Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Fired Midway, Downfall on the Way!

The next day.

On his way to Osborn Biotechnology by metro for his summer job, Hawk was still thinking about the Gamma Stone he left at the Quantico Military Base.

He had made up his mind.

If he was going to take it by force at Quantico Military Base, there's only one way.

A quick and decisive strike.

No delays.

After all, the place he planned to raid is Quantico Military Base, not just any place.

The Federal Police Academy is over there.

And even the famous Langley Headquarters is there.

To put it bluntly.

Rushing into Quantico is no different than stepping on the heads of the Federation Military, the FBI, and the CIA and taking a dump.

But...

Even if it means pissing on the heads of the military, FBI, and CIA, he had to go.

Gamma Stone.

He was determined to get it.

"But..."

"Forewarned is forearmed, without it, you fail."

"I need to take a trip to Quantico first, scout it out."

"At the very least, conduct a field survey and plan an escape route."

As Hawk thought silently to himself, he swiped his card, walked into the Osborn Biotechnology Industry Building, and headed back to the Bioengineering Department.

Next...

He was called into the supervisor's office.

The future Electro, Max Dillon, was also there.

The middle-aged, balding and seemingly indifferent supervisor looked a bit displeased now. After a moment of silence, he said to Max Dillon, "From today, you will join the maintenance team."

Max Dillon was stunned at these words.

"Supervisor, I..."

"I haven't finished."

The supervisor interrupted Max Dillon, then looked at Hawk and sighed, "Hawk, you're being dismissed, but you can collect this week's salary."

Hawk blinked.

He wasn't as shocked as Max, having already guessed the reason, but he calmly looked at the supervisor.

"Can I ask why?"

"Yesterday's incident in Dr. Connor's lab."

As expected.

Hawk thought to himself.

Next to him, Max hurriedly said, "Supervisor, the power outage has nothing to do with us. Our bioelectricity is supplying the building's daily needs, not the power for various departmental equipment..."

The supervisor rubbed his forehead, "Enough, this isn't a discussion, it's a decision. You go out first, Hawk stays."

Max froze in place, then looked at Hawk.

Hawk shrugged.

"It's okay, Max."

"...Alright."

Max looked at the supervisor, seemed like he wanted to say something, but then opened his mouth, lowered his head, and walked out.

After Max left the office, the supervisor sighed again, looking at Hawk, "I'm sorry, I tried my best to keep Max, but I couldn't keep you. You're quite good, Hawk. If you have any requests, let me know, and I'll try to fulfill them."

Hawk smiled, "It's alright, just help explain things to Lady Snow."

He had come to Osborn Biotechnology solely to find Gammanien, and since he'd found it, his purpose there was complete.

So staying at Osborn Biotechnology was pointless.

But he initially thought of asking for leave, not resigning.

After all, this summer job was given to him as a favor by Lady Snow, who's a kind person and has always taken care of him, so he didn't want her good intentions to go to waste.

Now it was settled.

He didn't even need to ask for leave anymore.

The supervisor felt relieved at hearing Hawk's request and nodded, "Of course, I've just called Selena, it's clear to me, you and that..."

Hawk reminded the frowning supervisor.

"Max."

"Right, Max."

The supervisor's frown relaxed, and he sighed, "It's not your or Max's fault, I know that, but... no choice."

Hawk also shook his head and chuckled.

In fact, as Max said, the bioelectricity department's power was mainly for the building's daily use.

Those electric eels could hardly generate much power in a day.

Let alone all those labs and various high-consumption equipment.

But you can't stop someone from being stupid.

The cause of the incident boiled down to an Osborn executive thinking the bioelectricity department could handle more, resulting in this mess.

Now that things went south, that executive was unwilling to take responsibility.

Mm.

Very bad, but very fitting.

Things were just that simple.

Hawk didn't linger long in the supervisor's office, collected his 800 US Dollars for the week, and casually walked out of the Osborn Biotechnology Industry Building.

"Hawk, wait!"

Just as Hawk was about to cross the street to take the metro back, Gwen came running out from the building.

Hawk turned around, watching Gwen come after him.

"Did Lady Snow call you?"

"Yes."

Once Gwen stopped, she put her hands on her knees, taking a few breaths.

She had just received Lady Snow's call and rushed down, only to be informed by the bioelectricity department that Hawk had already left.

But luckily.

After calming her breath, Gwen looked at Hawk's face, "You... are you okay?"

Hawk shrugged, "Pretty good."

He hadn't let Lady Snow's favor go to waste, smoothly exiting Osborn Biotechnology, ready to head to Quantico.

And he got a week's pay without working.

Feeling pretty good.

Hawk thought to himself, looking at Gwen's worried expression, he grinned, "Don't worry, I'm really fine. The supervisor said I could come back during the winter break to work."

The supervisor did say that.

Though he'd probably not return, he didn't refuse.

You never know, right?

One should never use up all their strength, say all they know, and leave room for future encounters.

This wisdom Hawk understood.

Hearing this, Gwen, noticing Hawk's genuine expression, confirmed he was alright, nodded, then asked, "So what's your plan now since there's over a month before school resumes?"

"Stay home and read books. You know, with only a bit over a month left, finding a suitable summer job is tough."

Hawk shrugged as he said this, then added, "Alright, you should head back, I'm really fine."

Gwen nodded hearing this, "Alright then, if you have time, let's go to the library and read together."

Hawk was slightly stunned.

Once again, Gwen didn't give Hawk a chance to speak, seemingly having found the way to communicate with him by shoving a phone at him, she turned around and, hands in pockets, walked back into Osborn Biotechnology.

Watching Gwen wave with a smile before going into the building, Hawk frowned slightly.

The next moment.

He turned to leave.

Business first!

Quantico!

Here I f***ing come.

Release my Gammanien!!
