Chapter 244 - Chapter 147: News of the Incredible Garden and Its Protective Measures

Logically speaking, in such a famous place along this route, it's unlikely that so many people would have no idea. The only explanation is that those who know have already staked out.

That's why they couldn't get any information.

"Anyway, let's stay here for a while. I'll let Bulbasaur out so it can sense and see when the Incredible Garden will call him," Ash decided to stay put until the Incredible Garden bloomed.

According to Miss Joy, it should be at most a week before the Incredible Garden summons the surrounding Bulbasaurs or Ivysaurs.

Waiting here for a week, if they could gain the Divine Power, it would be a major win.

However, the problem was that the Pokemon Center was already full, so they had to camp outside, at most using the Pokemon Center's bathrooms to wash up.

But to the trio accustomed to the elements, this was no issue at all.

...

After setting up the tent outside, Misty and Brock asked about something that had been puzzling them for a while: how Ash knew about the Incredible Garden.

And he only knew the name, with no specific information. If Ash had known more specifics, he'd have headed straight there instead of asking around.

In response, Ash shifted the blame to Professor Oak again. Don't ask, just know that Professor Oak told him.

Professor Oak mentioned that the Incredible Garden contained a power that could perfectly evolve Bulbasaur, but he had only heard about it and didn't know the exact location, though it was definitely in Kanto.

So Ash went to great lengths to find the Incredible Garden.

It must be said, pulling out the "Professor Oak card" was quite effective. As soon as Ash mentioned Professor Oak, Misty and Brock had no further questions and felt it was only natural.

At night, after washing up, Ash and the others went into the tent. Bulbasaur was already out, having been instructed to notify Ash if there were any special calls.

However, the opening time of the Incredible Garden was still uncertain, and it might take several more days to open.

Ash and his friends were ready for a long haul.

Who could have expected that in the middle of the night, after Ash and the others fell asleep soundly in their sleeping bags, Bulbasaur suddenly woke up.

"Dana! Dana-Dana!!"

Bulbasaur used its Vine Whip to nudge Ash, calling out to him.

The calls instantly awakened Ash and his companions!

"Have you found something?"

"Dana!"

"It's truly a case of good timing! It's happening tonight!"

Ash had become accustomed to his bizarre luck, often chided by others as a "lucky dog" for a reason.

Not only did he have such luck with lotteries, but even in reality, his luck was unbelievably good.

Even when visiting the Incredible Garden, the timing was perfect, landing on the very day it opened.

Upon waking, Ash and the others quickly packed up the tents and got ready to follow Bulbasaur to the Incredible Garden.

After packing the tents, Ash and the others noticed that the surrounding plants had grown wildly; some saplings had turned into full-grown trees in the blink of an eye!

The road that was vaguely recognizable was now lost amidst the wildly growing plants.

With Bulbasaur leading the way, Ash and his friends ventured into the jungle, twisting and turning until Misty and Brock were nearly dizzy. This place felt like a maze, making it understandable why no one had discovered the Incredible Garden despite its fame in this area.

Following a Pokemon still posed a high risk of getting lost.

They managed to keep up with Bulbasaur because Ash locked onto it with his Aura, ensuring they couldn't lose it.

While this level of difficulty could be navigated with some effort, as time passed, Misty and Brock began to feel drowsy.

Even while walking, their consciousness seemed to be sinking.

"Misty, Brock, wake up!" Ash's sharp voice jolted the two back to consciousness, as they looked around confusedly and finally recalled who they were and what they were doing after a few seconds.

Misty had a lingering expression of fear: "What just happened? Why did I feel like I was falling asleep? Even if it's the middle of the night, I shouldn't be so tired that I'm sleepy while walking."

Brock squinted, looking around before speaking: "These plants aren't just growing wildly; they seem to emit a peculiar fragrance that lulls us into sleep gradually."

Ash nodded, instructing the two to follow closely while he explained: "Brock is right. These plants release something akin to hypnotic powder, causing those who inhale it to fall asleep and become dazed. No noise can wake them up until the effect passes."

There's a reason why no one has discovered the Incredible Garden until now, beyond the dense, maze-like vegetation and the hypnotic powder preventing people from finding it.

If simply following Bulbasaur could lead to the Incredible Garden, it would have been discovered long ago.

In reality, the Incredible Garden has only been a name, with no one having seen its true form.

If Ash hadn't noticed the strange state he, Misty, and Brock were in, they probably wouldn't have been able to see the real Incredible Garden either.

In that case, they'd have to rely on Bulbasaur alone to acquire Xerneas's power, which is incredibly challenging without Ash's help.

Once Ash got Misty and Brock back to their senses, they continued to follow Bulbasaur deeper. It wasn't long before Ash noticed that Bulbasaur seemed to have fallen under the spell too.

In theory, the Poison and Grass-type Bulbasaur should be immune to powder moves, but this hypnotic tactic was evidently stronger than regular powders. Even Bulbasaur couldn't resist it.

Now, Bulbasaur was staggering like a drunk, its eyes revealing a dazed expression, its consciousness slowly fading.

Following behind, Ash felt a tinge of horror seeing Bulbasaur like this.

Even an Elite Advanced Level Bulbasaur had no resistance to this force; the Incredible Garden was indeed eerie.

But considering it's a place tied to the God of Life, Xerneas, it would be unusual if entry were that easy.

"Even Bulbasaur is hypnotized! Yet, even under hypnosis, it instinctively moves forward; the hypnotic content must differ for us,"

"Yes, by hypnotizing even the Pokemon entering the Incredible Garden, they can completely shield anyone trying to discover it, which explains why it's remained hidden for so long," Ash nodded in agreement.

The protections here are certainly excessive. If not for his arrival, who knows when the Incredible Garden would be unveiled?

However, Ash came here just to gain a fragment of Xerneas's power for Bulbasaur. Revealing the existence of the Incredible Garden wasn't his aim.

Exposing such a place could lead to it being compromised by those with no good intentions, no matter how well the league tried to protect it.

Therefore, it's best if the Incredible Garden remains hidden as it always has.
