Chapter 392 - Chapter 360: Pursuit

Upon hearing Deathstroke say that, Diana finally realized that the scent she thought was of the forest wasn't quite the same as usual.

Sometimes the forest after rain carries a slight smell of decay, which could be due to the rotting leaves or the proliferation of fungi.

However, if the eyepieces in the Deathstroke Helmet have already provided an analytical result, then the issue is different.

Diana drew her Sword and Shield and struck at the door, sending the brass Door Handle spinning away, and the door broke with a sound.

A Fireball flew out towards the doorway, and Diana shattered it with her Shield.

In the light of the flames, the two saw something indescribable lying in front of the Dressing Mirror, within the darkness at the door.

It vaguely resembled a human, but the whole body was twisted and deformed, with all bones and muscles stretched out into elongated strands.

It was fractured, melted, and time along with scavenging insects had turned it into a gray, foul mess.

Su Ming shook his head, while Diana's expression turned even grimmer.

This was the result of Magic.

This was a Warlock who liked to use a disguise Magic on himself to appear younger or more handsome before going out, but the Magic had gone wrong.

Turning him into a pile of Demon excrement.

The reason for Diana's grim expression was her concern for her friend Zatanna; if she continued using her Antithesis Magic, it certainly couldn't be just luck every time, a similar Fate might fall upon her.

"Now it seems like your first choice is gone, is there a second candidate?"

Su Ming asked indifferently, letting the Justice League handle matters here, as these elderly Mages usually don't have kin, so it's up to the Heroes to deal with the aftermath.

Diana sighed, stepping over the corpse to search the room briefly for clues, but found nothing.

"He was a good person, quite skilled at transforming various kinds of ice cream; I was going to bring you here..."

"Warlocks remain human; he just met his End, relying on Magic, eventually bound by Magic." Su Ming shrugged, the power of Magic being like Divine Speed, easily leading to addiction, but always causing unexpected results.

"We don't have time to hold a funeral for him." Diana grabbed a tablecloth from the dining table, draped it over the body, adjusted her hood, and walked out: "Follow me, let's find the second person."

Su Ming followed her, taking flight: "Is your list ranked by the tastiness of the ice cream they conjure?"

Wonder Woman glared fiercely at him, am I someone who only knows ice cream?

Due to urgent affairs, both flew swiftly, but no matter how fast, they still couldn't outpace the footsteps of Destiny.

On Diana's list of Magic Consultants, a string of Warlocks had died unnatural deaths, and it was apparent these events had taken place days ago, their bodies now mostly highly decayed.

Yet the cause of death could still be discerned; various indescribable methods of death, only Magic could produce such effects.

Wonder Woman took out a red metallic-cased phone from somewhere, hesitating to dial, pondering for a long while, she cast her gaze towards Deathstroke.

"I don't really want to call Constantine, but at this point, I don't know who else could provide answers."

Su Ming reached out, gently pressed the power button on the phone in her hand: "Then don't call, your lack of solutions doesn't mean I lack them."

"I don't know if you know any Mages outside of the Dark Justice League, Shazam maybe? He's been fiercely entangled with Black Adam lately, hasn't visited the Hall of Justice for quite some time."

Diana tilted her head, pondering, she didn't think mercenaries from the Otherworld would have any connection with Mages from the Main World.

Ordinarily, that's the case, but not applicable to someone like Su Ming.

"This is Los Angeles, and with just a hundred US Dollars, you can enjoy the best exorcism services on the West Coast." Su Ming flew with Diana, heading into the city, looking for a public telephone booth.

"Uh... sounds like Constantine, I didn't know he had business on the West Coast."

"Although it sounds like him, the person I'm looking for is far more reliable than Constantine, at least I won't have to worry about her sacrificing us to Demons without our knowledge, forcing us to fight our way out of Hell."

Su Ming introduced Diana with a light-hearted tone as they flew, he was now seeking another hired Magic Genius.

Alabell Quinn, the most beautiful Demon Cultist in the world.

If Constantine's source of Magic is due to his bloodline, the Demon's Blood within him doing its part, then Alabell is entirely different.

She randomly watched three disjointed Magic courses on 'YouTube', originally a scam set up by Constantine for easy money.

Zha Kang heard for a time that making money on the internet was easy, and with help from his friend, a driver, he uploaded a few paid courses online.

In reality, it's all a con, the Summoning Magic he taught would always summon some Hellish Little Demons just to disgust people, so those who watched the videos would inevitably seek him for exorcism.

Back then, Constantine would wake up laughing from dreams about that 'beautiful money prospect'.

But Alabell's focus was different from others', she mimicked the attire and dress in the videos, purchased the same yellow trench coat, white shirt, and black tie outfit.

She cut her long hair short, smoked a cigarette, and transformed into a female version of Zha Kang's look, holding an ambiguous Summoning ritual.

The Hell Demons mistook her for Constantine, wanting to avenge themselves against Constantine, Hell almost seemed in chaos.

In the end, the victor was the Prince of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar, very curious as to why Constantine had transformed into a young lady.

Lucifer came to the Current World, finding Alabell's story intriguing, wanting to see Constantine's reaction upon meeting a female version of himself...

Thus, the playful Lucifer signed a contract with Alabell, granting her powerful Dark Magic, enabling her to directly channel Hell's Energy.

With just a simple curse, the Demons Constantine hoodwinked must be roasted by her into duck.

Of course, Lucifer had stipulations too; she had to engage in exorcism business like Constantine.

Doing business requires a business card.

Constantine's card reads 'Dark Arts Master', hers reads 'Licensed Demonology and Divorce Expert'...

Her exorcism business was scarce, Los Angeles had numerous Mages willing to do good deeds for free, those who sought her were mostly eager to separate, deeming their spouse as a Demon.

If Su Ming wanted to find a Magic Consultant, naturally picking someone with powerful capability, plus Alabell being a super beauty.

From four to eighteen, she won the title of 'Miss Colorado' for fourteen consecutive years, during her competition, she was always the Champion of beauty contests.

She only came to Los Angeles after becoming a potent Warlock, establishing her own office.

Of course, she knew the cost of Magic well, as a user of Demon Power, she understood it clearly.

Like Constantine, she indulged in smoke and alcohol, impoverished, all part of the disguised cost.

But she wouldn't sacrifice her friends, since Hell pays the Casting Cost, she only needs to wait until her death, handing over her Soul to the Prince of Hell.

After signing not long with her, Lucifer left Hell to open a bar in Los Angeles, what use is a Soul anymore?

Therefore, as 'historical residues', the agreement with Alabell remains valid, but she keeps the Soul herself, decides when to give it, or not at all.

So now, Su Ming thought of her, a more powerful female version of Hell Detective, using Lucifer's disappearance as a reason, surely able to persuade her to act.

Other Mages, now due to the unclear source of Magic Power, are all wasted, inferior to the users of Demon Power; at least the source of strength is certain.

Finding Constantine was the same, just finding a public telephone booth, flipping through the directory, and the small ad in the Yellow Pages would lead you to her.
