Chapter 345 - Chapter 313: Evolution War

"Justice League, what's the current situation?"

Mars Hunter quietly floated in Earth's orbit, with the Justice League's 'Watchtower' on the moon not far behind, and now the League members were scattered all over the world, needing his Mind Network to communicate with each other.

Batman and Green Arrow were deep underground in Star City, fighting fiercely in a pitch-black tunnel with a group of enemies.

Bruce donned the 'Fierce Strike' armor he had used against Deathstroke, punching an incredibly ugly humanoid creature and sending it flying.

Green Arrow behind him was feeling a bit uncomfortable; this cramped, winding battlefield was not very conducive to archery.

"I think I should be at the Equatorial with Diana, or in the Arctic with Barry; this place is awful." Green Arrow used his arrow as a dagger to stab a monster, discarding its furry corpse.

Batman ignored his complaints; focused as always on the mission, he smashed another enemy's spine with a massive alloy fist, using his armor's searchlight to investigate the situation ahead.

"Our enemies are a type of ape people, as if they've lived underground for tens of thousands of years. Their upper limbs are developed, bodies strong, and their armor is a kind of reinforced rock."

"Can you break through their armor?" Jon crossed his legs in space, quietly watching the blue planet ahead.

"Ron, I live in..."

"I live in a cave, I'm very familiar with rocks..." Far away in the icy Arctic, Barry imitated Bruce's tone, using a deep voice to respond: "How did I do? Did I sound like him?"

Unfortunately, the Arctic's low temperatures made his voice tremble somewhat.

"Barry, my voice isn't like that." Bruce continued to fight expressionlessly, though he was indeed preparing to say something similar.

"Sorry, ahem, anyway, we've made quite a bit of progress in the Arctic. The rapid warming causing the ice and snow to sublime will disable their electromagnetic devices. Mr. Zhuoyue and Plastic Man agree with me calling this a victory of science."

Barry awkwardly cleared his throat, explaining the situation in the Arctic.

Mars Hunter in space nodded subconsciously, then realized his teammates couldn't see him: "Very good, Barry, keep it up. Diana, how are things at the Equatorial?"

"These ape people have evolved differently; all the ones here are shamans or witch doctors using some kind of magic. I'm currently searching for their Magic Tome with Swamp Monster."

Diana replied while decapitating an enemy in front of her with the Fire God Sword; she would show no mercy as the safety of the world allowed no compromise.

"I can sense something dark on the island you're on, like a burning black gemstone. Do you need my assistance?" Ron asked.

"No need, go help the others." Diana cleared her throat, lowering her tone, "Because... I'm Wonder Woman... How did I do? Did I sound like her?"

Bruce: "Diana."

"Haha, not bad." Sea King's voice came through the mind link; he was currently fighting a group of amphibious ape people under the sea with his followers.

Due to the battlefield's location, the Justice League often couldn't intervene in his battles, and since the last Metal event, Mera's relationship with him had worsened again.

Barbatos' power not only affected the ground but also the underwater, tides and undersea volcanoes had caused great casualties among the Undersea People.

Mera felt Arthur was too close to the Justice League, saving surface people without protecting Atlanteans first? That's not kingly behavior, so Mera launched a coup of sorts, taking over Arthur's rule of Atlantis.

Sea King didn't mind; he now frequently mingled at the Hall of Justice or in bars around Ci'en Port, leaving him with only the Young Sea Hero and Female Fox, alongside his dolphins and seahorses.

Bruce also felt it was good to give Arthur some space, as another time Deathstroke had chosen to ignore Arthur while saving Ron, a reality that afterward dealt a heavy blow to Sea King.

Now, every time he got drunk, he'd mumble, "Where did I fall short? How am I less than Mars People?"

Deathstroke saved the other six members of the Justice League, leaving only him out and replacing him with Mars Hunter. Even the continually ignored Green Arrow seemed forgotten by Arthur.

However, now Arthur seemed to understand, Ron's Mind Network was indeed very useful, allowing them to communicate smoothly around the globe.

"The ape people here are trying to merge the underground sea's toxic liquid into the Seven Oceans, altering Earth's water quality." Arthur's Trident swung, sending broken ape bodies sinking into the deep sea.

"It's similar here," Hawk Woman and Adam Hero were handling atmospheric issues from the sky: "They're polluting the atmosphere with some gas, although I haven't yet learned to speak like Batman."

Hawkman is still in the hospital; last time Su Ming had all his toenails removed, then Superman gave him a knock on the head with the World Forger, leaving him comatose.

"It's obvious." Ron made a deduction from orbit based on current clues, "Someone sent these apes into different 'Pocket Spaces' tens of thousands of years ago, enticing them to evolve in different directions, a method very reminiscent of Sandra's old friend, Wanda Savage."

Superman and Steel Bone were currently in Gotham City, at the final battlefield of the Metal event—Challenger Mountain, and the Cosmic Tuning Fork was still here, this precise equipment very difficult to transport.

They were also surrounded by fully armed apes; though these creatures seemed unintelligent, they were still plotting over this giant high-tech device.

"I agree with you, Ron, this isn't an attack, it's an evolutionary war; these ape people want the Earth." Clark uppercut an ape into the atmosphere, turning to face other bizarre war machines.

Steel Bone was fighting by his side: "Under our noses? They can forget it."

Barry laughed; his side was nearly finished, as Divine Speed was always the fastest problem-solver: "You really sound like Batman when you say that. Won't you consider mimicking his voice? With a Mother Box or something..."

Steel Bone's arm transformed into an Energy Cannon, blasting away a group of enemies: "Next to Superman? Forget it, Clark does the best impression."

Barry piled up all the knocked-out apes and clapped his hands: "Yeah, resembles it super well, 'Do you bleed?' That line..."

Batman and Superman spoke in unison: "Barry?"

"Cough, sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned it, but it does sound like it." Barry covered his mouth; he seemed to have said something wrong again.

"Uh, if you ignore the content, the tone really does sound similar." Steel Bone chimed in to smooth things over, as no one wanted to recall Superman and Batman's civil war: "If I wanted to mimic it, I think I could just edit Batman's audio files."

"No, that wouldn't be good." Batman expressionlessly stepped an ape into the ground, shattering its bones.

Ron remained floating in space, listening to his teammates' exchanges, with his Mind Network keeping everyone closely connected.

They were like a family, close-knit and inseparable.
