"Impossible, the X Ability Inhibitor is functioning properly."

"Then what's up with this bastard?"

"Open fire, open fire!"

"Rattle-rattle-rattle!"

"Rattle-rattle-rattle!"

"Ding-ding-ding!"

"Clang-clang-clang!"

The dense bullets once more fired like a storm, relentlessly striking Hawk's bare upper body and head, sparking flares everywhere and ringing metallic clinking sounds.

Hawk remained expressionless, looking down at the bullets colliding with his body, then dropping softly downward, before his gaze landed on the firing Sentinels below, his lips curling slightly.

The next second.

He vanished mid-air, reappearing instantly amidst the Sentinels.

Then–

Slaughter.

Wails.

Hawk slaughtered.

They wailed.

As Hawk ignored the weapons they had always been proud of using against mutants, rendering them useless, and slaughtered them like pigs and dogs amidst a rain of bullets, the Sentinel agents collapsed.

When the first Sentinel agent dropped his weapon to turn around and tried to escape, the second and third fleeing Sentinel agents appeared.

But...

"Thinking of escaping now?"

"Too late!"

The moment Hawk clenched his right hand, a headless corpse fell beside him. Watching the Sentinel agents who still knew to spread out and try to escape, he sneered and then vanished from the spot.

"Bang!"

"Sir."

In the Sentinel Special Service Bureau building in New York City, a Sentinel agent hurriedly pushed open their commander's office, with an anxious look on his face, glancing at the middle-aged man sitting behind the desk, wearing glasses and with a pair of sinister eyes: "Sir, there's a situation with Group B, there's a suspected mutant immune to our X Ability Inhibitor."

The middle-aged man behind the desk raised his head.

Wherever there are mutants, the perennial villain cannot be bypassed.

William Stryker!

A decade ago, for some reasons, the Federation canceled Bolivar Trask's Sentinel program, and because Bolivar Trask tried to sell the "Sentinel Design" to Russia, he was arrested.

But the abilities of mutants were too powerful, and the Federation remained vigilant towards mutants. It's just that due to the dread of mutants, everything went from the open to behind the scenes.

William Stryker was still ordered to establish a Sentinel Special Service Bureau specifically targeting mutants.

For the past ten years, he diligently captured mutants, then collaborated with certain capital to conduct scientific research, attempting to understand and control the X-gene.

Soon.

William Stryker, along with the Sentinel agent from before, walked into the tactical command center.

At first glance.

The large screen in the tactical command center was displaying footage of the mutant underground community in Queens.

A mess of corpses all over.

Blood flowing on the ground.

And...

Hawk, covered in blood, bare-chested, standing among the corpses like a Demon God descended upon the world.

Standing among the corpses, Hawk seemed to sense something, looking up towards the sky.

At this moment.

Hawk in the big screen seemed to lock eyes with William Stryker.

Eyes meet.

"Overbearing aura..."

"Courting death!"

William Stryker's eyes narrowed.

"Who is he?"

"Searching."

"No match in the Federation database."

"No match in the Europe database."

"Sir..."

The Sentinel in charge of the tactical command center looked at Stryker: "No matching data found."

Stryker frowned.

"How long until the combat helicopters arrive?"

"Ten seconds!"

A Sentinel replied loudly.

Stryker looked at the big screen, seeing the two combat helicopters approaching Hawk's position at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Hawk also saw the two combat helicopters rapidly approaching from the distance.

The next moment.

He sneered, his body suddenly vanished with a boom.

Then—

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

"Boom!"

"Holy shit!"

"Jesus Christ!"

The Sentinels at the command center watched the big screen, where Hawk had disappeared a moment ago. Before they could react, they saw the armed helicopters on the screen that hadn't yet reached the scene explode into fireballs as if pierced by something, then fall towards the lower district with a storm of disbelief.

Boom!

The armed helicopter, now a fireball, crashed onto an apartment on the street below, instantly creating a large crater in the building's outer wall, then continuing its descent to the street below.

In an instant.

The street below plunged into chaos. Fortunately, this was Queens; if it were Manhattan, the crashing helicopters would have taken at least a hundred lives.

Stryker watched the burning helicopters crash onto the street, causing chaos amidst the civilians, and recalled Hawk's image that had instantly pierced the armed helicopters. His eyes bore no shock or fear, instead brimming with the thrill of the chase.

"This mutant is even better than Professor X."

"I want him!"

Colonel Stryker thought to himself, then looked at Hawk on the big screen, who had returned to the ground of the mutant underground community, and took a deep breath.

"Notify Washington headquarters, request strategic support forces."

"Understood."

The Sentinel nodded, quickly connecting to Washington headquarters.

Stryker, having finished speaking, continued to gaze intently with a burning desire at Hawk standing among the corpses, unconcerned, seemingly locking eyes with him on the screen.

"Immune to the X Ability Inhibitor."

"A body comparable to metal."

"Flying?"

"No matter who you are, I will capture you."
