Chapter 467 - Chapter 434: Harley's Surprise (Part 2)

Su Ming already had a plan.

The Blue Gloves were just a decoy; his target was Harley from the start.

Now that it's known that the Joker is on Luthor's side, we also need a madman to counter their madman.

It's impossible for Su Ming to really become a Wade, so who is more suitable than Harley?

After the Joker's failed attempt to kill her last time, Harley has completely changed. Her extreme love for the Joker has turned into extreme hatred. Seeing the Joker for who he is, Harley has become an independent, self-reliant woman of the new era, and she now only lives for herself.

"Alright, the Celestial Eye Association will give up on Harley Quinn and lift all surveillance on her, but you are responsible for keeping an eye on her and making sure she doesn't commit crimes again."

Batman remained silent, merely crossing his arms and standing there waiting.

Amanda didn't mind either. She immediately ordered her subordinates to arrange Harley's surgery, and right in front of Batman, she took out a control computer and disabled the bomb's remote control program on it.

Harley was free.

Soon, the still groggy Harley was sent to the operating room, where the bomb was removed, and what's more, they even brought her entire old file.

Dr. Harleen Quinzel, criminal psychology researcher at Gotham City's Arkham Sanatorium.

Her past criminal records were erased, making her seem as clean as a saint.

"Is today April Fool's Day?" Harley tied her hair into pigtails while being escorted by the guards. "But I remember April Fool's Day was last month."

A guard carrying a taser gun walked behind her and couldn't help but comment, "You're lucky, madwoman; your man has come to save you."

Harley stopped in her tracks with a smile: "My man?"

"Yes, he's waiting for you with Commander Amanda now."

"Is that so..." Harley seemed to understand, nodded, and then suddenly sprang into action, scratching several blood marks on the guard's face like a cat with her nails: "I don't have a man! I'm still a virgin!"

The guard screamed, clutching his face, trying to shoot but was stopped by others. Their commander had made a deal with Batman, so the goods couldn't be damaged in their hands.

So the guard, scratched into a tabby cat face, could only watch helplessly as the laughing Harley was restrained by several others and carried towards the command room like a giant spring roll.

Naturally, what happened in the corridor would be reported to Amanda, who only had a twitch at the corner of her mouth.

These guards were like monkeys. Previously, some saw Harley's beauty and wanted to take advantage of her, only to spend the rest of their lives in wheelchairs.

And yet newcomers never learned. Is Harley Quinn someone an ordinary person can mess with?

Amanda turned to Batman: "Dr. Quinzel is in your hands now, as you can see, quite lively."

Su Ming watched as Harley, tightly bound in a straitjacket, was carried in like a Mexican burrito, with only her bicolor head exposed, swaying with each step. He almost burst out laughing.

But he stifled it with a cough, took Harley from the guards, and carried her on his shoulder.

"We're even."

With that, he ignored Amanda's outstretched hand, turned, and left.

With the mission accomplished, why bother shaking hands? Amanda is a smart cookie, and if she discovered anything suspicious through contact, it wouldn't be good.

He moved quickly, and just a few minutes later, he was carrying Harley through the ruins of Detroit.

And Harley had been quite obedient, but upon seeing Batman, she became utterly hopeless.

At the Celestial Eye Association, there might be a chance to escape, but in Batman's hands, escape was impossible.

But as they moved further from the Celestial Eye Association's headquarters, she sensed something was amiss; Batman didn't seem like he was taking her back to Arkham.

This stance looked more like he was going to drag her into an alley to 'deal' with her.

Having grown up in Gotham, she knew many gangs disposed of 'trash' in empty alleys, but fortunately, Batman wouldn't do that.

"Bat, Bat? Where did you park your plane? Is it invisible?" Harley craned her head to look at Batman's face, as expressionless as ever.

"We're walking back to Gotham."

Su Ming set her down on the ground and yanked off her straitjacket, tearing it apart with force.

