Chapter 353 - Chapter 321: Melting Head

All they saw before them was a span of yellow sand, with moonlight quietly draping the ground, casting a hazy glow over everything.

Temperature, humidity, wind speed, and light refraction angle were all normal parameters, as the scientific analysis results were displayed on Su Ming's goggles.

However, like satellites are products of science, the coordinates recorded by the satellite indicated that the Totality should have landed just ahead of them.

"Well, isn't this peculiar..." Su Ming couldn't help but muse, as he leaned down to grab a handful of sand and watched it fall through his fingers.

"Right? It's so strange. This is my first time dealing with something invisible." Harley moved closer, smelling like a mix of makeup and a hint of sewer.

Death Shooter also approached, showing no hostility towards Su Ming anymore, since Su Ming had negotiated benefits for everyone during talks with the black lady.

Once this mission was over, Death Shooter would immediately get a day off to drop off and pick up his daughter from school, help her with homework, until after lunch the next day.

Of course, a small group of combat-savvy special agents would accompany him, prohibiting him from approaching anything with a trigger, even a carpentry drill.

Captain Boomerang would receive a whole box of alcohol, Frost Killer a cabinet, and Killer Crocodile a pool of clean water.

So now, apart from Samurai Sword, who still harbored hostility towards him, the Suicide Squad had accepted the arrangement of who would lead the mission.

Death Shooter and Boomerang were even more assured.

After all, Rick was just an ordinary soldier, while Deathstroke was a world-renowned Tactical Master, guaranteeing how many people would make it out, and how many would return.

Death Shooter tapped his goggles, "I haven't found anything either. Could the Justice League have already taken it away?"

Su Ming shook his head, probing the reality ahead as he continued onward.

"The peculiar thing isn't that the object is gone, but that Constantine worked so hard to unleash a large-scale magic without gaining any benefit." Su Ming remarked.

"Ah, magic... When was the last time I saw a magic show?" Harley bit her finger, staring at the sky in recollection, spacing out again. "Hey, wait for me, don't walk so fast."

The fine sand beneath made a rustling sound, feeling like cotton when stepped on. The heavier Killer Crocodile sunk deeply with each step.

The nighttime chill brought a certain thrill to everyone; the group was mostly nocturnal oddballs.

After a moment, Su Ming hit an invisible wall, like an unseen glass. He reached out to feel it, as if performing mime.

"It's here. Everyone step back. Santo, use your ability on what's in front." Su Ming gestured for everyone to spread out, preparing Flame Demon for his skill.

Flame Demon's setup was somewhat like the Evil Spirit Knight from next door, with a vengeful spirit dwelling inside him. Though his flames weren't from Hell's judgement fire, they had special effects.

The flames could detoxify, and help him elementally transform; currently, they needed his power to counteract invisibility magic.

Flame Demon stepped in front of Su Ming, closing his eyes and breathing deeply, causing veins to bulge on his face, emitting a beast-like roar.

Su Ming tapped his wrist.

Sparks appeared on Flame Demon's body, distorting the surrounding air lightly as the temperature gradually increased.

Su Ming shuffled sideways a few steps.

Flame Demon raised his hands, finally igniting his flames, requiring anger to activate his ability. Yet faced with an empty desert, he found it hard to get angry.

Su Ming sighed somewhat reluctantly. Flame Demon's ability was decent, an example being his flames countering the Witch's magic.

However, his casting speed was too slow; each time, the Suicide Squad would have dealt with the enemy or be nearly defeated before he could unleash a Big Move.

Unlike typical criminals, Santo was repulsive of his own power, praying or repenting daily, aiming to remain calm and anger-free.

Perhaps his intentions were good, aiming not to hurt others.

Yet losing his power meant losing his usefulness to Celestial Eye Association. Amanda wouldn't let him off the hook.

Everyone in the Suicide Squad had done a lot of dirty work for the government, and only dead men keep secrets.

Still, it wasn't Su Ming's concern. If Harley was least afraid of death within Suicide Squad, the second would be Santo, who undertook missions as penance, not wanting to live any longer.

Apart from Flame Demon, Frost Killer's ability activation was slow too, with the downside that her power usage drained her energy rapidly. Releasing a large-scale frost ability only sees her collapse quicker than the enemy...

Amanda picked from the shortest, considering Su Ming, the team had problematic selections.

Even bringing in Mr. Freeze and Firefly would've been better than Frost Killer and Flame Demon.

Making an ordinary man like Rick a captain, having the loner assassin Death Shooter arrange tactics, mad Harley act as counselor and mediator, while Captain Boomerang was ever a betrayer.

Truly suicidal; it's a miracle that they survived up to now.

Amanda had her unspeakable plans. Clearly, the United States was full of super-powered convicts, yet why did her Suicide Squad only have seven or eight members?

Nonetheless, Su Ming only needed Suicide Squad's official covers. With it, he could comfortably stick with the Justice League.

If you want to protest? Go ahead, tell the White House.

Awaiting Justice League's troubles, Su Ming would seize the chance to squeeze a hefty deal from them...

While contemplating, Santo's flames finally erupted, twin fire dragons emerging from his palms, illuminating everything around, colliding into the invisible barrier ahead, sparks flying.

"Ah!!!! Faker!!!!!"

Santo garnered anger through cursing, making the pillar of flame surge wider.

Like drilling through glass, the flames burnt away a swathe of the magical effect, revealing the hidden thing inside.

As Barry had said, a giant stone head, mysteriously resembling melting ice cream.

"It's too big. We can't take it," Killer Crocodile shook his head immediately, his size seeming like an ant compared to the giant head.

"Just seeing it from the outside, wouldn't make the big lady happy. She's seen it on satellite imagery..." Su Ming tested the head's shield with his fist.

Behind the invisibility array, was another purple barrier; the energy unfamiliar, neither magic nor divine power, akin to thick rubber, strongly elastic, resisting intrusion.

Su Ming exerted considerable effort managing to pierce it, yet could still feel an invisible force trying to squeeze him out.

Calculating according to this intensity, only he and Killer Crocodile had enough strength to force entry among the team.

He was curious about this giant head's true nature.

This used to be an Origin Wall's big-shot's head, but now... it seemed interacting with Earth stirred some changes.

Melting stone, a faintly strange smell, all were unnerving for Su Ming. Planning to squeeze the League's resources meant staying ahead of their intelligence and formulating plans.

Suicide Squad's movements were likely discovered by 'Watchtower'; whatever he does must be swift.
