"So you're my new student?"
A girl's voice disturbed the quiet of the library.
Michael pulled his gaze away from his left hand where a few birds made of elemental magic like fire, wind, water, and lightning were fluttering around.
He looked at the girl whose presence he had sensed earlier; he had even noticed that she had been watching him for several minutes prior.
The girl had a very young and cheerful appearance with bright blue eyes and beautiful blonde hair covered by a blue hat adorned with a yellow star on the front, and clothing consisting of a blue coat decorated with small pink flowers, a white blouse with a fur collar, and a short black and blue plaid skirt.
A truly stereotypical witch girl appearance… and was that a broom she was holding in her hand?
Michael stared in awe at the witch girl who was supposed to be his new magic mentor appointed by Cao Cao to teach him if what Georg had said was true during the two days of magic lessons he had received recently.
Indeed, two days had passed since his introduction to the other members of the Hero Faction.
From what he had observed earlier, there were likely no more than twenty members in this small faction.
Although the faction was small, he had to admit that it truly lived up to its name, as almost all of its members were connected to famous historical figures.
Such as Heracles, Perseus, Siegfried, and Arthur Pendragon.
He only knew the histories of those four names; the rest like Connla, Leonardo, and the others, he didn't know if they had any connection to the famous figures recorded in human history.
Although there is a possibility that they are just ordinary people recruited because they possess a Sacred Gear.
Oh yeah, Marsilio was another one... the guy he'd met at the coffee shop before.
He'd finally run into him again, just like the man's last words predicted.
Besides them, there were several other female members whom he did not meet because they were on a mission.
From the information he got from Marsilio, whom he had spoken to earlier, he learned that the names of some of the girls were Zhuge Liang, who was a descendant of a famous figure recorded in Chinese history.
As for the other girl, Marsilio referred to her as Saintess. Marsilio didn't say much about her, but he knew that she was currently on a mission with Zhuge Liang.
He had some speculations about the girl named Saintess, but he couldn't confirm their validity because there was no evidence to support his speculations.
And this girl in front of him must be one of the girls who was not present during his introduction to the other members.
Le Fay Pendragon.
Arthur's younger sister and his new magic mentor…
Michael stared at the girl in front of him who was also watching him intently… he had expected an old man in a wizard robe to be his new magic mentor… but a little girl?
That wasn't even in his wildest imagination… but it might be expected from a group consisting only of young people, huh…
As Michael stared and studied his new magic mentor in front of him… Le Fay was doing the same to the new student in front of her.
The appearance of the man in front of her was truly attractive and gentle, but if what her older brother said was true... then his gentle appearance might just be a deception to trick the foolish sheep he was targeting.
Arthur referred to this man as a sick and disgusting serial killer who targeted innocent humans like children, women, and the elderly who had no means to resist him.
And Jeanne who is currently on a mission with Zhuge Liang under Cao Cao's orders, is the girl he kidnapped and imprisoned for six months to make her his wife due to his fetish and strange hobby.
The only reason Cao Cao sent Jeanne away from the pocket dimension of their headquarters which created by Georg using his Dimension Lost was to avoid an accidental encounter with Michael.
Her older brother had even warned her that she could refuse to be his mentor due to the potential danger to her... but after hearing from Georg about his talent, she simply couldn't refuse to teach such a gifted student, even though it might be a bad decision.
Georg mentioned that Michael had devoured all the basic magic and elemental magic he had taught him over the past few days.
He said that Michael might be a genius in magic, and his Sacred Gear supported that genius.
His genius was the only reason Michael wasn't killed by Cao Cao and why Le Fay agreed to become his magic mentor after learning about his psychopathic personality and dark history.
Cao Cao spared his life because he was curious about how far he could go with his magic and Sacred Gear and whether he could be of value for their future goals.
As for Le Fay, she agreed to become his magic mentor because of the mutual benefits she would gain from being his mentor.
It has become an unwritten rule that after a mentor shares their magic knowledge with their student, the student will repay their mentor by sharing their new magic discoveries with their mentor.
That is the origin of the relationship between mentor and student in the World of Magic.