Inside, she still wore her combat outfit, a red and blue T-shirt and sequin hot pants, hugging her own file.

He grabbed her arm and had her follow him.

Harley's face was full of surprise, her mouth agape. Walk back to Gotham?

This is Detroit, for crying out loud! Walking back would wear out her shoes! So many things going on with the Justice League, how does he have free time to walk with her in the city ruins?

But she didn't think this was a joke; Batman never joked, he loathed jokes.

Just as she was being tugged along, Batman suddenly turned his face, a nightmare-like smile on it.

"I'm kidding, haha."

"Who... are you really?!" Harley wasn't pleased but rather a bit scared; this wasn't Batman!

And yet he had a plan to bring her out of the Celestial Eye Association unnoticed.

She started to struggle, wanting to escape, but the large hand on her arm didn't budge; her strength was like a mayfly shaking a tree.

Batman's face twisted, his mask and skin peeling away like a shell, revealing a one-eyed man with a taunting smile beneath.

"You said in broad daylight to come save you, that you'd give me a surprise, so here I am."

Harley laughed happily; he really did come to save her, and no one noticed.

This suit that could change appearances was incredible.

"Is it you, Deathstroke?"

"Who else would come to the Celestial Eye Association's headquarters to save you? Superman? By the way, where's my surprise?"

Su Ming let her go; they were already out of the Celestial Eye Association's surveillance range, plus the city ruins' cover ensured satellites couldn't catch their movements.

Just need to find a random piece of black cloth to cover them later, then fly her back to Gotham.

Harley pounced into his arms, hanging her arms around his neck, tiptoeing to offer her lips.

Since it was break time and the lady was so forward, Su Ming didn't see the need to refuse.

Three minutes later, Harley jumped down from his arms, panting.

Su Ming wiped off the lipstick on his mouth: "Was that the surprise?"

"No." Harley shook her head, glancing around as if the earlier event hadn't happened. "Originally, the surprise was a three-tiered cake, but it was so delicious I ate it all, so I could only let you indirectly taste the cream and strawberries."

Su Ming knew she had a peculiar mindset, the logic of a lunatic: "The strawberries were quite fresh. Ready to head back to Gotham?"

"I don't want to go back to Gotham; I want to go back to New York. I have a house there, I'm still a landlord."

Harley shook her head, refusing to return to a place as familiar as Gotham. With a clean record now, she could return to being a doctor without needing to go where everyone feared her.

"Have you forgotten that Earth is going to be destroyed in half a year? Your property might just evaporate soon." Su Ming leisurely reminded, pointing a finger skyward, hinting at the Bat Moon on the horizon.

Harley tilted her head, making a regretful expression, recalling this fact.

It seemed that just like Deathstroke said, without saving the world, the days of going home to be a landlady were still out of reach.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's save the world together!" Harley pulled out a steel bar with a cement block from the ruins on the roadside, hoisting it onto her shoulder.

The building ruins shook as if about to collapse, but she seemed not to notice.

Su Ming calculated a bit, shaking his head: "Enthusiasm isn't enough; I still need more manpower. First, connect with Poison Ivy and have her meet us in Gotham."

"Okay, do you have a phone?" Harley extended her hand.

"Didn't bring one; my secretary has it." Su Ming shook his head, having given the tracker to the gorilla to take to the bar before starting all this without a phone.

Harley looked Su Ming up and down as if recognizing Deathstroke anew: "You have a secretary? Are you rich?"

"I have some money, enough for us to spend. As for the secretary, it's just a cute, hairy animal."

Su Ming pulled off a piece of roofing felt from a collapsed roof by the roadside, hiding the two of them, and the Magic Floating Cloak flew them back to Gotham at a very low height.

Once reunited with Poison Ivy, settling them at the Forgotten Bar wouldn't be bad; in that scorched corpse-filled environment, she wouldn't mind at all.