And that is why she accepted to become his magic mentor; after all, she is also a magician, and she would not refuse new magic knowledge that would boost her own skills.
Especially from a talented magician like him.
"And you are my new magic mentor, Le Fay Pendragon?"
Michael's voice snapped Le Fay out of her thoughts.
"Did Georg-sama told you about me?"
Even though Michael had no idea what 'sama' meant coming from his new mentor, he nodded.
"I've learned a lot over the past few days."
"Then you know what the relationship between a mentor and a student means in the World of Magic, right?"
Le Fay produced a magic contract and handed it to Michael.
"Mutual relationship?"
Michael read the terms of the magic contract. After confirming there was nothing suspicious in the contract and that it only contained the mutual relationship between mentor and student, he channeled his magical energy into the contract.
After channeling his magical energy into the contract, the magic contract shone brightly, transforming into tiny particles of light that flowed into both their bodies like chains binding them together.
That was the sign that the magic contract had been mutually agreed upon.
"Right. I will teach you my magic knowledge, and you will give me your research on the new magic formula."
"Sounds good."
Michael had already learned about the reciprocal relationship between mentor and student in this world from Georg earlier; he had even made the same contract with him after Georg taught him many basic magic and elemental magic.
He saw no reason to refuse such a contract because he knew there was no such thing as a free lunch in this world, even for magicians, no one would teach their magic to others without expecting the same in return.
"Although I have heard from Georg-sama before that you are very talented in magic, I want to make sure first where your current knowledge of magic stands. How much do you know about magic?"
Le Fay sat in front of Michael while watching several birds made of elemental magic flying around him. It was a clear sign of how well he controlled his magic energy.
"A magical phenomenon that appears after a magician calculates a magic formula using their magical energy. Human magic was invented by Merlin when he studied devil magic, which was created through their imaginary bullshit, and around the world, there are tons of different magic types depending on the group, like Norse Magic that's all about their runes."
"Although there are many different types of magic originating from different groups, there is one thing that is the same in all of them, the need for calculations before the magic can manifest."
"Except for the devils' imaginative bullshit."
As Michael said earlier, he had truly devoured a great deal of the magical knowledge Georg had imparted to him. For the past two days, the only thing he had done besides learning magic from Georg was conducting his own research on magic in this library; he had even read several grimoires on devil summoning that were in this library.
"Even though it's incomplete, it's enough for a beginner just starting to learn magic. What kinds of magic has Georg-sama taught you?"
Le Fay had to admit that although Michael's understanding of magic was still shallow, this man now had a basic grasp of what magic truly was.
Not all magic requires mathematical or physics calculations. There are other races, such as devils, who can use magic without them, as well as the fae in her homeland and even the gods, but that is too far beyond the scope of humans.
"Some basic magic like enhancement, suggestion, healing, defensive, and other basic elementals."
Michael clenched his fist as several magic circles spun around his hand; it was the enhancement magic he had just learned.
Wuss!
A light explosion sounded as he struck the air around him. If this strike which enhanced with enhancement magic hit a human face, they would undoubtedly be knocked out cold due to their shattered skulls.
Although this was basic magic, if used correctly, it would have a tremendous impact on a battle.
"You didn't calculate for that enhancement magic?"
Le Fay had heard before that this man could use magic without calculation, which was always the basis of magic used by magicians.
That was also one of the reasons why she accepted to be his mentor. The Sacred Gear that the man was rumored to possess was clearly a wet dream for magicians if what Georg said was true, that the Sacred Gear currently possessed by Michael was a kind of Grimoire that recorded a lot of magic that had been forgotten due to the lost to time.
"Calling it 'didn't calculate' isn't quite right, because I still have to consider which parts of my body I want to enhance."
"But for the most part, that's true. I don't need to make calculations when using magic."
Michael was truly grateful for choosing Homo Magi as his evolution; if he had chosen something else, he might not have had such an easy time learning magic.
If he were to incorporate this basic enhancement magic into one of his magic slots in the future, he might be able to continue evolving it until it matched or even surpassed the effects that Touki could provide if he had chosen Homo Bellicus.
The thought of being able to flatten a mountain using only basic enhancement magic truly excited him.
"Hmm... how does that work? I've always been curious after hearing about it."
Le Fay asked while staring at the flow of magical energy gathering in Michael's right hand due to the enhancement magic he was using.
"How should I put it… hmm… I just follow the flow of magical energy needed when creating a magic circle. After doing the same thing, I can use the same magic."
"You really don't need calculations when turning that magic formula into a magic circle?"
"No, I just need to follow the energy flow that creates the magic circle."
"..."
Le Fay could only sigh enviously after hearing that; it was truly a magician's wet dream as Georg had said earlier.
The way Michael performed magic essentially skipped all the crucial steps that should be done before the magic circle is created.
Even devils weren't like that with their imaginative magic; they truly needed to know what they were imagining to make their magic stronger.
If they imagined a fire as hot as the sun, they had to first know what caused the fire to be as hot as the sun before imagining it into real magic.
It's almost the same as the calculations made by human magicians, but unlike magicians who will fail if they miscalculate, devils will still be able to perform the magic even if they make a mistake in their calculations but the effect of the magic will be drastically reduced.
But the man in front of her? He was simply following the flow of magical energy that created the magic circle, and the magic was complete.
What the hell with this talent gap? It was bullshit even if he leaned on his Sacred Gear.
She was so jealous of the man in front of her that she even using rude and inappropriate words.
"I'm truly curious about your limits… follow me and create this magic."
Le Fay tried to regain her composure because of jealous of the man in front of her, and released magical energy greater than his reserves, creating a magic circle containing several Norse Runes shaped like the letter Y.
This was one of the basic Norse Magic spells focused on defense and protection using the Algiz Rune (ᛉ).
This magic functions as protection against negative energy and curses which applicable to the entire body.
She deliberately cast this Norse Magic using a greater amount of magical energy than Michael possessed, she curious to see if he could keep up with the energy flow while creating the magic circle filled with Norse Runes without knowing their meaning or purpose.
"Like this?"
The two words that came out from his mouth completely destroyed all the arrogance she had previously possessed, thinking that the man in front of her might not be able to follow the energy flow that created the Norse Magic circle filled with Algiz Rune that he did not know.
Le Fay stared with her mouth wide open at Michael's entire body which was currently emitting several traces of purple Algiz Rune... this man had actually managed to use Rune Magic without knowing the Runes...
Not wanting to be embarrassed in front of her talented new student, Le Fay once again cast another Norse Magic spell… but unlike before, she was now casting while using Security System Magic.
Security System Magic is essentially magic focused on enhancing and providing additional protection to her spell formulas; she was curious whether, even after using this magic, he could still follow the flow of magical energy-
"Like this?"
Before she could even finish her inner monologue, a voice containing two familiar words echoed in her ears causing her to glance at Michael who was currently staring at the magic circle containing the Norse Runes she had cast earlier…
"What about this one?"
Not wanting to be outdone by her new student again, she continued casting new spells one after another in front of him.
"Like this?"
Whether it was White Magic…
"What about this one?"
Black Magic…
"Like this?"
"What about this one?"
Spirit Magic…
"Like this?"
"What about this one?"
Or even Forbidden Magic…
"Like this?"
Everything was imitated by the man in front of her who was still smiling gently while looking at her who was now staring at him with her mouth wide open in surprise...
Ah, I get it now...
Finally, she understood why Georg had thrown this man into her lap after only teaching him a few basic magic and elemental magic…
Georg might have been worried that there was no more magic he could teach Michael if all the magic he currently possessed was completely absorbed by Michael just by looking at it once…
And now… she might face the same dilemma and problems…

A/N: RIP Georg and Le Fay.
That bastard really sucked every drop of magic knowledge outta those poor souls.
Btw, I didn't end up doing a long time skip to the canon events. This is one of the reasons why this chapter took so long because the seven chapters I should have written earlier were tossed out once I realized I rushed the skip too hard.
Please be patient and let me cook.
Adios.
